  3. He was advised by many "in the know" people to leave Panama before the trial but he was a stubborn man and chose to stay. A tough decision to make. Some have fled rather than face the Panamanian justice system.
  4. There was an accident in front of my house last Monday. Would anybody be surprised if I said it involved a taxi that was going way too fast and attempted to pass another car on the right? Of course 10 taxi drivers stopped to help and I'm sure most of them were solicited to be witnesses. Very lucky that nobody was hurt. There were a mom and baby passengers in the taxi and it's a miracle they didn't go through the windshield.
  5. The 3rd Boquete matriarch to pass away in a matter of months. Elba was a friend of both Inga Collins and Cecilia MacIntyre, both of them have passed away in the last six months. Elba was the subject of a Podcast created by Bud and Marcelyn which can be heard on this site.

It's obviously a cross between "humungous" and "tremendous". For having a PhD in English, you don't know many words.

  8. You're right. I'd forgotten about the Pianista. I love the calzones. I usually take half home. Once they gave me a large by mistake and it made at least 3 meals. Speaking of calzones, Papa Rico's has pretty good calzones. Not good pizza; but pretty good calzones.

  12. My vegetarian daughter is coming for a visit. She eats dairy products but no fish or meat. Looking for suggestions for restaurants that have a couple of vegetarian options on the menu. Thanks for all suggestions. I've heard the braised vegetables and polenta are excellent at the Oasis. Sadly, the Oasis Restaurant will probably close on March 21 unless Anayansi can find someone to take it over.
  13. I didn't see anything on the menu except rice for true vegetarians (no fish). Think I'll start a new topic asking for vegetarian suggestions in Boquete as my vegetarian daughter is coming for 8 days soon.

  20. Many of you know that we run a mail service at the Tuesday market at BCP. We sell US stamps and find volunteers to take the mail to the US and put it in a mail box every week. The person who bought us our last roll of 100 stamps in the U.S. apparently forgot to pack the stamps so we are desperate to get some stamps to sell to those folks who need to mail a letter. If you have any spare stamps, we can either buy them from you or replace them when we get another roll. It would be great if you could bring them to the table in front of the theater on Tuesday. Or, maybe you know someone who will be coming to Panama from the U.S. soon and who would be willing to bring us a roll of stamps. This is a very unique service that is offered only in Boquete and we need the community's support to keep it going. Thank you.
  21. I understand there is a new road replacing the old path and steps the locals would use to walk into Boquete. The road comes into the Boquete-David road near the bottom of the hill to Alto Boquete. What I don't know is where it comes into Volcancito. I want to drive it but, since it is steep in some places, I want to drive it from the top down. Who knows where in Volcancito I can access this road?
  22. This chair is too small for a large adult. Perfect for a child. A good project for someone. Reduced to $20
