JohnF13 Posted October 25, 2018 Posted October 25, 2018 You want to create less pollution, less garbage? BAN ONE USE DIAPERS. Cloth is just as easy to use and is environment friendly. I wonder how many plastic bags it takes to equal one diaper......And, just in case you think I don’t know what I am talking about, my daughter was raised on cloth diapers..... 1 1 Quote
Brandy Posted October 26, 2018 Posted October 26, 2018 "Cloth is just as easy to use and is environment friendly." On the other hand, washing diapers by beating them on the rocks in the rivers means that both urine and feces (and soap and perhaps bleach) are released into the rivers. And that is what happens when the indigenous mothers would be forced to do so because of their circumstances. Quote
JohnF13 Posted October 26, 2018 Posted October 26, 2018 Brandy, and EXACTLY where does the urine and poop (and the diaper) get to when they are just dumped down the ravine or abandoned at the side of the road? Single use diapers are one of the most polluting things around due to their volume. Quote
Keith Woolford Posted October 26, 2018 Posted October 26, 2018 Solely for financial reasons, I don't see any indigenous mothers using Pampers, not to mention that rivers and streams are often used as toilets by all ages. My daughter was also raised with cloth diapers, I personally believe that alternatives to anything 'disposable' should be discouraged. People have been using cloth for this purpose for thousands of years. A friend who regularly 'plalks' with others on the highway told me that diapers are a major trash item they pick up. The big paper companies are loving the upswing in volume. Forests, landfills, and roadsides are the biggest losers. Quote

Brundageba Posted August 29, 2019 Posted August 29, 2019 (edited) The several dozen cloth diapers I gave to the indigenous family turned into a request for a box of Pampers and handiwipes. The cloth ones? Never used. So what's wrong with washing cloth diapers?......probably a lack of running water and a water storage tank at their house and the distance to the river.
