  7. The owners/administrators of the Chiriqui.Life (CL) website are very pleased to announce the release of another audio podcast in the series that is called "Chiriqui.Life Podcasts". These podcasts are produced by Marcelyn Jandreau and Bud Huber, and basically are conversations with the "movers and shakers" in the Chiriqui highlands area. (Note: "Chiriqui.Life Podcasts" is a different series from the "Chiriqui.Life Stories" audio podcasts that are produced by Michael Schwartz and also published on CL.) This podcast is the second "segment" of an earlier podcast about Elba Landau. She is joined in this English language podcast with her long time friend, Maria Boyd, in case of language issues. The first segment of Elba's podcast was released on August 14th, and covered the period from 1905 to 1915. This second segment covers the period from 1915 to more contemporary times. Podcasts are premium content on CL, which means that you need to be a registered member of and logged into CL in order to listen to this podcast. Membership on CL is free, so if you are not already a member, then register and listen to Elba share her recollections. In particular, note that this second segment has been added to the original (first segment) topic about her podcast, and so the URL link remains the same. If you wish to listen to this new release, then scroll down to the reply that is dated September 6th, and you will then be able to access this second segment. If you are NOT already a registered member of CL, then first access CL at Chiriqui.Life and click on the "Sign Up" icon at the upper right area. Then wait for your registration to be finalized (you will get an email to that effect). If you already are a registered member of CL, then and only then may you access this podcast at: http://www.chiriqui.life/topic/6885-chiriquilife-podcast-12-an-interview-with-elba-landau-and-her-recollections-of-the-early-history-of-boquete/ Marcelyn Jandreau and Bud Huber Owners/Administrators of Chiriqui.Life -- support@chiriqui.life www.chiriqui.life Virus-free. www.avg.com

  9. To the Entire Boquete Community On behalf of the BCP Council we want to thank Joy Alexander for her enthusiasm in running the Fenix Café. While we are sad to see her leave, we are confident she will be successful in whatever she does in the future. Currently the Council is entertaining several creative proposals for the development of the Hex room space as well as proposed usage of the Theatre, lobby, patio and parking areas. We encourage anyone with a viable concept or project to quickly send a proposal for inclusion in our on-going discussions about how best to transform this great space. BCP is the heart of the community with the Tuesday Vendors Market and Tuesday Talks – a great place to meet, greet and eat! That will continue as we add new vendors all the time as will our outstanding speaker series at 10:30 in the theatre. We are looking for ideas that will build on the success we have and even evolve further. From renting the Hex room to hosting parties on the lawn; fun and games in the lobby, a barbecue in the parking lot, a wedding/fashion show in the theatre – there’s a myriad of possibilities to explore in creating the BCP Community Events Center of the future. We look forward to hearing from you. Phillip Bennett, BCP Council President

  11. U.S. Embassy in Panama Message for U.S. Citizens: Conjunctivitis Precautions September 5, 2017 Conjunctivitis Precautions: In the past couple of weeks the incidences of conjunctivitis in Panama have been growing rapidly and conjunctivitis is now considered an epidemic by the Panama Ministry of Health. There have been more than 25,000 cases reported nationally and more than 6,300 in the city of Panama alone. Conjunctivitis affects the eyes and is caused by a virus-like microorganism called Enterovirus. Practicing good hygiene is the best way to avoid conjunctivitis and control its spread: Here are a few pointers to protect yourself and control the spread of conjunctivitis. · Don’t touch your eyes with your hands. · Wash your hands thoroughly and frequently. · Change your towel and washcloth daily, and don’t share your towel with others. · Avoid the use of eye cosmetics, particularly mascara. · Don’t use another person’s eye cosmetics or personal eye-care items. · Follow your eye doctor’s instructions on proper contact lens care. You can soothe the discomfort of conjunctivitis by applying cold compresses to your affected eye or eyes. To make a compress, soak a clean cloth in cold (iced) water and wring it out before applying it gently to your closed eyelids. Also it is important to avoid crowded places where conjunctivitis may be spread. Finally, always consult your physician before beginning any treatment.
  12. I first came across the ragdoll breed when I lived in San Diego. Ragdolls are perfect for people that prefer having an indoor companion and are extremely loving and follow you everywhere like a little lapdog. I purchased the breeding pair from a reputable cattery in Vancouver: http://www.izzadorableragdolls.com/index.html. They love to cuddle and sleep with you and will bring so much joy and laughter to your home. I started breeding them in San Diego after rescuing two female cats that were pregnant and experiencing the pleasure of sharing the kittens with my friends and neighbors. I didn't think I was going to breed them in Panama but after our oldest ragdoll passed away I was missing him so much so started to look for another one. Ragdolls are my favorite breed and there aren't any breeders in Panama so I decided to be the first one. If you are interested in knowing more about this breed please let me know. Thank you, Nevia neviamayers@me.com Dad is a cream mitted: Mom is a lilac mitted:
