Survival/command phrases will cover topics of: health, security, and personal needs. Tuesday, February 27 -- Volcan Baru, a sleeping volcano, looms ominously on our western horizon. When will it erupt and what are the real dangers? Dr. Paul Myers retired geology professor (University of Wisconsin, 1968-1997), with considerable volcano experience, will review recent studies which accurately describe Baru’s long, unique history, and enumerate its most probable hazards . . . especially for people living in the Caldera River valley. Valleys radiating from the Baru summit are potential pathways for dangerous mudflows called lahars. He will close with suggestions for mitigating the deadliest effects of a Baru eruption. Following the talk, Dr. Myers will distribute hand-outs and solicit participants for a March 3 caravan tour of the Boquete area. Tuesday, March 6 – Stressed? Interpersonal conflicts? Cope better by learning to “Surf it!” Stress is a normal phenomenon of life; without it boredom would set in; but too much of it causes health problems. The latest research indicates that it’s not stress, per se, that causes problems, but one’s attitude towards it. There are many techniques offered to ‘manage’ stress, to avoid or release stress, and a new model of ‘stress surfing’ created by a Russian psychiatrist that offers a way to ride the energy wave of stress and benefit from it. This talk will present research, insights and simple but powerful techniques based on ‘stress surfing’ to help cope better with stress and interpersonal conflicts, which are often sources of stress and challenges. Dr. Theo Cope has presented workshops on ‘stress surfing’ to embassies, international companies, patients, parents and students while living in China and he is part of an international “Stress Surfing” network. Rotten Tomatoes - 95% From a review by James Berardinelli at Reelviews.net: Simply put, Sofia Coppola's Lost in Translation is an amazing motion picture. There may be some controversy over whether she truly wrote the screenplay on her own (there are sequences that argue that she at least had help from someone with a little more experience in life and marriage), but that doesn't impact the final analysis. This study into the unfathomable depths of human relationships has more honesty than 95% of the movies I have seen this year. Beautifully photographed with some amazing shots of nighttime Tokyo (and I thought Times Square was garish!), and a gorgeously composed scene of two characters reflected in a plate glass window as they hold a conversation, this movie has a look to match its acting and content. The film details the "accidental" relationship that develops between Bob (Bill Murray) and Charlotte (Scarlett Johansson). El Matador’s NEW MOLD AND ODOR KILLER SERVICE The name, El Matador means “the killer.” Every El Matador product is designed to kill something. It may be germs, mold, arthritis, osteoporosis, candida infections, rust or other things. Probably all of us have had the experience of noticing musty, moldy odors in the bathrooms, bedrooms, closets, store rooms, cabinets or other areas of our homes. Some homes and cars also have cigarette smoke odors, and others have dog or cat odors or strong kitchen odors. For any of these, and more, the answer is using El Matador Mold and Odor Killer Service. For preventing or killing mold on specific articles of clothing, shoes, furniture, area rugs, draperies, etc., it’s hard to beat El Matador Mold Killer in spray bottles. But for killing mold and its odors in whole rooms or whole houses, you need ozone that can permeate all the nooks and crannies of the house. There are some very nice (and rather expensive) ozone air freshening machines that can be kept in your home, running 24 hours per day. Back in the US I had one. But here we tend to leave windows and doors open most of the time, which allows the ozone to drift out of the house and not do its job. Also you generally need a higher concentration of ozone to kill off mold infections. El Matador is offering for rent a commercial-grade ozone generator. It produces a lot of ozone to produce a “shock treatment” in your room, home or car. This is not the type of machine that you can just leave running in your home all the time. You need to place it in a central part of the area you wish to treat, open all closets, cabinets and cubby holes, close all the windows and outside doors, turn on ceiling fans or circulating fans and go away while the ozone is permeating your home. The time for mold treatment depends on the total area. It can also depend on the degree of mold growth you need to deal with. A rule of thumb is about an hour for every 100 square feet or 10 square meters. The time for clearing cigarette smoke odors and other odors can usually be shorter, while heavier mold problems make take longer. Smaller cars need around one hour of treatment, while station wagons and SUV’s need around two hours. The machine has a one hour timer and a continuous “ON” switch. If you plan to go away while your home is treated for a number of hours, I can loan a timer for longer operation. After treatment, you need to allow thirty to forty minutes to air out the room(s) or house. The Ozone is not dangerous, but breathing it at concentrated levels may irritate your nose or throat. The rental rate for the machine is $15.00 for 24 hours or fraction thereof. There is no extra charge if you need to borrow a timer. Both use normal 120 volt household electricity. There is a $50.00 refundable deposit, so payment at pickup is $65.00. If you find that you need to keep the machine for more than 24 hours, you can call me to say you need the extra time, and I can deduct the fee for the extra day from the deposit. The deposit or remaining balance is refunded at the time the machine is returned. You may reserve the machine by calling me at 6745-2828 or sending an email to usn11958@gmail.com. Hello everybody. We were able to get our Gold Center Stage seats in the theater at ¨”jubilado” price..so we were able to adjust our total price for this trip to $250.00….instead of $300.00!!! This presentation is an analysis of the origin of the blues, which started in Texas and Mississippi (most people think about only the latter).
