  1. Chicken Wings are the craze everywhere, it seems.

A friend in Canada who is a partner in a chain of successful places told me that the demand for wings in North America is so high that in order to ensure a steady supply they need to import product from Brazil.

Buffalo Wings Factory is also a sports bar located directly behind El Fogon on Avenida 1ra, a one-way.

Someone took me there last week. The Chicken fingers were massive, tasty and plentiful.

Not sure if Lost Wings is still around.

People of Panama don't care and don't trust about that statistics.  It only shows homicides but what about the other crimes that, thanks God does not end in homicide.  We have recently bank robberies in Panama City.  Business robberies.  Car theft.   Assault or armed robberies to people in the streets.   Home breaks.   We think that they are only concentrating on Homicides but not giving more information on the other crimes.  We want a safe place for us to walk and the protection of our belongings.

We will keep criticizing the Minister and the government until this problem is solved.   I saw an interview on Channel 2 where the minister were asked about the issue of Minors committing violent crimes and he told the news reporter that they are working in changing the regulations and laws about that issue.   People want actions.   We will wait and see.

Roger, I think this is a good indication that pestering elected officials works.

I don't think many countries ever give aid except to further their own agenda. However self-serving aid is still aid. The fact that the US invests in keeping the canal safe is critically important to Panama. Ironically, the main threat to the canal is the fact that it is so important to the US..

Jim, I think you're a victim of popular misconception. the US gov gives hundreds of millions in aid to Panama every year

Here's an example of Panama shelling out $ to cleanup after the U.S. military.

    Where's the foreign aid there?

THE CLEAN UP  of the former U.S. Army weapons testing ground in Piña, Colón is going to cost Panama $1.1 million.

I'm not sure I believe this. It seems like I've read about more homicides than reported here.

And, even if it's true, tell it to Betsy and Marion. Cold comfort at best.

Bonnie, it should have read 'lowest point in 6 years'.

Officials are trying to tell us here that they're on the right track.

We can only hope they're right and that crime in general will be reduced, and these kinds of indicators will continue to improve.

Our friend Joe is one of the 39 victims in July, sadly the only month in which there was an actual increase from last year.

there are never solutions for all problems. But, before feeling sorry for the Panamanian gov remember there are over a hundred thousand Panamanian's in the US, the US gov gives hundreds of millions in aid to Panama every year. Question why Medicaid doesn't cover expats out of the US where care is much cheaper thus saving the US millions. Why do people have to be terminally ill to receive assisted suicide. Why is suicide illegal in the first place. The Panamanian gov has financial problems because Martinelli spent like a drunken sailor not because of expats receiving a very cheap level of care in regional hospitals. Would a solution be a good thing? Yes, so why don't the two govs initiate a health care treaty.

Jim, apart from funding to help fight the war on drugs, under which programs does the U.S. currently give hundreds of millions of dollars to Panama?

"In 2012, Panama joined Chile, South Korea, and Poland as countries that have successfully reached the point at which they can propel their own development without the need for significant U.S. assistance."

The story we heard was that the guy who is building the building went 6" onto the property next door. The neighbor wants him to tear down the building or give him a million dollars. The builder doesn't like either option.....we also heard that the new mayor said that if something isn't done, he will tear it down. Construction resumed for a while, but is stopped again....

From what I understand, there are several encroachments on private property and the public thoroughfare as well.

The structure was built without setbacks and right to, or over, property lines.

IMO, the only way to fix the situation is to demolish the thing but the owner, Sr.Garrido, isn't going to let that happen.

    So it will sit.

  8. Yes, I'm sure.

The fee in Dolega for Certificacion Larga has been increased to $50.

You will need to supply proof of residence in Boquete with an original factura for electric or water service.

If your electric or water bill is not in your personal name, you will need to get a verification of residence from the Corregedoria.

You will also have to take the vehicle to the DIJ in David to have the VIN and Engine number checked before re-registering the vehicle in the target Municipality, in this case Boquete.

If you want your Title and future Revisados to reflect the change of Municipality, you will need to have the Title replaced, after completing the above steps, at the ATTT office in Dolega.

Prior to going there, you'll need to stop at Banco Nacional in Boquete and make a deposit to their account for $20.

The phone number is if 776-0092 if you want to check yourself.

No es vale la pena, imo.

Keith, are you saying if my renewal is due in July, and I want to change the registration from Dolega to Boquete, I have to do it in July?  I went in July 2015 to do that.  I had all the paperwork, except I had not done the registration for that year yet (I wanted to do it in Boquete).  They told me I had to do the registration first, then come back to do the change.  So will I have to wait until next year, register again in Dolega, then go to the Boquete office to make the change for the following year?

Yes. It is because Dolega will have (or should have) ordered your Plate already. You could have moved it this year at the same time you paid the Registration, but you will now have to wait until next year. There is a $50 fee.
