  1. So, Penny, I also noticed the Zapadora's display ad for the Boquete Handbook on Ning is still present today. Confusing. When do/did the new Ning owners take (took) over?
  2. Suggesting that Olga's purpose and technique is to increase postings on Ning.
  3. Sounds like a special meal -- glad you enjoyed the experience.
  4. "Jubilado discount applies only to the five main courses listed on the menu" and this is "to keep their prices down"...... My question : is this legal? I'll ask my attorney, but this sounds like a poor excuse. Anyway, I will continue to eat at restaurants that provide good food at reasonable prices and honor the jubilado discount according to the rule of law.
  5. Keith what is your message? None of the items you show have something to do with the original question that was asking for information. Is there a Riba Smith store in this area that I don't know about?
  6. I believe I read Very Confused in this answer from Mr. Wilson. Perhaps he doesn't get Penny's message. Moving on.....too much Ning nonsense.
  7. What is really going on? Olga doesn't even live here. Why is she asking us to contribute money to this program? What is her accounting of money donated? I am not anti kid, and already am contributing through channels that have proven their credibility. Why can't her followers on Ning contribute to "her" cause? How can someone who isn't here to support and monitor going to be able to assure those of us coughing up money that it really goes to what has been advertised? This request for money just doesn't pass the smell test and I want nothing to do with it. Surprised this was posted on News Boquete--why was it?
  8. Attention Cacao Cafe: Looks like you didn't get the word about posting in red text, so here it is. Big possibility people on this website will not even read a post that is in red ink. Many negative feelings regarding posts in red. Now you know.
  9. Does anyone have pictures taken at the Feria that they are willing to post on this website?
  10. Yikes.......so now Bob G. Is now providing ugly red letter posting, double space info for Irene's books. Guess I don't bother to read this either.
  11. Bob G. Stop using this awful red/maroon color or I will refuse to try and read anything you post.
  12. Question to Bob G. Why do you post your comments in red? No one else finds it necessary to use this method and my eyes are tried of trying to read anything in this glaring color. Please do a favor and stop using this red color.
  13. Confusing, but "very old topic" info souds right---yesterday I read an article there about a robbery in Boquete. Thinking "why didn't I get this notice?" I read the published item again and noticed it was apparently just a re-posting of an April, 2014 happening. Resurrecting old posts?
  14. Does anyone know someone representing The Pets Want Homes organization? I'm wondering why their notice about the next Boquete spay/neuter clinic is only posted on other websites and not here.
  15. Question here. Does this statement by Bob Gregory mean that the role of Alto al Crimen is only that of an investigating organization? Seems that he is saying that AAC does that and also report "occurrences". What does that really mean? When, how, and to whom is their report of criminal activity published to alert the community? Also, I don't remember seeing details and results of any investigation done by AAC. Seems the real function of AAC is to talk about security items that people can consider after a crime has been committed. This is good, but where's the report that a robbery, break-in, shooting, etc. happened? I want to learn about a criminal activity close to when it happened.
  16. An 8 percent increase in the minimum wage?? Soon places like "International Living" will need to raise their dollar estimate of necessary money to live in Panama. Willing to pay more for better quality and good customer service (no talking to a friend on phone when I'm waiting to purchase an item). There is a direct relationship between salaries and cost of items like tomatoes, eggs, rice, beans, and other items. As salaries go up so do all prices for other items. Just my opinion but soon expats will choose another country for retirement living.
  17. Ning.com is a website and Boquete.ning.com is just one instance, a piece of that big website. So any community of common interest, e.g., Denver.ning or Phoenix.ning or MyPhotoClub.ning any other location/group is possible. I'm wondering if computer savvy people just click on their local Ning and find their way to Boquete.ning. Of course the Ning program costs money (reason to have advertisers who pay a fee). I agree the Boquete.ning has little info about our Boquete and wonder what the new folks think about the people who live here. Haven't read Ning for many weeks, but the last reading makes me remember the topics ("woman with two heads", "boy who swims to the moon", etc.) on the so called tabloid newspapers posted at the check-out stand in grocery stores in US.
  18. Roger L:. I don't believe anything posted on Ning. Just people looking for something to do in my opinion. ???
  19. You are correct, Bonnie. It seems that the US Consulate, the wardens, and especially our warden for Boquete have a good communications systems going to help keep us informed. The warden here in Boquete just humbly does his job without any need for praise or recognition.
  20. Give Don Ray a little slack? Okay. What I'm hearing is that Bud is the only person doing all the admin work for CL. Let's give them both a little slack and move on beyond this non-issue. Not taking sides or opinion offered here. Just moving on...........?
  21. This looks like a legal resolution to me also, Woody. Now a non issue.
