I guess what gets me is how naked it looks. No trees no gardens and no people. I found that strange and just assumes those had to e vacant homes -

Pet Friendly Hotels, Visiting Hooked on Panama

We will be spending several days at the Hooked on Panama hotel/resort because they will allow us the bring our dog Flossy. There will be a bit of surf so we will take this opportunity to explore the general area. Very nice folks the owners. If you want to fish and catch fish...this is your spot. Super nice cabins, pool , restaurant and fishing packages. They can also arrange 1/2 day surf excursions by boat. -
Yes.....so watch out I'm dangerous.

I located a study done at Berkley entitled "Living Lights". This critter apparently is reported to be luminescent. The part that glows is (get this) the head ! As well in that same study it has been reported to sting...like kill people, cattle. They are also called latern flies. All the information was n Ch 9 of the study. Some reports are of a fire-like luminescence like flames and other reports are of a glow that is bluish..purple. That THAT'S really weird.

Expat Healthcare Study Available for Free Download

The unfortunate element in this study as Bonnie has so well pointed out...is how misleading it can be. I think many of us know or have heard of folks who came down here (almost en-mass) solely on the basis of information they swallowed hook line and sinker from some person or organization touting Boquete and Panama as "the place" to live the good life...make a living, educate your kids and have affordable health care. Like anything else...it's buyer beware. -

JohnF13 For years this subject has been hashed over here locally by those living here. Lists have been prepared of facilities and physicians and as well hospice has given us all such great information. Don Ray keeps us posted on his experiences with expats here and health care issues. That's the stuff I value.....a lot. -
Wow Judy you ID'd it ! Good work !!! Meanwhile we have some casting resin . We will immortalize this creature and turn him into a paper weight.

We had the same issues for quite awhile. Neighbors in the Brisas community had the same issues. All of us kept calling and calling and they kept fixing and fixing. Modems were replaced. Filters were installed. Lines were replaced....and the beat went on. Then some serious line work got done and the problems stopped. It helped I do believe to keep records in a notebook and as well the receipts of service along with communication with neighbors. All things considered, there isn't a service that matches CO when it works well.

Interesting. I drove through there just a week or so ago and it looked like most were unoccupied. The price seems high to me..... -

So if they build um they come? Like Mystic Village..3/4 vacant. I am totally puzzled. There's an overstocked real estate market already. Potential real estate clients are reluctant to jump in and buy but would rather rent. Even current gated communities have had their stalls and slow downs. The condo by Cefati...how many owners has it had over nearly a decade and not one unit completed?. I personally know folks who lost 10's of thousands of dollars by investing before that condo was completed. On top of that wasted a lot of money with attorney's fees to get nothing back. So who would want to invest in yet another massive community ? -
Glad they are at least trying to find a solution. Certain intersections are mighty nasty. The overpass didn't do much for the Super Baru/Novey intersection..(.they need an underpass there ) On the one way streets....now that's another common confusion. Streets that are the seeming larger roads are sometimes the ones you might need to stop at an intersection on. Lack of stop signs in places, unmarked streets and bushes on corners increase chances of making a driving error. I feel so old ( ok ok I'm old ) when we find it necessary to park our car at Rey and take a cab to el centro because of the increased fear factor the closer you get to the ground zero of town. Those cabbies either have nerves of steel or are driving in a semi comatose comndition.

There ya go ! Thanks Bonnie. I think Bud and Marcelyn have done well to consider this particular issue...donations. A common nook for the charities that ask for donations is great. I have not doubt folks just don't go looking for it in the menu... So yup...it goes to Newslady. Charities need the CL alert to post again here in the Donations-Fundraising location here. (That was well said Bud and Marcelyn). Then all the requests will be in one spot along with answers to questions like...Where do we send our money? or Who are these folks...never heard of this charitable group ? Stuff like that.
