  2. FYI, there is an ability to selectively view only the [new] content on CL that a member wishes to see. In a nutshell, the "activity stream" functionality of this website is configurable by each member to their own needs and desires. Here is a link to more information on creating your own custom activity stream (or streams): http://www.chiriqui.life/topic/2256-how-do-i-configure-the-activity-stream-to-see-only-the-new-content-that-i-want-to-see/
  3. Might I suggest that you review the description for this forum -- http://www.chiriqui.life/forum/87-news-boquete/

  5. This is a piece of technical support information: The reason for Bud having provided Casa Decor Boquete's name on CL as a hotlink "reference" (i.e., the blue highlighting with the "@" prefix) is so that you can click on that hotlink. That takes you to the indicated profile, and that can lead you to gaining access to all of their contact information and hours of operation, etc. Simply click on the blue hotlink, then select any of their postings. If you scroll to the bottom of any of their postings you will find their signature block. It has all of the pertinent information about how to contact them, etc. [Note that signature blocks display only when a member has entered such information in their profile (as this member has done), and only to registered members while they are logged into CL; guests cannot see signature blocks.] P.S., if you wish to use a "reference" in your postings, first be sure that your cursor is after a space character, then simply type an asterisk ('@') and immediately start typing the desired display name (no spaces between the asterisk and the first character of a display name), and the software will start providing you options as you add more characters. Select the desired display name, and you have a "reference" hotlink inserted into your text.

  16. Sorry to hear of this Dottie. We try harder, but sometimes stuff happens. Let me know if the problem continues and I will see what I can do.
  17. Dottie, you can quote from as many different replies as you wish in a single posting that you create. Here is the procedure: With the first post that you want to quote, simply click on the "Quote" link in the bottom left of that posting. That starts a reply and automatically adds the entire reply as a quote. Then type whatever you want to say in response to that quoted text. Start a new paragraph (this is important), and then scroll up and click the Quote link in the next reply that you wish to include. Then type whatever you want to say in response to that quoted text. Then repeat steps 3 and 4 to your heart's content. Hope this helps.

Hil, As a blog owner here on CL, you have considerable control over your blog. I see that you have locked this blog entry. That is one of the tools available for blog owners to use to manage their blog. Admins can override such locks, as I am doing here, but it is very rare that I do so. Other tools include deleting content, which you have also discovered. Speaking now specifically as an administrator of this website, you get to set the rules for your blog. Your desire not to turn your posting into marketing or a critique is reasonable, but even if it were not reasonable, you have that right and the tools to manage your blog. All CL users should respect your choices. The admins only step in when rules or guidelines are being violated, and you have never even gotten close to violating any of CL's rules or guidelines. I am a bit concerned that my clarification of your reference to a website may have caused the diversion into critiquing and marketing. That was not my intention. I had an uneasy feeling after reading your original blog posting because you made reference to more information about that project but then did not elaborate; that is what caused my inquiry. Please know that I was not trying to hijack your posting and turn it into a marketing tool for the developers. I have two purposes for posting this reply. One is to highlight ('advertise' might be a better word) the fact that blog owners have considerable control (much more so than postings in the forums channel) over their blog. And secondly to highlight that many people read and appreciate the information that you post in your blog entries. Thank you for re-posting your information about your visit to Isla Boca Brava. And thank you for being a contributing CL member. Bud

  24. Keith, Bud apparently missed or overlooked or forgot about your earlier topic on this same subject. I have merged the two topics back into one. I will scold the lad the next time our paths cross.
