  1. Bus Trip to Drua Embera Indian Village – January 23, 24, 25, 2018 This is an amazing tour. It is like being in the middle of a National Geographic magazine. One of the magical things about Panama is its diverse mix of cultures and lifestyles. A trip with us to the Embera Village will give you a glimpse, and some insight, of traditional tribal lifestyles in Panama. Professional English speaking guides take you on this unforgettable tour into the heart of the Panamanian rain forest. This is an all day trip so we leave early in the morning and get back before dark. We start on the Chagres river on traditional cayuco (dug-out canoe) to the Drua Embera Indian village. There you will be welcomed by the villagers who will give you an introduction to the culture, religion, art, language, food, and lifestyle of their people. You will be served a traditional lunch of Tilapia fish and fried plantains. Other presentations include an explanation of medicinal plants, a trail walk through the jungle, a musical dance and performance, and the chance to swim in a crystal clear river. www.easytravelpanama.net for more information on the Drua Indian Village. The itinerary is: Jan. 23, 2018 Tuesday – Leave Boquete 8am. Travel by tour bus to Panama City. Enjoy mimosa and a continental type breakfast on the way. We will stop along the way for short breaks. Lunch in Santiago (lunch and tips included). We arrive at Coral Suites Hotel to check in. Rooms are based on 2 people per room. Coral Suites has reserved 10 rooms with 1 King bed and 10 rooms with 2 double beds. Room availability is first come, first serve bases. Single occupancy an additional charge. Dinner at Pomodoro Italian Restaurant (dinner and tip included). Jan. 24, 2018 Wednesday – Breakfast at Coral Suites Hotel (included) before boarding the 8:00 am bus to the river. About a 2 hour drive. We board cayuco boats that will take us down the river to the Drua Village. We will spend the entire day at the village. At the village, woven baskets, carved tagua seeds, and cocobolo wood carvings are offered for sale at a lower price than at the stores in Panama. We will return to the Coral Suites Hotel late. This evening will be on your own as well as your dinner if you still have energy left. Jan. 25, 2018 Thursday – After breakfast at Coral Suites Hotel (included) we will board the bus and go visit Casco Viejo for a guided tour. If you wish you can walk and tour the city on your own. 3. Newslady note: Leianne and David Scee were traveling the world when they heard of the untimely death of the physical therapist at the Handicap Foundation. They immediately put all their plans on hold and flew back to Boquete. They stayed a year. They re-organized the therapy program, found and trained a new therapist, and took many of the physically disabled people under their wings. They raised money for and implemented many home improvement projects for folks with physical disabilities. Their contribution to our community is immeasurable. We can only hope that when they finally hang up their backpacks, they will return to Boquete for their real retirement. Dear Boquete, It is Christmas Day and what a better time to send a thank you to the wonderful community of Boquete! While this is the season of giving what we know is that the people of Boquete don't wait for holidays to give, it is year long. We came back to Boquete to lend a hand and because of those living here we had many hands to help give to those less fortunate. So many names that we cannot list them all here but we hope you know that this thank you goes to all those that took a moment out of their own lives to share their giving nature and generosity to bring happiness to others. We share with others about the community we lived in for almost a year and it is so hard to describe to them the heartfelt nature of a community who comes together in times of need. We have been to many places over the last few years and while there are other communities that do good works for others the sense of togetherness seems to be missing. Boquete will always hold a special place in our hearts and we wish all of you blessings on this day and in the upcoming year! We were blessed to be given the opportunity to reside in this fine community! Our Best To All of You, Dave & Leiann Scee

It was written and directed by Christian Carion. It was screened out of competition at the 2005 Cannes Film Festival. The film, which included one of the last appearances of Ian Richardson before his death, was nominated for Best Foreign Language Film at the 78th Academy Awards. It is a fictionalized account of an actual event that took place in December 1914 when Wilhelm, German Crown Prince, sent the lead singer of the Berlin Imperial Opera company on a solo visit to the front line. Singing by the tenor, Walter Kirchhoff, to the 120th and 124th Württemberg regiments led French soldiers in their trenches to stand up and applaud. Google: With the advent of World War I, Europe is thrown into a brutal and vicious chaos as men are forced to kill or be killed. While blood soaks the battlefield as Christmas approaches, the men in the trenches of the Western Front face a transformation, however fleeting, toward peace and goodwill. Against all odds, four unlikely individuals from opposing sides (Diane Kruger, Benno Fürmann, Guillaume Canet, Gary Lewis) bond during this bloodless respite to experience the hope and goodness in humanity. 16. Welcome to the newsletter of Boquete Health and Hospice Is this email not displaying correctly? View it in your browser. Looking Back on 2017 Early in 2017 the BHHF board met to define our vision and mission statement and goals for the year. Our vision and mission statement is: To inform and promote community health: and, to support people with needs by providing information, equipment and services. The goals were developed this year to reflect the expansion of our services to the Boquete and surrounding area. Our goal of providing health information to the community was addressed with a new and informative website, Being Prepared and Preventing Falls presentations, an informational video and the first Health Fair. This educational outreach increased the public awareness of our organization as well as provided vital health information. Our equipment loan program has grown. We now have an additional storage room for our equipment and now have room to store our 17 oxygen concentrators. At this time about 25% of our equipment is loaned out to Panamanians. We hope to expand our loan program even more to the Panamanian and expat community. Our home health care and hospice services continue to be an important part of our organization. We have expanded our respiratory support program. Numerous meals were delivered, home visitations made, rides given and home support care provided this past year. We continue to recruit volunteers to maintain our services and twenty-three individuals have signed up so far for the next training to take place in early 2018. BHHF was successful in expanding our programs and reaching out even more to the community. In return, we have received many generous donations which will enable us to continue growing and improving. Looking forward to 2018 the board will meet and create new goals for the coming year. Many thanks to our volunteers and to the community for supporting us. “A Gift for You!” Look for Boquete Health in 2018 at the BCP Tuesday Market. We have a gift for you!
