  1. John 13... Can you secure a copy of the “hall pass” from your gardener?
  2. This morning (Thursday) our Panamanian gardener appeared at our gate on time for work Bud told him no work now. Poor soul thought he had been fired! Bud spent several minutes explaining coronavirus and how Panama is in total quarantine. Bud paid him his full salary then asked him to return to work when quarantine is over. Our great gardener left with a better understanding of the current environment.
  3. Don’t know if this roadblock is happening, but if so that reinforces our suggesting residents of Panama have copy of a utility bill or insurance statement in their vehicle in case road is blocked by police. (Cedula does not show individual’s address in Panama.)
  4. Coronavirus is teaching me a lesson of how humans respond to grief, fear, and stress. Some humans play the “blame game” and accuse others of causing the problem. Some try humor to reduce their anxiety. The bottom line is that stress makes some people say and do stupid things. I’m allowing my friends lots of freedom to express their grief, fear, or stress in the method that works for them and makes them feel OK. This coronavirus situation will pass. We will be better and stronger. Now I know.
  5. Necessary business trip to David today (Friday) so decided to purchase a few things for us at PriceSmart plus shopped for two other families living in Boquete who don’t have transportation. Only Panamanians in PriceSmart (Bud & I were the only gringos that I saw). Everyone friendly (yes, I know a few Panamanians can be “crusty”, but most are polite and helpful). Everyone paid attention to keep your distance tape on the floor. Staff counted number of people in the store and wore mask and gloves. Door monitor was wearing mask and gloves; dispersing (required for entry) hand cleaner from a huge bottle, and alerting every shopper “no cash...credit card only for payment”. Of course some potential buyers left immediately. Overall it was a pleasant experience.
  6. Sorry this had to happen, but likely the right decision. Thanks...Good message, Phil. Marcelyn
  7. This important blood donor program sponsored by Boquete Health & Hospice is happening Saturday, March 7. WhatsApp 6590-2000 for information. 👍👍
  8. Thank you for this recycle schedule. Have not seen recent information in Boquete community publications about this organization and thought the recycle program was disolved.
  9. What a great project for the community ❤️❤️ Thanks ‼️‼️
  10. Sorry for your loss ❤️❤️ To you & Bill for the love & happiness you both gave to Flossy
  11. What a success story for you & Volcan! Best wishes for 2020 ❤️❤️❤️
  12. Thanks for good ideas! We’re taking food & TLC for two friends today who have flu like symptoms. Another friend waiting for bed availability to be admitted to David hospital. Let’s keep helping each other.
  13. Noticed a number of people (especially CL guests) reading medical resources for Chiriqui Province forum. Some of our friends are sick, one in David hospital. May be good idea to check on friends. Just saying.....
  14. Referring to foreigners here in Panama. Just remembering when I noticed natives gathering in a park, I quickly gave away all my belongings & got a flight out of Africa just before the riots in Kenya. (Other individuals didn’t make it). Meaning nothing except hoping folks are paying attention to what is occurring around them.
  15. Disturbances in Bolivia & Ecuador = one thing, but protests in neighboring Colombia may be a scary situation for foreign residents in Panama. Stay alert everyone.
  16. Saturday night after the BCP musical review program we drove the restaurant row route and noticed five vehicles parked in the yellow curb section. Sunday mid morning there were three cars parked there. (One grey pick-up is a “regular” that we’ve seen several times). None on Saturday or Sunday had tickets. Glad Big Tickets are appearing taped to windows because cars illegally parked here can be a scary drive home when car doors suddenly open or individuals casually step out of their vehicle without checking for on-coming traffic on crowded road.

This Soup Fest is another great Boquete community activity. We always discover new varieties of our favorite soups. Don’t miss this 😄😄
