  1. 100% hospital 100% surgery 100% anestesia $1000 year for ambulance $100 per event $100 copay hospital $200 copay Punta Pacifica 30% copay xrays $500,000.00 year coverage Transplants max $250,000.00 Yearly deductible $350 $5000 max on pharmacy or medicines vaccinations are listed seperately but cheap And $20,000.00 death policy included $247.00 month As I stated it's for all of central america not Mexico. There are other small benifits but I'm too lazy to type them. Contact Pan Am. My GF has the Same Benifits with the same company for Panama only because she is under 65 and $101 monthly. Different strokes for different folks. I have more coverage than i need in the usa with medicare and 100 disable vet coverage. I just want to cover my ass while in central america. With coverage with Punta Pacifica I doubt I would travel to the US for any treatment. Besides, I was paying $500 monthly for BCBS with less coverage actually. Punta Pacifica is the way to go with serious problems. David hospitals could hopefully stabalize until transfer to Panama City. If you're are under 65 you can save probably minimum $150 a month for good insurance with this company.
  2. Pan American Life in David is an american owned health provider. They are out of new orleans. They have been doing business in central and south america for over 20yrs. I have two plans. Mine is as good if not better than BCBS at half the price for a single person in the USA and it covers all of "central america" not including Mexico. Her Plan is the extact same as mine for Panama only for $101 a month. I couldn't get the Panama Only Plan because of my age, over 65, but it is affordable and a good policy. But they did include Panama in the central american plan. It's all about the money. They require a physical and blood work from Mae Lewis or Hospital Chiriqui. Ironically it pays more when reimbursing for Mae Lewis than Hospital Chiriqui. Hospital Chiriqui is considered "preferred" because of staff and equipment. Ironically, the same doctors work both hospitals I've been told. The equipment must be different to a degree hence the higher price for Hospital Chirqui. Once again, it's about the money. Also, it's about what you can afford. I am covered with Pan Am at one of the best hospitals in the world, Punta Pacifica Hospital, Panama City, Panama (John Hopkins Hospital). If you want to know the price of my coverage message me. If you want details for different plans visit them in the strip mall on the left after crossing the over pass in David. You'll need spanish skills or someone with spanish skills with you. My broker speaks perfect English and helped me at times in the Pan Am office. If you want the brokers name and number message me. He can get you quotes from several companies pretty quick by email.
  3. We had a great time. Medellin is a nice, clean, and a modern city. Lots of things to see and great food. I was surprised this is a Very Cheap vacation in a 4 star hotel. Parque Arvi is amazing. Lot of arts and crafts for sale. The Hiking Trails are for serious hikers only. It's really cool up there and you can see all of Medellin while in the gondola. While going up the side of the mountain you will see how the poor people live. Lot of good history displayed in Medellin. Parque Pablado is a great park also and it is in centro Medellin. I was suprised at the art in the city also. Highly recommend the trip. Planning another trip soon; Cuba, Peru---Machu Picchu, Ecuador and Galapagos. Think we will do the paper with names in a basket and draw one out!! All of the dogs on Parque Arvi were healthy pets and would walk with you if you snapped your fingers other wise they eat and sleep!
  4. It's about time the U.S. starting sending a message. They needed a start date. Maybe Haiti will do the right thing now.
  5. Not much good for us living in Chiriqui. Maybe they will start a connection from David to Panama Pacifico International Airport.

    Mini Vacation Costa Rica

Great little vacation to the Quepos area. I had been there before but never visited the tropical rain forest. Quite the adventure. All of the guides were talking about La Nino changing things 4 years out. They said the immediate transition would be felt the most. I believe them as they have first hand experience in the rain forest with La Nina and La Nino.
  7. I retired from a college with "smart class rooms". We had to go with HDMI 5 years ago. Panama is a little behind on the products using HDMI technology. HDMI provides better color and sound for projectors and other devices. The VGA To HDMI works well here in Boquete. A friend of mine used it for a little while. When they bought the new projector it did not have the VGA so no choice but go with HDMI cable. In the end, it's best to upgrade projectors or buy one that has WiFi capabilities and hope for WiFi at all locations (both options are the best). I had one projector on the college campus that cost $25,000. It was a Sony. It stored presentations (microsoft products such as spread sheets) was WiFi capable and could be manipulate from off campus. It would send me an email if the projector was left on after a certian hour and I could turn it off with my cell phone. Good luck.
  8. Yes small buggie things are happening. I had to reinstall my printer 2 times. It has held up now for some reason. Sticky Notes went absolutely nuts so I wrote down the old notes on paper, delete the old ones, rewrote new notes and it works fine. Don't have a clue what repaired sticky notes. I expected some issues but these small ones aren't too bad. No Major problems yet. I have noticed a little unstable behavior but not much. Then it goes away pretty quick. The Cortana is a real pain in the ass. You have to go into DOS to disable it and that's scary for the common user. No way to just turn it off.
  9. Penny, thanks so much. They had just what I needed. THE HUNT IS OVER FOLKS!!!
  10. I will drop by there tomorrow Penny. thanks

