You’re in for a special treat at the BJBF2016 garden party at the Panamonte hotel on Friday, Feb. 27: In cooperation and with support from the Italian embassy in Panama we were able to book the Luca Ciarla Quartet for a show at the garden party! Check them out at their website www.violipiano.it/quartet
With their unusual instrumentation of violin, accordion and double bass they are creating a unique music experience! We are very happy to present this band at the Boquete Jazz&Blues Festival
6:39 am. This one rattled the pots and pans in the cabinet. Actually very close the way the crow flys, 47km or 29mi. Just on the other side of Volcan Baru. The map shows it very close to Rio Sereno. Some say 4.8 and some 5.0. What's the difference? Hint------2.

I was in a taxi in Panama City trying to talk to the driver. I had only lived in Panama a few months at the time and the driver spoke as much English as I spoke Spanish. Not much, but some. I tried to tell him that the drivers in Panama City were crazy and that I was afraid to drive my own car. I told him:"Tengo mierda."
He slapped his leg and laughed. "Shiit," he said. "Shiiiiiiiiiiit!"
Mierda means shiit. Miedo means afraid.
I have lots of other stories of how not to speak Spani

A Gringo by Any Other Name
A day doesn't go by that I don't read, hear or use the word gringo.
I refer to myself as a gringa when talking to Panamanians. When describing a meeting she attended, my friend said it consisted of half Panamanians and half gringos. As I walked past two little Noble Bugle children, they giggled, pointed at me and chimed: “Hola gringa.” When I lived in a rental house in Volcanic, I heard
Our Heads in the Clouds
Several years ago, I was explaining to a friend that we had bought property in Alto Jaramillo and that it was in the rain forest.
"Nope," she said. "It is in the cloud forest."
"What's the difference?"
"Uhm, I don't know, but Boquete is cloud forest. The lowlands are rain forest."
So I looked it up. Do you know what turns out to be the big di
The manager of Hotel La Morenita (at the border) is not taking any guest for as long as it takes for The Government Of Panama to move the Cubans from the border. She said she didn't know when that would take place.
She has 56 Cubans staying in her 14 rooms. Four per room. She actually didn't have much say in the Panamanian Government taking the place over. I talked with an official there today and he told me there are 1200 Cubans in Panama between Darien and the Frontera. They h

New Year's Resolutions
I keep a journal and recently I went back and looked at my New Year's entries. I always make New Year's resolutions and like most people, I don't keep them. A 2002 study showed that only 46% of people who make new year's resolutions are still actively working on them six months later. I am consistently in the 54%.
I always resolve t
Boca Chica Restaurante in David. It is mostly seafood and has a steak menu. In David, I rate it 8 out of ten. Seafood was fresh, A/C dining room (small) or other seating out front. Good service and not long waits. We had the Mariscada De La Casa (seafood platter). More than enough for two. Everything is under $15. The fried Calamara appetizer was good also.

Boquete Art Cafe
Again, I don't follow politics too much but I did follow this man. He sold out his country and the poor people with help of his accomplices. A great day for Panama. Innocent? Don't think so. As of 4am none of the major news outlets in the USA have covered this; ABC,NBC,FOX,CBS,MSNBC.
I wonder why?

I normally don't do politics but this is insane. I'm not looking for a debate so I have locked comments.
The Clown Show (GOP Debate) was the same again. The GOP is seriously destroying itself. I have crossed over to vote before but that was when gentlemen and true politicians worked together. I've never seen this madness. The finger needs to be pointed toward themselves (GOP) and the party in general.
