  1. This is the result of what we called here: government and politicians "paternalism" or "populism".     It is a bad strategy used by politicians to get support from uneducated, low income masses.   The more ignorant and dependent thos people are the better for them to get their support at elections days.  They create this kind of dependence and those people thinks that they deserve everything for free from government.  I dont like to much all those "social" trips to poor areas in the comarcas to give food, clothing and toys a couple of times a year and what happened to the rest of the days in a year.

I am a believer of this old saying:  "Dont give people a fish.... teach them how to fish them."   What is needed is to improve education.  Increase health and create better conditions for creating good and new jobs.  By giving away everything for free you create a society with parasites that dont want to work and pretend they deserve everything for free from the government.

It's probably been about a year now since I pushed the 'Upgrade to Windows 10' button.

Despite dire warnings from those with a fear of the unknown, I've had no issues whatsoever.

Looks like most of the problems found on Windows 10 are when you upgrade from a previous version of Windows.  It happened to me with the last laptop I had.  I did the upgrade and I have had some problems.  I bought a new one that came with the Windows 10 installed and the problems have been minors.  Only a couple of issues like the one with the Video Projectors and other one that downloading drivers and updates solved the problems.

The old laptop I did uninstall all the software I had there and did a restore of the system and it is working fine again.   I guess that the new upgrade to Windows 10 had some conflicts with the software already installed.

    Roger,

To solve your issue, you need to get an HDMI to VGA converter.   Amazon has them very inexpensive.   Here is one I would recommend:

    https://www.amazon.com/VicTsing-Gold-Plated-Converter-Adapter-Desktop/dp/B016HL4CAY/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1477665023&sr=8-3&keywords=hdmi+to+vga+adapter

You plug this into the HDMI port on your laptop and then use a VGA cable to run between the projector and the computer.

    Thanks for the information.

Since some companies use TV Sets as monitors in their conference rooms looks like the trend goes to using HDMI ports.   But I went to bed with this worry in my mind so I waked up early this morning and did a update on all the drivers, specially those that have to do with graphic boards and monitors.   I dont know how but I went today to a customer office to do a presentation and without hope I connected my laptop to their video projector........ suddenly the image of my desktop appeared on the screen.  I felt so happy like a kid wearing new shoes.  Looks like in some way it did solved the problem.

But believe me.  I appreciate your advice and I was seriously considering that option.

  4. The last laptop I bought is a Dell and it came with Windows 10 installed.  I havent had any major problem with this new Windows.

Recently I found that it is giving me trouble with video projectors when doing presentations.  I did not recognized the video projectors.  This new computer came with only a HDMI video port and not more the regular VGA Video port.

I will look what is the best solution for this issue.  I give a lot of presentations to my customers and this is a problem for me.

Folks considering a move to Boquete and those who are relatively new (less than two years?) should attend the Newcomer's informational meeting at BCP next Tuesday at 10:30. There will be a panel of expats discussing all aspects of life in Boquete including Susan Peterson's short talk on how Boquete has changed over the 40+ years she's lived here.

That would be a very interesting presentation.

Don't hold your breath for the Nic canal. Remember, the failed French attempt to build the Panama canal created the biggest financial disaster in the history of France. If the driving force behind Nic is one Chinese guy, there is virtually zero chance of success.

Until today there is not clear information where the money for financing this huge project will come from.   The Chinese businessman was looking for money doing some meetings with potential investors but not any news about the results.

It is also known that behind this project are the actual President of Nicaragua and his family.   They are controlling everything and are pushing harder for this project even if there is still no clear future about investment, environmental impact, etc.

Don't remember what Panamanian projects caused him to lose money.

I haven't read, heard or knew about any project or investment that company has in Panama.  As much as I can remember he lost some of his money in the China Stock Market.  He didn't have any known project or investment in this country.

Remember that this China businessman made his money in the communication and electronic business back in China.  He is not known in the construction business and/or logistic business.

    Read the book:

Boquete: Rascos de su Historia by Milagros Sanchez Pinzon    This is an historic account of all aspects of the early settlement of Boquete to include the railroad.   The book is in Spanish.  Although my language skills are marginal, I found the book captivating.  I learned a lot of new words and wrote the definitions in the margins.  I will be reading this book again and again.  The history of the settlement of Boquete is a fastening story !!!!

That is good!!!   It is a good start to learn and master the Spanish language.

And it is better if you are reading a book that is interesting and captivating.
