JimAndNena
Great!!! One more reason not to learn Spanish. Maybe part of the broadcast could include some Spanish lessons? Perhaps the locals will listen and improve their English? jim
Penny
Another good example of "No good deed goes unpunished" Why do people with Panamanian partners look down their nose at people who can't learn Spanish via the pillow talk routine? Why do people with Panamanian partners look down their nose at people who don't have extended local families to help them integrate into the local culture? The people who are doing this radio program are volunteers doing it for no personal reward. You guys ought to be ashamed of yourselves. JudyS
Well said Penny. I think expats who came here without family and a built-in support system, especially single women who came here on their own, are very brave for doing that. They don't need to be criticized for not learning Spanish fast enough. It is a struggle to learn Spanish, especially when you don't have a Spanish-speaking partner and local family who can help you practice, or to be there to translate for you when you just can't understand something said. There are lots of Spanish radio stations in the U.S., so what's wrong with having an English one in Boquete? Everybody needs some help sometimes. Penny
Probably the easiest way for those of us who no longer own radios to listen to the new English language program on Friday is on CableOnda channel 861 which is the Radio Chiriqui channel.
