  7. Members 221 951 posts Report post Posted 10 minutes ago The sale at the Handicap Foundation (FPI) on Saturday was a huge success. All previous records were broken within the first hour. Now, here's the thing. There's still a lot of stuff left over and a bunch of new stuff came in too late to sort and price. And new stuff is still coming in. We expect a lot of things will be brought in from the many moving sales in town. Although all the volunteers are pretty much exhausted, the decision was made to continue the sale during regular hours at the Handicap. We can do that with the full-time employee, Migdalia and a handful of volunteers. So, the sale continues . . . Thursday (3/22) 10-3; Friday (3/23) 10-3; Saturday (3/24) 9-12 The Handicap Foundation is located just north of the new policlinic (under construction) and across the street from Chopsticks Chinese Restaurant in Alto Boquete.
  8. Hello, With a very heavy heart we are so sad to have to say that our Sadie was killed earlier this week by a vicious serpent. Sadie was our "Mother" weimeraner that we have had since we arrived in Panama 7 years ago. She was loving and incredibly affectionate. Her guardian and hunting instincts eventually led to her demise as she simply couldn't help herself but to seek out and eliminate any yard threats. The snakes here are no joke and if you have a loved pet that likes to run around in the brush be sure to watch them carefully. She was a good dog and will be missed. Life goes on and so this week we went crazy cooking it up!! It's Pot Pie week and after all the preorders through our website there are only a few remaining. This week we have also added some Mexican Tortilla soup with black beans, grilled corn, roasted red peppers, and a delicious blend of aromatics. This soup comes with tortilla chips and serves up great with sour cream and cheddar cheese. Next we will have some Indian Chicken Tikka Masala. This version is more on the medium spicy level as the peppers we used weren't that spicy. It also has reduced sodium if you are watching your salt intake. Tikka Masala is a rich and exotic Indian dish that originated in the UK. Consisting of cream, tomato sauce, peppers, and garlic, with a cultured milk marinated chicken this dish is full of wonderful and authentic Indian flavors. Serve over Jasmine or Basmati Rice and a garnish of culantro to finish it off!! We have made some fermented beet and garlic sauerkraut this week. This sauerkraut has quickly risen to the ranks of top favorite in our kitchen as it really makes for a delicious fermented/probiotic rich snack. Check out this picture of a salad that we made using peeled oranges, fermented beet sauerkraut, feta cheese, mint leaves, and honey. Finally this week at the BCP market for the very first time we will be introducing our Artisan Salami with free samples. The actual product won't be ready for a few more weeks but we were able to pull some smaller diameter salamis from our drying chamber and I just couldn't help myself but want to share it with you. So if you plan on being at the BCP and want to taste some authentic "Old World" salami made with traditional flavors be sure to swing by the 2 Guys Booth!! This week we will have a Finocchiona (fennel) Salami and an Italian Spicy Cacciatore Salami. We are working on developing about 10 other outrageous flavors that will soon be available. Cherry Salami with a pistachio crust, black garlic and white wine salami, bleu cheese cranberry and walnut salami, just to name a few!! We will also be producing artisan pepperoni, coppa, lonzino, bresaola, pancetta, lamb and duck prosciutto, as well as some other really cool charcuterie plate options. The only down side is that they take a while to make!! If you've ever wanted to know what it takes to make salami I have posted a video for you to watch that covers the entire process. It's a rudimentary video that covers the basics and I was able to take 2 days worth of footage and condense it down into 20 minutes. I hope you like it and I can't wait to give away some SALAMI at the BCP on Tuesday!! Swing by and get yours. How To Make Salami. The Secrets Revealed!!! If you would like to sign up for our weekly newsletter and menu update please click this link and be sure to fill out the email form. We send out an email each week with updates from our kitchen. There's always something crazy going on over here!! Join By Clicking Here http://doshombrespanama.com/our-menu/ Finally please click this link to check out our menu. Our menu is ever changing and we add new items weekly to it. If you see anything that you like please complete the ordering process online and select how you would like to receive it. We try to make our service easy and convenient so if your experience is anything other than easy and convenient then please let me know... We are here to serve you. Thanks for letting me do your cooking!!

