Start water rationing ! Feels like Summer early . That pool in our backyard holds 1700 gallons of water. Besides the 600 gal reserve...that pool provides showers, floor washing and toilet flushing when the tank goes dry, which happens rarely (but a few times each year). Meanwhile it's a great place to enjoy to view and catch some sun !

Ditto to all the above comments. We're edging in on 9 years. We never get tired of any of it. Sometimes when on the coast and the electricity is out for 13 hours and we are sweltering hot, we moan a bit...BUT the next breath we take is one of relief that we settled in Boquete !!!! ( sorry Catalina folks, just sayin)

Sunday is definitely the day to go!

Each time we make the trip we are astonished at what was done. Our trips are getting faster and faster.

Probably the most dangerous is trying to make a dash across the street and tripping into oncoming traffic.

Ning totally blew it when they showed this man the door without apology ( once they realized they shot themselves in both feet with an AK 47) . Don Ray is a very special person and I feel blessed to have him keeping an eye on us all on behalf of the US government as warden ....food critic...and just the good-guy he is in every regard. We need a "Don Ray Day" here !

This is an amazing service. My husband and I have been blessed to have been with Rodny since he first began. We used his service only once when a Panamanian/American neighbor came to our door after their home was invaded by pistol carrying young men. We called Rodny and he took over. In minutes police and ambulance were at the home...followed shortly by investigators. I have no doubt road blocks were put into place as the neighbor's car was stolen. Rodny stayed with us, to let us know what was happening and as well followed up afterwards to let us know how the case progressed. I can't say enough for what this man did for us. Read the book: Boquete: Rascos de su Historia by Milagros Sanchez Pinzon This is an historic account of all aspects of the early settlement of Boquete to include the railroad. The book is in Spanish. Although my language skills are marginal, I found the book captivating. I learned a lot of new words and wrote the definitions in the margins. I will be reading this book again and again. The history of the settlement of Boquete is a fastening story !!!!

Read the book: Emperors in the Jungle, author: Linsey-Polland The amount of chemical weapons tested here and left here by the American government is astounding. This book is an eye-opener !!!! The testing of these weapons here in the Rep of Panama by the US government was as well an eyeopener putting animals and people ( American soldiers from Puerto Rico) purposely in harms way. Makes me ashamed (.....very ashamed) of my country, the USA. I look at the great expanses of green space all around Panama City as well the islands offshore, and I always ponder what was left there by my government to rot under the overgrowth.

I fully feel the pain of those of us who began and helped to make Ning a place where "all things Boquete" could be known. There's a sense of loss I realize. As well a real anger for what we sense is a dismanteling of what was. I submitted a potential ad to Ning, and JLM told me that it might be too disruptive and denied my request to advertise there. OK I admit...it was a test. That said... I would have been willing to have placed that ad...paid in full for 4 months. JLM has every right to mind their site as they please. For me...I desire to support Bud..if the site here costs him...I'd love to contribute. I am over NING and desire to create here what we sense is lost.

Judy S Yes.....dropping Part B of Medicare is a huge mistake. The US govt hopes you do believe me ! When I hear folks retired here who say "If I paid for Part B out of my Soc Sec monthly I would not be able to buy food": To those folks I say....go back (or stay) in the USA. If your margin is $100 (+ or -) then you are too close on the margin. **** happens here. Plan on it happening.

Everyone needs to do their own homework. Unfortunately this was a resource of information on Ning that was hashed and re-hashed. IF you are over 65...you will be paying a considerable sum of $$ for full insurance coverage from a reputable provider. The MS Chiriqui plan is minimal. Many come here and drop their Medicare B to save $100 a month...that's crazy. This is a very serious topic...one each person who even thinks about moving here needs to fully research.

One big problem with used local automobiles is how they were used, and used, and used...without being maintained. Keith sells cars for foreigners who are selling them...at least quite a good % of the stock. I assume that's true of Cowboy. These expats selling their cars to these two guys are more likely to have maintained their vehicles.
