The BCP Foundation wants to see the film series continue, and we will keep the community updated on the coming changes. Upcoming films: (There will be no Science Fiction Friday film this month) Monday, September 25 - Muriel's Wedding (Australia - 1994) ---------------------------------- Monday, September 18 @ 1:00pm - The Last Picture Show (USA - 1071) Length: 1hr, 58 minutes Ratings: 8.1 - IMDB, 100% (Rotten Tomatoes), 4/4 RogerEbert.com (Rated R rating for sex and nudity) From Entertainment Weekly: Peter Bogdanovich’s breakthrough film, The Last Picture Show, feels as tragic and aching (and racy) today as it did when it was released 46 years ago. Based on Larry McMurtry’s coming-of-age novel about the quiet, desperate lives in one small, speck-on-the-map Texas town in 1951, it’s a cinematic farewell to a more innocent time in America — a time when the local movie theater and pool hall were about to give way to a colder and more unforgiving way of life, a time when the young still had high hopes even as their elders were realizing that their own hopes had been dashed. The film, which earned eight Oscar nominations, features an ensemble of star-making performances from Jeff Bridges, Timothy Bottoms, Cybill Shepherd, Ellen Burstyn, and Cloris Leachman, all of whom shared their memories about making a timeless classic. (Here is a LINK to the entire April, 2017 article, and it is probably the most fascinating story I've ever read about the director, cast, and the filming of a movie.) Link to trailer

  9. What a great day for a special announcement! After much anticipation we are proud to say that this week we will be making Chicken Pot Pies, Hot Italian Sausage, as well as Chicken and Apple Breakfast Sausage. Be sure to click the link below to check out our menu and reserve yours today. Our Chicken Pot Pie has been a Boquete favorite since the very beginning and with the recent modifications it is now even better than before. We hand make our buttery flakey crust (that covers the top and bottom of this pie) and fill it with carrots, celery, peas, and chicken. Finally we coat the mixture with our chicken pot pie gravy. We are only making a limited amount of the pot pies and most of the have been preordered already so be sure to get yours today. There are no limit restrictions on how many you can get so be sure to stock up. Once we sell out we will not have them for a while. The Chicken and Apple Sausage showed up on our menu because we were getting request for a "pork-less" sausage. This was our answer to that. This breakfast sausage is completely "pork-less". We use caramelized onions, brown sugar, sage, salt, pepper, red pepper flakes, and granny smith apples that's combined with chicken thighs and chicken breast. The end result is a sausage that has great texture, great flavor, super juicy, and a wonderful alternative to traditional breakfast sausage. Each portion comes in 1# units. This week in addition to the Chicken Pot Pies we made a wonderful Roasted Vegetable Fritter that's about the size of a hamburger patty. This fritter is absolutely stunning as it has roasted carrots, roasted cauliflower, roasted broccoli, cheddar cheese, nutritional yeast, and a few other tasty ingredients. This vegetarian dish comes with 2 patties and pairs well with a side salad. Simply bake and enjoy. Finally we have added a Vegan Spicy Thai Curry with Brazilian Spinach and Chickpeas to the menu this week. This Vegan Curry is out of control if you like a taste of the exotic. It's spicy, flavorful, and completely amazing. This dish stands alone or you can easily add some chicken or beef to it. Click the link below to see our entire menu and if you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask. http://doshombrespanama.com/our-menu/ If you would like to get on our weekly mailer please click this link and fill out the information Join Our Distribution List By Clicking Here Have a spectacular day Eric, Cecelia, Chandler, Keira, Aidan

These podcasts are produced by Marcelyn Jandreau and Bud Huber, and basically are conversations with the "movers and shakers" in the Chiriqui highlands area. (Note: "Chiriqui.Life Podcasts" is a different series from the "Chiriqui.Life Stories" audio podcasts that are produced by Michael Schwartz and also published on CL.) The subject of this podcast is the Boquete Community Playhouse (BCP). The underlying reason for this podcast is to provide an opportunity for three of the recently elected BCP officials to share their vision for what they want to achieve, and secondly to let the community know what they can do to help the BCP bring its vision to fruition. This podcast includes Phil Bennett (BCP President), Penny Barrett (BCP Vice President), and Jan Thompson (BCP Membership Chairperson). Podcasts are premium content on CL, which means that you need to be a registered member of CL and logged in. Membership on CL is free, so if you are not already a member, then register and listen to the BCP podcast. If you are NOT already a registered member of CL, then first access CL at Chiriqui.Life and click on the "Sign Up" icon in the upper right area.
