Judy, here are the instructions about how to set up your own activity stream:

It works. It took a few minutes, but now I don't have to see repeats of posts I get by email from News Boquete, BCP, etc. I found it to be less time-consuming than posting to complain all the time.

Thanks Bonnie for the link to the Q&A topic on activity stream configuration options.

It looks like I would have to exclude whole forum categories.  I don't want to do that, just exclude that annoying Martinelli topic.  Oh well.  I guess I'll live with it and just hope he eventually disappears.

    JudyS:

Sorry that CL can't meet your very specific display preferences to a tee. Most people come into CL via the activity stream (of some variety), and they find it very easy to skip over or bypass the postings that are not of interest to them. View what you are interested in, and then mark the site as "read", and those ignored postings are forever bypassed in the future (unless and until there is an additional reply in that topic).

  2. This is the sixth in a series of audio podcasts by Michael Schwartz -- Chiriqui Life Stories. The subject of this podcast is Mike and Heidi Rehm, the owners of the Mike's Global Grill in Boquete. They tell their stories of their early years and then their initial professional careers before they met and worked in Alaska, again independently but in close proximity to each other. Then they both started working on assignment at the South Pole Station in Antarctica. That is where they met, got engaged, and later returned to the US and got married. Mike and Heidi ultimately end up in Boquete and buying what used to be called Tammy's Restaurant. This is indeed an interesting and certainly unique story that few people can envision.

To listen to the Mike and Heidi podcast, click below on the white, right-pointing triangle (arrow) on top of an orange circular background. If you see two options below, we recommend using the "Listen in browser" option as opposed to the "Play on SoundCloud" option.

This podcast is 32m30s in duration.

If you would like to provide feedback to Mike about this podcast, or discuss other matters related to this podcast series, please either reply to this posting, or send Mike a private message (@OldMikeNY is his display name here on CL), or email to mikeseeemail@gmail.com.

  3. This is the fifth in a series of audio podcasts by Michael Schwartz -- Chiriqui Life Stories. The subject of this podcast is Inga Collins, the owner of the Hotel Panamonte. Inga was born of Swedish parents in Panama City, educated in both Panama and the US. Her parents insisted that she learn her native Swedish language, and so she and her sister spent many of their childhood years on an island off the coast of Sweden, learning the culture, the language, the history, and the work ethics of the Swedish people. In the 1940s, Inga's parents purchased what is known today as the Hotel Panamonte, and upon their passing, Inga and her husband took over operations of that landmark hotel, along with their fishing business.

To listen to Inga's podcast, click below on the white, right-pointing triangle (arrow) on top of an orange circular background. If you see two options below, we recommend using the "Listen in browser" option as opposed to the "Play on SoundCloud" option.

This podcast is 36m10s in duration.

Huh...didn't realize this was only an issue for me. That being the case, I will try to make it a point not to read any more posts from anonymous sources.

    Fair enough?

FYI, there is an ability to selectively view only the [new] content on CL that a member wishes to see. In a nutshell, the "activity stream" functionality of this website is configurable by each member to their own needs and desires. Here is a link to more information on creating your own custom activity stream (or streams):

Their business name is Casa Decor Boquete. Their name here on CL is @Casa Decor Boquete.

We have no first hand experience with that business or the owners, but two friends had positive things to say about them. One comment was that she seems to have good "design sense" (their phrase). I have no design/decorator brain cells, so don't ask me what that phrase means.

Hope this helps a bit, although I think you are more interested in their successes at selling things.

This is a piece of technical support information:

The reason for Bud having provided Casa Decor Boquete's name on CL as a hotlink "reference" (i.e., the blue highlighting with the "@" prefix) is so that you can click on that hotlink. That takes you to the indicated profile, and that can lead you to gaining access to all of their contact information and hours of operation, etc.

Simply click on the blue hotlink, then select any of their postings. If you scroll to the bottom of any of their postings you will find their signature block. It has all of the pertinent information about how to contact them, etc. [Note that signature blocks display only when a member has entered such information in their profile (as this member has done), and only to registered members while they are logged into CL; guests cannot see signature blocks.]

P.S., if you wish to use a "reference" in your postings, first be sure that your cursor is after a space character, then simply type an asterisk ('@') and immediately start typing the desired display name (no spaces between the asterisk and the first character of a display name), and the software will start providing you options as you add more characters. Select the desired display name, and you have a "reference" hotlink inserted into your text.

  6. Note that the posting by @Jim Bondoux has been merged into this topic as a kind of update to the original posting. Readers should consider all of the postings in this thread, especially including this most recent update, prior to taking any action to import a pet into Panama.

Change in Pet Import Paperwork Requirements

Formerly, the small animal export/import process between USA and Panama required a US Dept. of Agriculture (USDA) validation of a special form filled-in by an accredited US veterinarian. As of August 2016, the USDA has discontinued validating of the form, known as APHIS7001. Instead, a new form negotiated directly with Panamanian authorities is used.

For some reason I'm unable to quote from OldMikeNY's post.

    ...

Dottie, you can quote from as many different replies as you wish in a single posting that you create. Here is the procedure:

    1. With the first post that you want to quote, simply click on the "Quote" link in the bottom left of that posting. That starts a reply and automatically adds the entire reply as a quote.
    2. Then type whatever you want to say in response to that quoted text.
    3. Start a new paragraph (this is important), and then scroll up and click the Quote link in the next reply that you wish to include.
    4. Then type whatever you want to say in response to that quoted text.
    5. Then repeat steps 3 and 4 to your heart's content.

    Hope this helps.