Dr. Paul Myers retired geology professor (University of Wisconsin, 1968-1997), with considerable volcano experience will share his ”observations” of Baru and what they may reveal of its violent past, even what they might mean for the future. Why doesn’t Baru “look like” a typical volcano? Why no lava flows? What’s the origin of all the steep-walled terraces and deep canyons? Why all the boulders? How will an eruption affect Boquete? No matter how good you are - in the Boquete area, no one is an “expert”. More questions than answers. FREE ADMISSION Tuesday, April 3 – ACODECO (The Authority for Consumer Protection and Defense of Competition). Licda. Tuesday, June 12 – Carla Black, Panama’s expert on heliconias, water lilies, and other native plants. Tuesday, June 19 – Glenn Davis, author, lecturer, college professor, historian, and Boquete resident. He is the author of 4 books available on Amazon.com, three other books published in Japanese by leading Japanese publishers and hundreds of articles on Japan and Japan-American relations. One book is titled "How We Lived in Wellborn before Television" about the small town in Texas where he grew up in the 1950’s. He took note that Wellborn residents were very close-knit and friendly. People visited each other, sat out on their front porches and didn't lock their doors. But that was before TV arrived and changed everything about the small village. People did not visit as much and socialization virtually stopped inside homes as everyone was glued to their new boob tubes. Glenn will present a thoughtful comparison of today's cell phone and computer technology with the TV invasion of the past. Are cell phones the new TV? You can now see people sitting at home with their cell phones glued to their hands sending messages to each other in the same room, even on the same sofa. Real communities are being replaced by virtual ones. Where is all this tapping and beeping leading societies? Depressing or enlightening, the audience can choose. To suggest a speaker or topic for these meetings please email BCP Tuesday Meeting To become a vendor at the Tuesday market, Facility Manager
  12. "The Clubhouse" in the BCP Hex Room has food and drink - including popcorn available for purchase. These items may be taken into the theater, but please clean up after yourselves so we don't have to hire a janitor. ------------------------------ There is no admission charge, but we do ask for donations to support BCP and the Film Club program. March Films: March 25 - Coco (USA - 2017) ---------------------------------- This week's movie: Sunday, March 18 @ 1:00pm - Mudbound (USA - 2017) 2 hours, 14 minutes - Rated "R" Ratings: 7.5 - IMDB, 96% - Rotten Tomatoes, 4/4 - Roger Ebert Mudbound received 4 Academy Award nominations, but did not win. Overall, the film was nominated for 99 awards from various organizations [LINK] and won 29. From RogerEbert.com: “Mudbound” is all about perception. How it can foster empathy and engender contempt, sometimes in the same person. How it can cause one man to look at his land with life-affirming pride and another man to see that same plot as the kiss of death. How an act of wartime courage involving a red-tailed plane and a dark-skinned pilot can forever alter one’s opinion of a different race. And how a society can impose unfair, harmful and absurd restrictions on an entire group simply because those people are seen as inferior by the powers that be. The film invites us to observe its characters, to hear their inner voices, to see what they see and to challenge our own preconceived notions about race and gender. This is a period piece that evokes the grand family epics of old Hollywood, most specifically George Stevens’ 1956 film “Giant.” Like George Stevens’ Oscar winner, “Mudbound” is based on a novel and concerns itself with two families living uneasily on the same land. Director Dee Rees masterfully executes her character study, filling the frame with visuals as big and powerful as the emotions she draws from her superb cast. This is melodrama of the highest order, which is a compliment, for melodrama is not a bad thing. It is part of some of the greatest works of art, and in the right hands, it can elicit an ennui-shattering response from the audience. We will follow two families, the Jacksons, who are Black, and the McAllans, who are White. 13. Welcome to El Matador News! El Matador products are varied, but they have one thing in common---each of them is designed to kill something that you want killed. Thanks to your purchases, in the past few days I have been working to replenish the supplies of your favorite El Matador products, Colloidal Silver, Boron Supplement and Mold Killer. This involves consulting the formulas and recipes, assembling and measuring ingredients, mixing, bottling, labeling, etc. Everything is done under clean conditions, using stainless steel containers and utensils, purified water in the case of Boron Supplement and distilled water in the case of Colloidal Silver. I use electronic scales calibrated in grams for weighing ingredients. Colloidal Silver is made using an electronic device that creates nano particles from silver electrodes that are 99.99% pure silver. Containers are brown glass bottles or high density polyurethane of the best quality. (By the way, I really appreciate it when you return your empty containers, because that helps to keep costs low.) Why does all of this go on? Well, basically because when I need to solve a problem for myself and realize that other people need to solve that same problem, I decide to share the things I make. The whole idea is to help make life better for people. Let’s look at some El Matador products: El Matador Boron Supplement. This could be called a miracle in a bottle. In many parts of the world there is either not much boron in the soil or it has been “farmed out” so that there is not enough boron in the foods people eat. Boron is an important “helper mineral” that helps the body use calcium efficiently. Boron can prevent, treat and, in some cases, even cure arthritis, osteoporosis and similar conditions. But boron also helps balance both male and female