This news.boquete email was sent by the non-profit recycling group. They were incredibly sloppy with their wording. They wanted the newslady to send out a correction but it's the news.boquete policy to not allow "do-overs" and to encourage everybody to proof read their emails. I believe the group had found somebody near the CR border who would take the materials the local place won't take -- like colored glass and plastics. Their intention is to load up a trailer and take the stuff to the border.

I'm coming back to Boquete! - Judi Smith/Cell therapy
Penny replied to NewsLady's topic in "News.Boquete" Archives
There is free admission to Judi's talk. Last year when she was here, the theater was packed. She will be speaking on January 9. On January 7 we will have Jason Boss telling us all about cryptocurrency. -
We have a little system going getting computers donated and then having Buck Nunnaly fix them up. I then sell them and the money goes to the Handicap Foundation. If you have an older or a broken laptop (or desktop) that you would like to donate, email me at pjbarrett@aol.com I should have another computer available shortly. We're just waiting on a part. It will be a little more expensive -- maybe $125 or $130. They go fast so if you see one advertised that you like, email me directly.

Eighteen of us had lunch at the Clubhouse at BCP on Friday. Leslie went out of her way to make it a great event. First of all she gave every table unlimited chips and salsa for free. The menu items were delicious. Our group sampled 3 different kinds of wraps, the gigantic hamburger, the fries and the side salads. Then, Leslie gave us all a free home-made dessert. Even better, without asking, she took 25% pensionado discount off of everybody's bill -- the entire bill (including the drinks). All of this was above and beyond what was required or expected. I urge everyone to give this new restaurant a try. They're open every day from noon until ??? except Tuesdays and Wednesdays. At the Tuesday morning market they sell coffee and other drinks and sweets from behind the counter.

Another rescue of stupid people from Volcan Baru
Penny replied to NewsLady's topic in "News.Boquete" Archives
The newslady was called a very vulger name by a news.boquete subscriber for using the word "stupid" in the title. Were they stupid? And was it wrong to say so? Inquiring minds want to know. -
Replacement Battery for Tripplite
Penny replied to Whskyman's topic in Help Desk / Concierge Services (“I need ...”)
I just threw away my Trip-Lite because it started clicking intermittently and also causing the modem plugged into it to go on and off every 30 seconds or so. If you guys think it can be salvaged with a new battery I'll dig it out of the trash. -

It does a disservice to Tom and Yella to call them simply "free entertainment". Also, I learned today that the raffle prize (a bottle of Panama Red Panamonte rum) retails for $480 !! This party is well worth the $10 annual membership. Remember that it's still $10 if bought at this Tuesday market. After that it goes up to $15 but the party is still worth way more than $15. -
I've been having all kinds of problems with my Android box and, after spending hundreds of dollars on the darn thing, I'm ready to trash it. I'm looking for suggestions on replacing it. I don't have a smart TV and don't want to spend a lot of money getting it programed. Mostly I just watch the major networks through USTV Now. Thanks for any help you guys can give.

I have to nominate my water system for first place. It's the Jaramillo Arriba system and serves only the people on our hill -- between Avenida Buenos Aires and Alto Jaramillo. We are never out of water and the bill is less than $20 per year. The lady who runs it also runs the Delta gas station down town. I started boiling my water several years ago. It's not difficult to boil a tea keetle of water and pour it into the Brita picture.

For all you folks (like me) who don't do facebook, it wouldn't hurt to learn a little bit more about how to use it. Maybe we're missing something. Come to the Tuesday Talk tomorrow at 10:30 in the BCP theater and learn now only about Facebook, but Twitter and Instagram as well. It will be fun and we might just learn a little something.

My gardener is telling me that the "corta grama" quit working. Where can I take it to get it checked out? Thanks for any suggestions.

Just to be clear, if I hadn't felt the prices were a little on the high side I would not have pulled out my E-cedula for the discount. I probably ask for a discount fewer than 10% of the time I eat at a restaurant. I understand their lunch special is exceptional and very competitively priced. I actually eat lunch out more often than dinner so I'm happy about that. The Chinese steak house holds a special place in my heart. It's my favorite restaurant in David and I would probably pay anything for their rollos primavera (spring rolls) and their won ton soup. They also are very good with giving (even initiating) the discount.
