  1. Hooray, hooray! What a to-the-point message to ning. Ning is dying on the vine, and advertisers who continue there will be wasting their money.
  2. No one needs to make an effort toward ning's demise. The JLM management is doing a great job of it themselves.
  3. I'm a little late in finishing my web page for this clinic. Three of my six rescued puppies contracted parvo a few days ago. This is my first experience with puppies. Treating parvo has been (and is) a 24/7 job. I gave a report about it on my web page: http://spaypanama-chiriqui.org/88th.html Our next clinic, the final one for 2015, will be on November 22nd. The list is already half filled, so call (or email) right away if you need an appointment. Dottie at 6517-8752, or Jose (for Spanish) at 6891-0999. My heartfelt thanks to everyone who participates in our clinics: bringing animals to be sterilized, volunteering, contributing funds to help support the clinics, and contributing food and drinks for our doctor and volunteers. Much love to you all. Dottie
  4. Most vitamins, either for humans or animals, are synthetic crap. For ears, mix alcohol and apple cider vinegar (preferably raw organic) half and half and then use a syringe to squirt about 5 to 10 cc into each ear. Massage well. Repeat as necessary.
  5. PS. At a recent spay/neuter clinic I was pretty badly mauled by a cat. I did the Epsom salt soak, and then after that, I applied antibiotic cream on all the punctures, put on surgical glove for the night. I repeated the procedure the next night. The wounds got well with no problem. And punctures (instead of cuts) are more dangerous because they don't bleed and help to get rid of the toxins.
  6. Soak it several times a day in warm Epsom salts water. It will do wonders!
  7. Yeah, yeah JohnF13. You echoed some of my post and expanded on it. As for me, Latin America has always called to me. I've spent time in several countries in Central America and South America and I chose Panama. Panama is home. I'm originally from the US but I won't go there even for a visit. Who knows when Homeland Security (the Fatherland) will target someone and deny permission to leave, in addition to what they've already done with currency controls. You're originally from the UK. I'm originally from the US. For both of us: "been there, done that."
  8. I don't think that's quite true, Don Ray. I've quit my membership on ning. and then got another message that my "membership" is being approved. I declined--again. Dottie - http://spaypanama-chiriqui-org
  9. Amem to what Chica de Chiriqui said! One size does not fit all. According to Don Ray, one should rent for 60-10 months in the area you plan on living. This is generally good advice, but again, one size does not fit all. I moved to Volcan 11 years ago, bought within 3 months, and I've never regretted it. I should add, though, that I'd never advise anyone to live in an old Panamanian house house while it is being remodelled, like I did! (Oh, the horrors!) But before moving to Panama, after a two-week visit in the Volcan area, I immediately knew this was where I wanted to live the rest of my life. But for anyone who is noise sensitive, I'd advise checking out the potential purchase or rental property several times during the late night and early mornings--more than once--for traffic, barking dogs, roosters, etc. I didn't do that, but I lucked out! After all the hassles of remodeling/enlarging the old Panamanian house, I couldn't be happier with my house and my neighborhood. My neighbors are all Panamanian.
  10. SpayPanama-Chriqui is a low-cost spay/neuter clinic in Volcan. We have one veterinarian, our wonderful Dr. Andres Tello who comes from Costa Rica. (He is Panamanian but lives in Costa Rica.) We hold our clinics once a month in Volcán, except for December. Except for our veterinarian, neither I nor anyone else connected with the clinics receives any pay or financial benefit. I rent the building where we hold the clinics, and I buy all the anesthesia, medications, instruments, supplies, and equipment. I have no offices, no salaries, no advertising, no overhead. Every penny goes for the animals. This is a project from my heart, and I pay the deficits from my own pocket. Please donate if you can. Please visit http://spaypanama-chiriqui.org. See contact information there to call for an appointment. Our clinics fill up very fast. Dottie
  11. I don't know what could be in my system. I use Office 2000, so maybe that has an effect. I'm fairly computer savvy, but this stumps me.
  12. When you say "move to Word," do you mean open a Word document? I just selected the text in your message, right clicked, opened a new Word document, selected Paste. Same thing. This is really a mystery. See attached. Dottie.doc
  13. All I know how to do is select the text, then CTRL-C, then CTRL-V into a Word document. I don't think there's any option to "paste special.)
