Pat
Just read on another forum that ARF is “rebranding to another name”.Reasons given for the name change is “increasing visibility” and “grow volunteer base”. Wonder what this is all about?
KrisDogMom
We are striving to become more involved with the local community. Like we said in our announcement this will help us better connect with the Panamanian community and present ourselves with a name that is both recognizable and identifiable. We are attempting to operate more efficiently and hopefully be more visible. Of course the animals are now and will always be our highest priority.

Palo Alto Jo
I had a rather fun discussion with an Hispanic friend from the U.S. recently. He told me that Pio Pio is the "sound" that a chicken makes, not "peep peep" or "cluck cluck". We went through lots of animals getting the translation for "moo", "meow", "baaa". I don't remember the translation for "arf", but I'm pretty sure it's also very different. Arf is no doubt meaningless in Spanish. Good move to get a name that has more wide-spread appeal.
