And Now I Know - Ladies Day for Shopping or No?

Silly me !!  I donned my mask and gloves to go shopping today (Monday, April 20) because I thought this was the assigned day for females to be away from their residence. Reckon not!

I observed more males (in stores shopping, driving taxi, selling produce from back of their pick-up, walking along the street with shopping bag, numerous male vehicle drivers, etc.) than females during my quick trip downtown to buy groceries.

Seems fines, taking away drivers license and car for 90 days, etc., is not a deterrent toward stopping people from doing what they want to do. Paying $100,000 penalty for holding a catered wedding or scheduling a birthday party during quarantine is 0.K.? I observed people walking their dog during last weekend shutdown days.

Perhaps stiffer penalties are needed. Maybe these vehicles held for 90 days could then be sold at public auction or place offenders in stocks in the park.

What’s the answer?

Doesn't seem so.  The government needs to prevent general civil disobedience by relaxing some of the measures.  Adding Saturdays to quarantine time might just be the final straw for some.

It was my hunch that we'd be having a tough time keeping folks doing the deal after a month.   Well...I sort of assume everything is plastered with COVID.   I scoot in and scoot out (mask well applied.)  Looks like for us here in Alto Boquete the fat lady is just starting to sing, (more cases).    Bill makes me a grocery list  where the items we need are arranged.  It's totally cool as he knows where everything is.....he makes me a flight plan.  I have to resist my "natural browsing instinct".  Helps.  I think those of us in the upper age group will have to be doing this for some time to come.  Upside is I don't have to worry about wearing lipstick anymore or getting that face lift.

I think when you see the men out on ladies day (and vice-versa) you are forgetting all the people who have passes. For example, all agricultural workers, bank workers, grocery store workers, pharmacy workers, gas station workers, medical personnel, etc, etc. In general I would say that this draconian lockdown is working. And I agree with Allison that there's going to be a lot of general unrest if things aren't loosened up by May 1.

The longer lines at some markets keep people near each other and out of their homes for longer times. Isn't that what is supposed to be limited?

Last Tuesday (April 21st) Bud arrived at GAGO approximately 11:15 am to buy groceries. Couldn’t get into store parking area because three rows of vehicles completely filled the lot. He could not even get off the roadway to wait for space. Since seniors of 60 plus years have one time slot of 11AM to 1PM, what are they supposed to do?

What is wrong with this scheduling picture? Wait, I know.....all these customers had a “permit” !! So my question is: How do I get my permit to do what I want to do?

Ideas requested.

I went to Gago yesterday, same type of lineup thing.  I don’t need anything so much that I’m willing to wait 30-40 mins in a lineup.  Got what I needed at Dorado Plaza.

Seniors (who have more health problems, bad backs, hips, knees, etc) can't stand and wait 30-40 minutes. There has to be a better way. Do decisions makers read CL?

MY IDEA???? Drive right on by.  I don't even blink.  It's an " I just don't buy it today moment"...then I go home and take a vitamin pill.  (yup)

Alison

Time saver...no shopping no cooking...just swallow.   Take a nap...

I went to Gago yesterday, and a young woman took my temperature before I went in! ( Well, I think she did, she was having a bit of trouble making it work!)

Perhaps a better question would be: Do decision makers read?

I’m seeing empty grocery shelves. Wondering if food delivery to Boquete is becoming a problem, or maybe limited number of stocking employees.
