  1. Yes Roger. The discussions on .ning reminded me of her similar background and show format. Just checked and it wrapped up in 2009.
  2. Seems like the online community may be spread out for a while.
  3. 99.9% of accidents are caused by human error. Mark, it seems like you're just pulling these numbers off the top of your head and forcing me to look up statistics which disprove you. According to a study conducted by the U.S. Department of Transportation, National Highway Safety Traffic Administration the 'Critical pre-event reason for crashes' can be attributed to the Driver 94%, Environment 2%, Vehicle 2%, Unknown 2%, of the time. Driver-related Critical reasons include the 'recognition' error of 41% (inattention, internal and external distractions, inadequate surveillance), and Decision error accounted for 33% (driving too fast for conditions, driving too fast for curves, false assumptions and misjudgments of others' movements, and illegal maneuvers) Driverless cars may be a good option for the future, but they're not going to save any lives now.
  4. The threat of tickets is far, far removed from the behavior that causes accidents and has little if any effect on it. OK, Mark. Let's assume that these statements are facts and not just your opinions. Randomly giving speeding tickets to otherwise safe drivers is like taking the prostates out of 100 healthy men in the hope that one of them will actually have dangerous cancer. How would you propose to reduce highway deaths caused by speeding given the circumstances? Please don't suggest building better safer highways because that's just not going to happen.
  5. November 28th is always a tough day to move around town or even get from one end to the other. ..and because it's Parade day, it often rains to beat the band.
  6. The flags on the light standards indicate that the photo was definitely taken from the Tico side. The fact that there is also a billboard for Panama in the pic had me thinking it was taken near Paso Canoas.
  7. Just my opinion, but Mr. Williams apparent need to maintain his procedures and protocols as priorities always seems to supercede any genuine desire to share information.

    Maybe 2 attendants are needed.
  9. Has summer begun? Just a sprinkle of rain and stiff breezes today.

Jillian just told me that the Police showed up just before 11:00 a.m. and tagged a lot of illegally parked cars.
  11. Yes, the post is confusing. Probably supposed to read "member of a group which has expats who have sued their host country."

The theatre isn't big enough for some of the audiences that certain speakers attract. Blocking the exit aisles from the theatre is probably more dangerous, but less noticeable, than blocking the exit in the parking lot. Is the designated Exit at the Oasis end of the parking area functioning or are some people still trying to leave through the Enter Only gate?
  13. A meteorite landed near Puerto Armuelles. http://laestrella.com.pa/vida-de-hoy/planeta/meteorito-cayo-costas-puerto-armuelles/23905836
  14. An article this morning in La Estrella talks about a natural gas storage facility and generating station In Colon. There was a plant on the books a few years ago that was cancelled, if I'm not mistaken. http://laestrella.com.pa/economia/planta-natural-especificaciones-canal-panama/23905732
  15. Instead of repeating a rumour that may have no basis, why don't you try asking others what they know about the place? Just a suggestion.
  16. Taking the old section of highway from Los Algarrobos to David would allow a person to bypass the section adjacent to the site.
  17. Chicken Wings are the craze everywhere, it seems. A friend in Canada who is a partner in a chain of successful places told me that the demand for wings in North America is so high that in order to ensure a steady supply they need to import product from Brazil. Buffalo Wings Factory is also a sports bar located directly behind El Fogon on Avenida 1ra, a one-way. Someone took me there last week. The Chicken fingers were massive, tasty and plentiful. Not sure if Lost Wings is still around.

    Flooding Photos

If I'm not mistaken a head of water coming out of the futbol stadium grounds rips up the road at that point. At one time it took out a section of the wall.
