  1. Anyone have information about what is happening with the recycling program near La Posada restaurant? One day this place is open for business and the next day the gates are closed and locked and there was a handwritten sign saying "out of business" (but in Spanish, of course). Can't figure out their schedule for operation. I have noticed that people just toss their recycling material over the fence into the work area -- don't want to do that, but have kept "stuff" in my car while thinking "maybe tomorrow" the place will be open.
  2. Steve, Marcelyn here. I spent time at Lemon Creek. Near you? Don't have a map handy at the minute, but like Keith I remember the size of those mosquitos. Almost big enough to roast for dinner! For insurance here in Panama do check out Magda Crespo Ins. at Plaza San Fransisco (their ad is listed on this forum). You sound like good people. Come on down and enjoy all the good things Boquete has to offer. I
  3. I recall being in the audience when a lady with emotion in her voice asked the Mayor about installing a street light at the Caldera by-pass location. Very dark at this corner and is a spot where people wait for bus transportation. This request was several months ago and still no street light. I did hear this week that the delay is MOP. Any recent information?
  4. Bonnie: I've been in Panama only a few years and I agree with your thoughts about the electrical services! Very annoying to have guests for dinner and ...what...we're in the dark again, plus uncooked food! Or what about that television program that you will never know how the story ends. A generator helps, but expensive and not readily available for purchase (maybe have it shipped from US and be sure it works on diesel fuel). Bottom line is this electricity interruption is frequent and no showing of improvement that I have seen. I think the incomplete hydroelectric plant (protests may stop) will provide extra generation capacity, but what about distribution? Distribution is where the real problems are to my husband's way of thinking. I'm wondering if most people just accept this problem as a way of life here in Panama?
  5. So right about beautiful country located between Denver and Cheyenne.
  6. Thanks Don Ray. Please keep us posted. Eager to learn what's happening. We liked Mr Farrar. Sorry he no longer is assigned to Panama.
  7. I did my under-graduate work in Greeley, Colorado. Know this city? Don't know what the elevation is for this location, but I loved it there.
  8. Just received word from my good friend who lives in PC, and she tells me that no new US Ambassador to Panama has been assigned since Jonathan Farrar was re-posted to a different assignment.
  9. Thanks Twin Wolf. I enjoyed the article and I'm no longer concerned for this gentleman. Wishing him good health and a long life to enjoy beautiful Panama.
  10. JoJo: good technique for getting cats to take their medicine. I've had luck with mashing a pill and/or wrapping it in scrambled eggs to get him to take what the vet has prescribed. Whatever works with our four-legged friends, I guess. Seems like each one requires a different approach. (but they're worth it!)
  11. I was enjoying lunch in a local restaurant yesterday when I noticed a man eating his food while using a portable oxygen container. Surprised me (and maybe concerned me also) because I have been told that people with a heart condition or while using oxygen should not live in a high altitude area like Boquete. Is my information correct or just an opinion?
  12. Good to know this information about Yella Fever Band. I've heard Yella sing, and she is great. I'm betting all the members of this Band are also outstanding.

I love it........and oh how true!!
  14. When I lived in the US, always fed my two Dobermans veggies plus meat. Beautiful fur and healthy skin. Even got my cat on this menu (took a while) for him to eat some of the veggies.

Hil: What a program. Thanks for the pictures. I especially liked the trapez photos.
  16. Restaurant around the corner from Mike's Grill plus a few hundred feet along the road is the new location for Boquete Sandwich Shop. More space and a bigger menu selection than earlier. P.S. serves "Panama Red"!!
  17. This must be true that Sugar & Spice is "great place to eat and meet people" because the parking lot and surrounding area couldn't allow room for us to squeeze in. Will try later. Anyone know a best time for a second attempt?

    Portugal Circus----David

Easy to find this circus location----big tent, lots of cars, etc.
  19. As we were returning to Boquete earlier this afternoon, noticed a "police presence" at the bottom of the hill near the Spa sign. Looked like a police stop process because of the many car line-up. Took several minutes to get into town from David.
  20. Judy, you're getting help re not seeing new posts from Admin 01, Chica, and Bonnie. Any of this info working for you? Several very interesting and helpful posts on CL yesterday (thanks to the members!)

    Portugal Circus----David

When will another circus be available? Sounds like a worthwhile activity and something we (and many others in the area) might enjoy.
