  1. A couple of years ago I got one at La Casa de Batterias in David. The store is located on the corner of two 1-way streets. From town center (the main parque) if you are directly in front of the church, then keep going on that 1-way street toward the airport. When you get to a stop sign for what I am told was the first 1-way street in David, then look on your left. They even tested the old battery, and installed and tested the new one. Nice people and reasonable prices. Sometimes very busy.
  2. Siempre, when I first read this reply, I jumped on board with you. And then I read: which caused me to stop and reflect on your reply. (As an aside, I need to be careful here on this web site because I have been taken to task for being "caustic" was their word when I got a bit too aggressive in my words. They said I was attacking people, which is not permitted. I groused about that comeuppance for a while, including boycotting this web site. And then I went back and reread what I had written, and I ended up having to agree with them. What I was writing was how things are done on that cesspool of a web site called Ning. Anyway, Bonnie's reply caused me to be more analytical. I concluded that she was correct. The topic that Siempre started had a title that he gave it. But then it was the members here who took the subject in a different but related direction. And so the owners updated the title to reflect what was contained in the topic. The owners responded to the members content, and were not the cause for it to go in a different but related direction. Does that not sound like good management to you? But then you came back this morning, and this is what got my dander up. Siempre, you ARE COMPLAINING. Everyone on this web site sees that. Get over it. Slow down and take a deep breath. BTW, it is okay to complain. Personalty speaking, I am finding this expanded subject matter to be very enlightening. I am learning a lot here. And isn't that what these kind of web sites is about? For the web site owners, I hope you don't take my comments here as attacking a person. I am just trying to help him see the value of how this topic turned.
  3. Bundgaba, You are not the only ones who don’t do FB. Can’t stand that place. Some say that this site could be a bit more user friendly but at least the local info put here is good and useful.
  4. Hampton brings up an interesting point. My experience says that it is good business procedure to do a feasibility study up front. Unlike Hampton who suggests it is only about money, a feasibility study usually addresses other aspects of a large project, such as technical challenges, environmental issues, political winds, public interest and support, etc., etc. I disagree with his last sentence, which is his opinion. I don’t understand the continuing interest in connecting Panama City with Costa Rica. Can someone help me understand why Costa Rica is so important to Panama, other than being a neighboring country? If a train is built, I doubt that I will live long enough to see it in operation.
  5. I like “...good and so CHEAP...”, but have no idea where/who “Olga’s at Alto” is. Please clarify.
  6. Agree with 2Sailors. Bring on the aspirin. My head hurts. I didn’t need or want a history of the AAC group. IMO Gregory could benefit by taking an effective writing skills course. He is trying to be nice, but writes from a defensive posture. When I see such writing style (some people call it spin) I wonder about the real story behind the rosy picture that he paints. To my way of thinking this lengthy diatribe is telling us the one sentence that I quoted here. AAC is shutting down. Rodney Direct is providing his helpline service (and doing a good job from what I hear) and is graciously providing complementary services to the now former AAC subscribers. I think that is what Gregory is saying. It now seems as if Gregory is going into the health insurance brokerage business, but I am not clear on that. My thinking is that AAC did not have a good business plan and it eventually caught up with that group. I wish all of those involved in these activities all the best. Our community has benefited and grown. And it had to be a lot of time and energy expended over these past several years. And now we move on, but with Rodney filling the lead position.
  7. Does anyone know the official hours of operation for the Boquete treasury office? That is where you pay the garbage fee and car plates, etc. TIA
  8. I went back to reread the HuffPost article three times. Nowhere do I read that they were career military. They indicate that they were military in the early part of their married life. If he was career military then why would he have had an issue with the cost of the medical care in the US? The services would have picked up the tab if that was the case. What am I overlooking here?
  9. When I read the Pat and Sailor postings, I got three impressions, appreciation for what News Lady does, support for not publishing emails with missing but important information, and an offering of one way to solve the matter. Nothing negative in any of that. I was not aware, but from what Keith writes News Lady pays for that service out of her pocket. Wow, what a generous and caring person she is.
  10. Do they really expect to be able to read this? Dark letters on dark background colors?? Good luck.
  11. Whats worse from a health perspective is the black mould that will start forming in the houses. I had that happen many years ago, and it is really hard to come back from that. Lots of paperwork, inspections, and money. The good thing is that houses are not transportable like a vehicle, and I don't expect to see any of those houses show up here in Boquete.
  12. Dear Fenix person or people, I wish you well. The few times I went to the Fenxi it seemed to be disorganized. And then the selection of the movies were not to my liking. My biggest issue with Fenix was that I could not remember what was happening, and found no way to figure it out. Better marketing skills might have helped,. To late now tho. Two up and two down. All the best to Lucy and now Joy.
  13. I am really disappointed in how this recycling thing is going. Who gives a rip whether there is a recycling place n David? I don't care whether it is a good one or a bad one. I am in Boquete. Are you expecting me to go to David to recycle my discards? What about the fuel required to do that? Not to mention the time, and then only certain items are accepted. Get real. And no feedback about the recent recycling meeting at the library, it appears that is a dead effort. Let the do gooders do some good here in Boquete. Until then, my discards are going into the city trash.
  14. Just curious if you Canadian expats would get better service at the banks here in Boquete if you wrote checks instead of cheques?
  15. What a poor job of labeling this positing. Are US citizens informing US citizens of this activity? (Actually non-activity.) Never met Penny, and not blaming her. She just sends out this poorly prepared crap.
  16. Black water is defined as the discharge from a toilet according to many dictionaries. Am I the only one seeing a correlation between this topic and the ZIKA problem with this other posting?
  17. I guess you are saying that fake news has finally made its way to Panama. How sad.
  18. It is a shame that I can't access that news article. I am very interested in this turn of events, but can't read the that you referenced. Can you try again and give something that will work?
  19. Curious why you are bringing in US political crap into this news feed? Better still, onto this website? I come here to get away from that crap and you stick it back into my face.
