  2. Howdy, Bud, I was wondering if this platform supported a floating "home" or "top of page" button like that other site used to have? Dav
  3. One of life's enduring mysteries: who handed Cleopatra her asp?
  4. This is perhaps the most comprehensive dissection of the *thing yet presented, Sir. May I add my voice to those who admire your principles -- and your grit. Davitt
  5. Now I know where to post. I'm interested to see if any Members of Chiriqui.Life would like to add to my collection of Balboas. My goal is to celebrate their artistic merits by papering the walls of various rooms with them. I'll send photos! wryawry
  6. Better to be panned than banned, I always say. Well, I will now, anyway. Your brand won't get fanned out-of-hand, but you're canned if you planned to stand with the clanned band in the banned land. Or so I'm given to understand. Ain't life grand? It's glandular, wryawry
  7. All I know is that I got a shot so I don't get a coup of the flu.
  8. As if *ning now needs help to hoist itself upon its own petard!
  9. Delicious irony from the new Queen of advanced intellectual study: Reply by Ambreen 7 hours agoWe prefer all posts to offer an association with Boquete and or Panama, as I posted earlier; However, a few will call us a censorship site and others will be upset for not censoring. We have reviewed histories on Ning where Lee has dealt with these same issues countless times. It goes with the territory in open forums. There is no perfect way out, it is impossible to please all. My suggestion, if those upset stop posting their displeasure's the post will go away on its own as it drops off screen. We do see it now has 1,000 page views over a few days, so it obviously has interest both in agreement of its controversy and or unhappy with its content. A member emailed me and said the following, " Ambreen, why would you keep responding to those demanding censor, if they do not like it, they can vote their censorship by simply not reading it,". Boquete ning, takes no position on the content, We ask others to respect others opinions which may oppose you. At the end of the day, we are only a website of opinions, no one is harming anyone with the words. As a famous member of ning always reminds us relaaaaax. We are all fine. I am accused of telling everyone to be happy. Its better than the alternative. Have a great day!
  10. Boquete Ning <Boqueteninger@gmx.com>Oct 29 (8 days ago) to me Wryawry Due to excessive baiting and member complaints of your disparaging conversations on Ning, we have deleted you as a member and assume you can continue your postings on the other forum sites for such conversations. AmbreenAdministrator The final straw that I added to the load on that tired old camel to ensure my suspension from *ning was a treatise on .... cinnamon toast. It went something like this: "I'm so pleased that Boquete*ning has settled into its new kinder, gentler world, devoid of spirited discussion and controversies-s-s-s-z-z-z-z-zzzzzzzzzzz .... Say can anyone tell me about cinnamon toast -- in Boquete? Do you put on the sugar first, or the cinnamon? After the butter, of course! But does one add the ingredients before toasting, or after? Toaster, oven, or toaster oven? And where do you get it? Do-It Center, Rodelag, or some special store at the frontera? What should one wash it down with? Leche, agua, juego, o Ron Abuelo? And what about the cinnamon? Do you grind it yourself, or buy it at Romero or Super 99? What kind of bread? What kind of sugar? Are these preferences specific to the greater Boquete area, or are they regional, throughout Chiriqui Province -- or across the length and breadth of Central America? I'm really trying to assimilate and to fit-in with cultural norms, so any additional information will be gratefully appreciated. dulce suenos, wryawry" Does anyone else attending the various sites pertaining to Chiriqui wonder if "Ambreen" is:1. Drunk.2. Stoned.3. Very young and immature.4. Plain and simple stoo-pud? I "responded to the Administrator", but no comic relief was forthcoming. Clearly Ambreen is outmatched and intellectually outgunned, if afraid to answer a simple request for the specifics of the complaints pertaining to the above, along with what I am sure is a long litany of additional offenses against the tender sensibilities of the new herd of sheep. I imagine forehead veins a-poppin' and flabbergasted spittle a-sputterin' and a-flyin'. What a bunch of macaroons! If there is a silver lining to this outrageous imbroglio, it is the sterling and august company whose ranks I rejoin -- for better or for worse. The surprise is that it took as long as it did, cuz the writing -- or lack thereof -- was surely on the *ning wall. The staggering absence of creativity and imagination, coupled with the abysmal inability to embrace the broad spectrum of community contributors, would surely have led to Lee blowing his beverage forcefully from both nostrils. Mediocrity tends to find its own level -- typically at the bottom of a cliff. Wuhl! See ya lay-der! My money is on stoo-pud. Monumental, fathomless stoo-pud. Coupled with absolute ignorance of the seventeen degrees of stoo-pud. A celebration of stoo-pud! Bah. Or, to hear it from Boquete*ning, "Baa-a-a-a-a-a-a-a......" Davitt M. ArmstrongDurango, Colorado
  11. Click "more", upper right. Click "mark site as read". Click "okay". Done.
  12. Thanks. FYI, soon after having made the original observation, a star was born. Rather, it was finally noticed. When it comes to technology, I ain't bad with a pipe wrench ... Dav
  13. It will sadden my myriad fans (both of them) (the ones in my head) to learn that wryawry will be unable to contribute to the narrative here on Chiriqui.Life today. While perusing national news, I was inadvertently exposed to a photograph of one Trey Gowdy, along with choice accompanying commentary. The ensuing hilarity caused coffee to explode from my nostrils, destroying my keyboard, and causing a related short-circuit that fried transformers all the way down to the Navajo Coal-Fired Electrical Generating Station, just outside Page, AZ. I understand that emergency repairmen hope to restore power to the Las Vegas strip later this morning. In the meantime, BEWARE. Don't subject yourself to the mindless shenanigans of Zippy the Pinhead lest you find yourself suffering similar straits. In other news far, far away from Chiriqui, Provincial Governments all across Canada have been forced to deploy snowplows early this year to clean-up the carnage resulting when tens of thousands of conservative heads spontaneously blew-up as the result of National elections, blocking highways and sidewalks. Rumors abound that the World has, indeed, come to an end. The takeaway lesson is that all fortunate enough to be in Chiriqui Province this fine day should be thankful and grateful. wryawry
  14. When flames are fanned, and you make a stand, you're not just canned, you're utterly BANNED. Understand? Speak to the hand, wryawry
  15. In this case, "controversially People" is used conversationally, as when a controversial ally is instinctively and dis-ambiguously exculpatory. Hope this clears things up, wryawry
  16. High time that "culture" has been introduced here on Chiriqui.Life. Being a world-renowned, culturally-refined gentleman of exquisite good taste, I would like to volunteer my services to any ordinary slob wishing to increase his "CQ" -- his "cultural quotient". With concentrated training, I can transform any mundane knucklehead into a suave sophisticate -- a real Renaissance Man -- much like myself. At this Special Introductory Price of only $9.99 Balboas, I guarantee that you will be so smooth that the other guys will get jealous, but the chicks will swoon. Sorry, this offer is for clumsy, goof-ball men only, because girls are all soft and pretty and they smell good and they make me stammer and stumble and sweat and stuff. Oh, yeah. And fashion, too. Fashion is totally my life. Classily, wryawry
  17. No este nada! Este mucho! (Speaking of Escuelas de Espanol ....)
  18. This is the question that has always plagued me! signed, Suliman the Magnificent
  19. Anything limiting connection to the existing water heater? Likely more economical to operate in the long run. For an undercounter tank-type, I'd recommend at least five gallons. Got a model #? Even with 110v, some units require a dedicated 20A service -- worth checking first! Drain tank-type heaters 1x/year.