  14. Here's another "ning" response to my response that I did not terminate my membership. Remarks in red are mine. Ms.With all do (due?) respect, we try to be understanding to as many members as we can. Sadly, we failed with you. in defense, more than triple the amount of members terminated while under the previous owner. (Terminated under Lee's ownership? I find that hard to believe.) Our base is increasing everyday (every day...and really?) and we are very pleased in its new direction for the continuing increase in the base of membership, majority of readers really enjoy that we are free of the conflicting conversations that hurt many people. (Gobble-de-gook.)As Lee Zeltzer stated and we hold to his principal. " If you don't like how Boquete.Ning is managed, please close your account and move on. Your ''right to free speech'' is not part of the deal here. " It must be another Ms. Atwater who applied for membership to day, (today) Our apology and hope you find your voice with the other options you have in Boquete. (No, it wasn't another "Ms. Atwater." When my password/login didn't work, I re-applied with the same information. Then saw "membership pending approval." I clicked "cancel my application.") Whoever these new mysterious ning owners are, they've really shot themselves in the foot. And it seems that the writer has English as a second language.
  15. When someone answers a question (about a vendor, location, etc.) I'd like to copy and paste into a document for future reference. But when I do so, the text is in a dark gray background, almost unreadable. Can the management please fix this awful situation? Thanks.
  16. I'm finding this forum/blog or whatever difficult to navigate. Part of my response to Don Ray's message about where to buy tires is missing. Where is the rest of my response? Was it deleted by management, or what?
  17. Sorry, but I can't find a link to "Problems, Feedback and Suggestions." I looked through all the topics....
  18. I'm sure it's my fault and I just need some education about this forum. Sometimes I see all of my post, and other times I don't. I'm sure it's just where I'm looking. It's probably just when I click on my name that my posts show up, but only part of them, and I can't find a way to see the entire post. No big deal. I'm still learning about this forum. Thanks for creating it.
  19. I hadn't participated much on boquete.ning, and even less since the "new management." Today, though, I attempted to log in and post a message. Here was my response: Hello Ms. Atwater At your request we terminated your membership. ( if we are in Error, we are sorry) We would love to reinstate you, but not if are unhappy to be a part of Boquete Ning. We need community members to help us move forward and apologize that we cannot please all with our changes and direction which is different from Mr. Zeltzer's style of management. We do have good things coming and all we ask is for some patience. Please advise, Sincerely AmbreenAdminstrator ------------------------------No, I never requested to terminate my membership. I can only surmise that my membership was "terminated" because several days ago on ning I posted a generic dislike of the "new ning." (Don't remember what I said but I know it wasn't a nasty comment.) So, Ambreen, NO, I do not wish to reinstate my membership that I did not request to be terminated. With this kind of censorship now on ning, I'm predicting it will soon be extinct. By the way, in doing a search, "Ambreen" is an Islamic/Arab girl's name, probably Indian. Means sky or blue sky...one located has a background in web development, English as a second language.
  20. I've posted a couple of times today but I see only parts of my message when I click on them. I've clicked, clicked, clicked everywhere, but I can't find how to see my entire message. Maybe I'm being a dummy...please help. Thanks.
  21. Thank you for your recommendation, Don Ray. Now I'd like to ask you a question. You often post links to Chiriqui Chatter whenever you have the opportunity. But sometime back on your Chiriqui Chatter site, within a context of another post I mentioned http://forums.delphiforums.com/panamaexpats . Your response was something like, "Oh, boy, just what we need...another forum." (I can't find the specific post because there's no way to do a search on your site except under specific topics. And by the way, the Delphi "forum" is more of a blog than a forum.) My response is that the more all of us can learn about Panama in general, and Chiriqui specifically for those of us who live here or want to live here, the better. So far at http://forums.delphiforums.com/panamaexpats the information focuses on what is currently happening in Panama. The laws and political happenings definitely affect everyone who lives in Panama or wants to live in Panama, whether it be Chiriqui or any other part of Panama. There is no other forum/blog that I know of with that particular focus. All forums/blogs have their place. There are no advertisements on http://forums.delphiforums.com/panamaexpats and no one has anything to sell. Personally, I'm very glad to find another source of information like chiriqui.life. I notice that you have not criticized this forum/blog. I find it questionable that you'd criticize still another source of information, such as http://forums.delphiforums.com/panamaexpats (Moderators: if this response is not in the proper place in this blog/forum, I apologize and please move it.)
  22. I saw the URL for this forum on boquete.ning, but now as far as I can find, any reference to this forum has been deleted from ning. Too bad that ning has gone in that direction...anything that the new "mysterious owners" don't like is promptly removed. I wish much success for this new forum.
