  1. At approximately 1:30pm today (Monday) we were impressed when witnessing a speeding car being chased by Police. This happened near Cefati on the hill coming into Boquete. Other vehicles trying to make clear of the roadway.
  2. Afraid not, Penny. Better keep looking, I guess!!
  3. I am so sorry about your Sadie. Do you know what kind of serpent (snake)?
  4. Pictures taken at two St. Pat celebrations yesterday around town: Yella and Tom performing at Big Daddy’s, and a Rotary Club fundraiser at The Clubhouse at BCP. Much fun for all attendees at last night’s gala affairs. Yella and Tom at Big Daddy's Rotary Club Fundraiser at the Clubhouse:
  5. We enjoy Milano, an Italian restaurant near the school downtown. Yummy pizza, too. Good food and available parking. Speaking of parking, driving along the hill past all the Restaurant Row eateries is a scary sport. Vehicles located bumper to bumper, people trying to navigate back to their car after eating/drinking, plus pedestrians walking to and from town, cars semi-parked in the street, etc. Add the major road repair with equipment left here and there and poor street lighting. A nail biting experience! We usually travel on a side street in our journey home; but sometimes we get derailed and face this mess.
  6. This posting reminds me that years ago I was traveling in a foreign land and used the last of my favorite tooth paste which I had taken in my luggage. I was warned not to purchase any local brand because “can’t be sure about contents”.
  7. What is cost to owner for placing picture of their pet in the 2019 calendar?
  8. Where can I find plastic food wrap (like Saran); not the brand that sticks to itself where I need seven hands to get the material wrapped around and cover my food? Help!
  9. Yes. The wait staff told us last night that Oasis Restaurant is closing and their final day of employment will be April 1st. Possible some organization will take command of this wonderful location for.....?
  10. We had dinner with friends at Oasis Restaurant last night. This is one of our favorite places to eat.....always good food and great service. What a pleasant environment with the garden filled with colorful flowers and those happy but noisy frogs splashing in the stream. Will always have fond memories remembering our times here and sad that Oasis will close soon.
  11. When in Houston I get my hair cut at a certain Barber Shop. Always several male clients and only one female barber in this big shop. I get “funny looks” while sitting and waiting my turn, but Maria is worth it.
  12. Anyone have input about this facility? Opened several months ago but I’ve seen no information or heard comments. Seems like a needed element in Boquete. I believe the lady (Karina) who manages this nursing/healthcare home also manages a similar place in David.
  13. until

Hurrah!!!! Another Ole Timey Radio Show will happen April 21st. at BCP. I’m starting to jump up and down, clap, and laugh just remembering what fun we had at the last program. Get your ticket early (price only $7.00) and enjoy the great local entertainment.
  14. Great idea......Mongolian BBQ sounds delicious. Two good eatery ideas. Wonder what type food/restaurant anyone can suggest or like to see in this location?
  15. Not long ago an acquaintance (maybe I should call him a “real character”) came to visit us. He needed a haircut...did he ever! But he claimed he didn’t have time or the opportunity for this. Too many other activities like Jazz Festival, Tree Trek, food to try, practice his Spanish, etc. Then one day after his spending the day touring around the Boquete area, I noticed his hair was neatly trimmed. Where? was my question. Bert explained he had asked friendly Panamanians standing near Romero’s. They told about a favorite shop close to the Melo store and across the street from Dr. Gómez. Of course Bert had to try this place. Said it was the kind of business he liked to explore and make new friends. Called it educational and the right price. Later I discovered this is Lasso Barber Shop. Mr. Lasso is a gentle and very polite man. I think he has been part of the Boquete culture forever. Now Bert is continuing his world travel adventures in other places, making friends, and learning. He probably could need another haircut. Maybe tomorrow or perhaps next week or? What a great guy! That comment applies to both Bert and Sr Lasso. They are both winners.
  16. Gyro eatery appears closed and out of business. Vines along their fence are overgrown and no activity at this location for a long time. Deborah Gershon, owner of CHOX chocolates, next door to Gyro announced she is retiring and selling her business. Sad.
  17. Do you know “Olga’s”? This restaurant is open only for breakfast and is a favorite gathering place for groups as well as individuals. Each big food serving is accompanied with a flower from her garden. Customers get a smile and hug from Olga either upon arriving or before they exit after eating. Celebration today (Wednesday) because it is Olga’s birthday. Of course there was singing and a special birthday cake. A couple visiting the area from Holland requested a slice of cake, pulled their chairs to the birthday party table and shared a fun time with everyone in the place. Great experience! Say Happy Birthday to Olga when you stop for breakfast. Her restaurant is located just behind The Dollar Store. FELIZ CUMPLEAÑOS, OLGA!!!
  18. Yesterday afternoon (Tuesday, March 13) we were headed to David when Police suddenly appeared near the Federal Mall construction site and directed all traffic to turn around. No alternate route was indicated. No explanation given. Just a lot of hand waving for urgency to quickly leave the area. Some drivers tried to ask reason or new route, but no opportunity for conversation. We wondered if there was a protest in David. Maybe the traffic accident listed in the above article was the reason? No problem on the return to Boquete.
  19. Breakfast, chicken soup for lunch, and ribs for dinner all at Cafe Boquete. I’ll take my own Coca Cola, though. And I had better rework my Saturday schedule. Thanks for the added information, Siempre. P.S. Is it Saturday yet?
  20. I was told today that former Ambassador John Feeley now has employment with Univision.
