  3. "Foundation of Old Panama City" is a regional holiday that typically is celebrated in the Panama City area. Chiriqui-based governmental offices, banks, and private businesses, etc., may or may not honor this holiday, but unofficial information suggests closures outside of Panama City are highly unlikely.

  5. For Graciela: Keith is a member of CL. You may communicate with him privately via CL using the "private messaging" (PM) functionality. Here is a link to his profile: http://www.chiriqui.life/profile/61-keith-woolford/. When you click on that link, then to the right of his display name you will find two links. The first link will "follow" Keith. The second link opens up the PM composition dialog. Only you and he can see the contents of what you send to him via a PM.

  8. Thank you to our members for these kind words, support, and contributions. We try to keep improving CL, and regret that sometimes it takes longer than desired to make improvements. Please keep your suggestions and ideas coming forward. Everyone benefits when you do that. Marcelyn and Bud
  9. At the request of several CL members, Judy's topic about dying at home has been converted to PDF format for easy download and printing. Death in Panama - Dying at Home.pdf Downloading of documents on CL requires a successful registration. Registration and use of CL is free. Just click on the "sign up" link in the upper right of the home page.
  10. The American Citizen Services (ACS) Unit at the U.S. Embassy in Panama has recently received a number of questions from U.S. Citizens regarding the new Social Security Administration my Social Security online tool. In order to use this new tool, U.S. Citizens must meet the following requirements: You must be able to verify some information about yourself and: · have a 10-digit cell phone number that can receive text messages, · have a valid E-mail address, · have a Social Security Number, · have a U.S. mailing address, and · be at least 18 years of age. Based on the messages we have received, many U.S. Citizens in Panama have attempted to register for this new tool but, when they attempt to enter an 11-digit Panamanian cellphone number, the website does not accept it. Unfortunately, at this time, the my Social Security tool can only be used by individuals who are able to provide a 10-digit number. The Social Security Administration is working on improving the tool and making it accessible to a larger group of people but, at this time, only individuals who can provide a 10-digit cellphone number can use the service. The Social Security Administration encourages customers who will not be able to access their personal my Social Security account to visit their website at www.socialsecurity.gov/agency/contactto learn about other ways to contact them to access their benefits information. --

  13. Bonnie, Your posting has been incredibly well received. This afternoon I found three requests for your posting to be converted to PDF format so that it could be downloaded, printed out in a nice format, and then saved on a local device. At first, I was not aware of how to achieve that goal, and actually responded to two people via email to that effect. And then I did some research. This is not an issue with CL, but rather a data interoperability issue that I previously was not aware of how to achieve. Turned out not to be difficult at all. I am presuming that you you would not object, and so I am posting a PDF version of your posting here for others to download and print out. My Experience Dealing with Death in Panama.pdf P.S., To download documents from CL, a user must be a registered user and logged in.

  15. A prior posting on this same general subject was merged with this topic for continuity purposes. We now know why President Varela, the vice president, and the first lady were personally attending the Pope's Youth Conference in Krakow this month -- as the host for the next such conference in three years.
  16. The presentation materials were posted on CL as indicated along with a special announcement. And there was a notice sent out via News Boquete as well. The Dr. Jennifer Daniels talk on Tuesday, July 19th, was almost a full house. During her talk, she was asked if her presentation materials could be made available to the public. She agreed to make the presentation available. Click here on this link to download her presentation materials: BCP July 2016 optimized.pdf Three notes about downloading the presentation materials: The presentation is in PDF format, so everyone should be able to view and printout the documentation. Even though optimized (reduced in size) from the original source file that she provided, this still is a rather large file, in excess of 2.1 MB, so it may take a while to download. Downloading may require membership on this website. Membership is free, so if you are not already a member, then signup for an account, and then you will be able to download this presentation (and everything else on this website). Click in the upper right on the "SignUp" link if you are not already a member. If you wish to visit Jennifer's website, go to http://vitalitycapsules.com/
  20. It sounds like you have things under control. Given what I currently know, it seems appropriate (as Admin_01) to leave this topic visible in order for all to see near closure. If you prefer otherwise, please send me a private message.