    2016 USA Election For President

Dennis, I'm a Vietnam Vet with PTSD and no we should not have been there. Actually Vietnam took my early adulthood away from me. I never knew a normal life since Vietnam. I just did my duty and served honorably. I had two years left when I came back from Vietnam and was always asking my self; when will it end. I give credit to Nixon for getting us out. And I discredit Eisenhower for going there against the Japanese and French suggestions we would get Exactly what we got. I actually found some French war artifacts while in Vietnam. Kennedy and Johnson did not do a good job trying to win the war or get us out. I have voted across the isle many times on platform & experience & what would be good for everyone and not name. A side note; General Swartzkoff's autobiogrophy is a great book. I just reconnected with two of the guys that were in my platoon after over 45 years ago. Amazing.

    2016 USA Election For President

    I understand Gordon.
  15. In all my years I have never seen this much anger with politicians and the voting public. While in the US last month, I had time to visit friends and the election always came up. I didn't engage the political conversations much and don't here much either. But, having said this; There are more questions but I will keep this short. Does it really matter which one is elected? Could it get any better in the US than it was before Bush or after? Can a new president make sufficient foreign policy to keep the US out of wars? Can the Tax loop holes for the rich be changed? Can the infrastructure of the US be upgraded to modern times without taxes (federal highways/electrical grids)? Can regulations in general be changed to benifit everyone? Is the President's cabinet too large? Who benifits the most with Global Economy? Can the US be protected more from terrorist? Will a wall be built on both borders---North and South? Can Education and Child Care be improved in the US? Why not spend more on Elderly Health Care by the Government? This Election will come to an end soon and we can take day to day assesments of the new leadership. And, we that decided to move here can observe the results. Some issues in the USA are important to me like my family that live there and are affected by the out come. I'm not taking sides in the election merely asking questions. My answer to all of the above questions is NO to a degree. The reason; 4 years in office and a slow acting congress can't fix anything important (unless it's paid for under the table or benifits some greedy politician) Now, I could go on and on but I didn't retire here because of the state of the nation in the US nor am I searching for the hole grail nor are the cops after me!! I just found a place I love and respect. (Please remember my friends This Is A Blog monitored by the owner/administration). And if THEY disapprove I will take it down. Please use the ignore feature If you do not like my post or blog. I won't be offened you'll just be better off. Have a good day folks.

    Florida Visit

I visited Florida the third week of September. My sister and I stayed in her beach house for a week. I retired from a college and had to visit my former coworkers. And, all my hunting and fishing buddies were glad to see me. This was a real treat. They had tons of questions about Panama and were shocked (in a positive way) at some of the answers I gave them. Now, I'm greatful to be back in Boquete. The traffic, highway construction, crime, drugs, etc etc has not gotten any better in the USA. I was troubled at first trying to drive 75-80 mph on the TurnPike in Florida. Then it all came back to me----keep up or get your a$$ ran over. lol After returning to Boquete I had to make two different trips to Panama City. I rode the bus down there the first trip (return trip air.) Never again will I do this unless I can NOT afford a plane ticket. The traffic is horrible in Panama City and makes me appreciate Boquete even more. The last trip to Panama City we sat in the air plane at Albrook for two hours waiting for a window of opportunity to fly out for Boquete. Finally we made it. The pilot offered to offload the plane if we agreed. No one spoke a word and we suffered the two hours!! This is only one of the Sand Sculptures from Schooners Last Local Beach Club, Panama City Beach, Florida. These people are serious artist. In the end, Life Is Good.

    Metro/Subway Panama City

Great experience for Panama. Buy the Metro card ($2) at a kiosk before entering the gates. Then add money to the card at the kiosk. Simple as that. We rode the Via Argentina Route (L1) to Albrook mall. 35 cent per person one way. Fast, Clean, and Professional. It is safe to take it during rush hours in the daylight but I would recommend the off hours. We tried peak and off hours. Both are good but it is really crowed during rush hours.