hormones. And, if that were not enough, it is an excellent and effective treatment for intestinal or vaginal Candida (fungal or yeast) infections. For a maintenance dose of 3 teaspoons per day (in beverages, water or food), one bottle will last two months for one person. Pets with arthritis can be treated with boron. For therapeutic doses, six teaspoons per day will last one month for one person. The cost of a bottle is $12.00. El Matador Colloidal Silver is the old standby. It does the job of antibiotics and also jobs antibiotics cannot do. It can kill over six hundred different microorganisms, including bacteria, viruses and fungi. Bacteria cannot develop resistance to Colloidal Silver, and it is effective against MRSA, C. dificile and other antibiotic-resistant bacteria. Colloidal Silver is used topically on cuts, scrapes and particularly burns. A burn quickly treated with colloidal silver (applied as a wet compress, using cloth, a gauze pad or a paper towel) usually does not develop blisters or a lot of soreness. Colloidal Silver is taken internally for a wide variety of problems, including colds, flu, histoplasmosis, mononucleosis, stomach cramps, candida infections, diarrhea and others. For respiratory infections, it is best used in a nebulizer. Nebulizers are available in David, typically for less than $40. Colloidal Silver is also very useful for treating topical or internal problems of large or small pets. El Matador Colloidal Silver is generally available in 4 ounce, 8 ounce and 32 ounce bottles with respective prices of $10, $15 and $45. El Matador Mold Killer. Mold can be a problem anywhere, but in Panama during the rainy season it can be particularly bothersome. El Matador Mold killer can kill and prevent mold on shoes, leather coats, leather caps, draperies, area rugs, backs and bottoms of furniture, picnic tables, varnished furniture, counter tops, etc. As odd as it may seem, Mold Killer can also be used to treat fungal skin infections, such as candida, ringworm and the like. El Matador Mold Killer comes in 16 ounce and 24 ounce bottles with prices of $7 and $10 respectively. Depending on spray bottle availability, sometimes only one size is available. El Matador PupFresh. This is a product to help keep your dog smelling good between baths. Dogs simply have a natural “doggy” odor. Baths help with that, but they should not be too frequent because they can dry the skin and cause problems with itching. A quick spray with PupFresh can make sitting with your couch companion an even more pleasant experience. El Matador PupFresh comes in a 24 ounce spray bottle that will last a very long time. The price is $8.00. El Matador Mold and Odor Removal. The newest offering from El Matador is not a product but a service. If you need to deal with mold, mold odors, food odors or cigarette odors, you can remove them by renting the El Matador commercial ozone generator. Ozone can reach into all the nooks and crannies of your closet or your entire home. It can also remove cigarette smoke odors from your car, truck or SUV in one to two hours. The device rents for $15 per 24 hours or fraction thereof. El Matador products first appeared more than seven years ago. Only one time, long ago, I had a table at the Tuesday Market. Since then, most advertising and all purchases have been by word of mouth. Sometime soon, I plan to have a table at the Tuesday Market because of all the people who have arrived over the years. I have no way of predicting demand at the market, but will try to have a good supply of the most popular products. I’ll gladly take orders for anything not available. If you would like to receive an email with information about El Matador products, their benefits and use, send an email to usn11958@gmail.com with the subject “El Matador.” Finally, El Matador products can’t do everything you may need. I recommend that you take the best possible care of your health. Recent developments indicate that drinking water enriched with molecular hydrogen and/or taking the form of carbon known as C60 in olive oil or coconut oil can be the best ways of treating and preventing oxidative stress in your brain and other tissues. Hydrogen is a tiny molecule that can pass through any barrier in the body and combine with harmful hydroxyl radicals to form harmless water. Look into these and other ways to maintain and improve your health. Thanks you for your attention. I hope to hear from you if you want information and to see you sometime soon at the Tuesday Market. Bob Gregory

  18. "The Handicap Foundation of Panama (Fundación Pro Integración de Panamá) was established with funds raised by the 20-30 Foundation Telethon in 1983, but the Boquete chapter was not formed until several years later when there was a serious need for financial support for handicapped children (primarily blind children) from low income families requiring medical attention. Members of the local 20-30 Foundation as well as individuals from both the medical and educational fields formed the Boquete chapter. Through the years, financial assistance has been extended to anyone of any age with a permanent disability from a low income family living in the District of Boquete. We are able to provide wheelchairs, crutches, walkers, hearing aids, transportation to medical appointments, physical therapy and special education classes as well as medicines not available through the social security or public health system. We enjoy a weekly social gathering for anyone in the community who is handicapped and would like to attend where we encourage involvement in different activities and offer a hot lunch before returning to their homes. We are able to operate as efficiently as we can from the hours of dedication of the most loving, caring volunteers in any organisation, and we receive our operating funds through fund-raising activities such as our Patio Sales, book sales at the Tuesday Morning Market, and raffles as well as the generosity of many faithful and caring donors. Our mission is to provide the best quality of life to our handicap members and their families as we are capable of doing. We appreciate your help. Thank you!"
