If I am not mistaken this is some minor socialism at work. Those with means are paying a bit into a fund so that minimal users can be subsidized.

We live in the only coffee producing part of the country, which is pretty small. After servicing the domestic market, how much could there really be available for export?

Doesn't Phil McGuigan's program provide hot meals to these school kids?

There are 25 hectares burning somewhere up on Baru. Hard to see a lot of the volcano because of bajareque.

Perhaps a link is perceived between News Boquete and CL because the News Boquete reports are posted here. Just guessing ..other people's actions or decisions are often difficult to understand.
The new direction of .ning seems to be focused on providing information assembled in a more organized fashion. However, the info. is being provided by one individual only and any questioning of it's validity is discouraged.
It's unfortunate that years of accumulated knowledge is unused. It would have have been my goal to try to re-reference existing information bu that didn't happen y es lo que es.

I would never get involved on the BCP executive group or go to their meetings.
Personally, I don't see how someone who doesn't want anything to do with an organization feels entitled to be so vociferously critical of it.

Far more drama has surrounded the managing of BCP over the years than has been produced on the stage there.

There are most likely other issues 'at play' here which we're not aware of.
My point is that when we don't participate and leave the management of community organizations to others, we need to be prepared to accept their decisions.
Using terms like 'idiot, ignorant, and cowardly" probably isn't the best way to bring about change, either.

That politically correct person must be so ignorant that the Universal Adjective from Postcards completely escaped him/her. Why can one uptight person stop a production enjoyed, and to be enjoyed, by so many people? I notice that person is too cowardly to reveal his/her identity and say what the problem is, instead hiding behind a spokesperson. Whoever you are, you ought to be ashamed of yourself, you great dictator of things that are proper.
All of these things are easy to change by joining the BCP executive or turning out to their meetings.
I don't but then again, I'm not bitching, either.

I very seldom comment on Newsroom Panama but today I complained to the editor about the photo which accompanied this article. It's insensitive and counter productive to tourism in Panama to anyone who recognizes the subjects, the young women from Holland who perished here.

..and it probably won't be long before International Living starts promoting the island as the world's most secure place to retire.

Whether an outage takes an hour or a day to restore depends on the severity of the problem and during the windy season there may be multiple issues to deal with simultaneously. People still drive into poles on clear windless days.
Do you call the outages in yourself or wait for someone else to do so?
After ten years of living in Costa Rica, I know what poor infrastructure and poor service is all about. Here it's far superior, not perfect, but constantly improving. In North America, where most of us came from, it was good but is steadily deteriorating.
Folks were also complaining in town today about lack of Cableonda service on Superbowl day.

Anyone else notice there are some pretty high winds out there?
Trees and lines get blown down causing interruptions to service.
Hardly the suppliers fault, they do respond quickly.

CUBAN MIGRANTS stranded in Panama will soon be heading to Mexico following a deal between Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto and Panama President Juan Carlos Varela.
The agreement was reached during the Fourth Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), held in January in Ecuador.
Panama’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement that Cuban migrants who arrive irregularly in the country are victims of trafficking, with riskier routes and high cost so, Mexico has granted Panama an ” exceptional and limited way “solution, which will, in the coming days expedite, orderly and safe direct transfer.
“Mexico and Panama remain committed to continue working with countries in the region to comprehensively address the issue of migration, seeking joint solutions,” said the release..
Cubans began their journey with a flight to Ecuador, which until last December did not require a visa, and from there began their migratory journey to the United States through Colombia , Central America and Mexico, but last November Nicaragua shut the border, leading to a build up of migrants in Costa Rica and Panama.
The Ministry of Health (MoH) is processing health certificates for 600 Cubans to allow them to travel to Mexico.
The regional director of the MoH, Augustine Saldana said the more than 1,000 Cubans are in the gym at the Paso Canoa border and rigorous examinations were performed in order to give the certification.

Nissan X-Trails are not sold in the U.S. under the name Xterra. They are two different vehicles entirely.
X-Trails are built for a global market and are sold in Europe, Australasia, Canada, and Latin America, whereas Xterras were built in the U.S. specifically for the U.S. market.
Internet auto parts sites ask for the vehicle VIN in order to confirm the model.
Depending on what's required, most parts are readily available here.

Look for a generic boot if necessary.
The part is simply a flexible rubber cover which provides protection and retains lubrication for a universal joint

Using the "All Activity" button works for me.
Normally, I just blow by the Newslady posts because I've already seen them in email.
btw, I still find that the manner in which the Newslady's posts appear in the summary gives the impression that she is the individual or business promoting one thing or another.
eg:
Why Putting Self-care First Makes a Lot of Sense
NewsLady posted a topic in News Boquete
Hello Dear Boquete Community, Why putting self-care first makes a lot of sense especially when you feel overwhelmed Setting time aside for self-care on a daily basis is a good habit... -
Since it's not very Canadian to promote one team or another in the U.S. Elections, we offer this alternative.

What we feel apparently also depends on the depth of the activity. We have had shallow tremors in the 3.0 to 4.0 range that feel much stronger than a deep 5.0 event.
My friend Brian in Potrerillos says that according to his equipment, the first quake was a 2.
