Driver License and Diabetes
JudyS replied to Bill Uhlman's topic in Legal Matters and Processes, Consumer Protection, Etc.
You will not be denied a driver's license because you have diabetes. Lots of people have diabetes and have licenses. They just want to see that your blood sugar is normal. But as Keith said, that is only if you are 70 or older. -
Beautiful video - hummers, butterflies, bats. Some of it could have been filmed in Boquete (violet saber wings and blue morphos). https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/xHkq1edcbk4?rel=0

My understanding on reading the website was Rodny Direct would cover Chiriqui, and PNHN would cover most of the rest of Panama. So if you're in Chiriqui, you call Rodny. If you are traveling in other parts of Panama, call PNHN. I'm glad my question made you investigate further. Some clarification is definitely needed.

I guess Sabor would say," Let them eat cake."

The Panama Help Line is $120/year. Is this in addition to the $80/year for Rodny Direct?

Panama doesn't seem to have the brands we're used to seeing in the U.S. I've never seen Excedrin. The aspirin they sell here tends to be 500 mg tablets instead of the 365 mg sold in the U.S., so if you take two, those are probably as strong as Excedrin. If you need a particular brand of something, better to buy it in the U.S. or have somebody bring it.

Boquete.ning; the long goodbye
JudyS replied to Gordon Bakke's topic in Idle Chatter / Personal Musings
It's sad for the new ning members that they have lost the accumulated knowledge of the old ning, unless they do an extensive search (but they don't seem to do that). Someone is trying to raise money for an ambulance again. This has been worked over since 2007. They don't know what they're in for. Others are asking how to do and find things that have been discussed over and over. I expect soon someone will ask how to take a pet into or out of Panama - again and again and again. And then there's the misinformation (DirecTV). -
Renewing driver's license

Did they ask you to make an appointment and come back? That happened to someone else. -
If you don't have a Spanish keyboard, it's troublesome to do the tilde n.

Well that's kinda gross.

I don't see any use for the glass top. Just another thing to clean. And if you forget to lift it up when you turn the gas on, there will be trouble.

Food Sniffing Security Dog at Airport
JudyS replied to Marcelyn's topic in Tourism, Outdoor activities, Recreation,
I was in the Aukland, NZ airport many years ago, and a security dog stopped by my carry on. I had no food, but had had an apple in there a month before. Can you believe that dog smelled that ghost apple? It was amazing. -
They can remove them, but they need a place to put them.

Well that is odd. It said the site was offline due to a software upgrade and would return shortly. Do you suppose you were hacked?

So much for happy happy! Ning tried to force the site to stay upbeat and always cheerful. Then Olga started introducing inflammatory political discussions and wondered where all the happy went. When you try to control people's emotions and passionate opinions, you will fail. They have failed utterly at that. Even the admins are now insulting people. You're right, the current ning crop is getting nasty, and ning still lacks the experience and knowledge of the banned and ex-contributors. It's too bad for the newcomers trying to find out useful information.

The message on my phone said CL was not available due to a software upgrade, so it appears it was an intentional disruption. I guess that's better than an unintended disruption.

I keep wondering why ning hasn't banned Cloudless. You really go over their happy edge sometimes (to my delight), yet you hold on. I think they really are clueless. They don't seem to know when their chain is being yanked.
