  1. The virus will be active for many many more months and the interior of the location does not allow for the amount of people that frequent the market  and the monitoring and control of same.   Distancing will be an issue for months. . A restaurant on the other hand has an ability to control the amount of customers inside and out and physically mandating the spacing. .

That said, it makes absolutely no sense whatsoever for BCP to renew a a contract that can not be utilized.   Seems that to allow Tap Out to move forward with business and hold the contract until the health climate changes is currently the better option..

BTW, by much blood sweat and tears of volunteer effort and input of money, restored the building that BCP has utilized.   It's primary purpose was for a permanent  theater location    It was resurrected from a need of repair and moved forward. What evolved was a theater but as well a place for vendors.  I sense COVID as the impetus for Anayansi making this business decision at this point in time. ( just my personal thoughts...)

  2.  Everybody in Boquete wants BCP to continue and I sense Anayansi ( owner of the property) does as well.   I have hopes that it will be worked out.  Right now COVID has shut this sort of thing down anyway which affords time to possibly negotiate a plan with the Tap Out folks.

  3. Lots out recently on Vit D as apparently folks started taking mega doses.  So now you see the kickback Vit D cautions out in medical literature.  Vit D (which normally we get from about 30 minutes out in the sun ) certainly would be on the lower side for us ole folks confined to our homes.  Vit D is essential for bone production.  I take Vit D supplements in the recommended dosage for folks over 70 yr old of  4000 IU per day.   Good stuff !  Take some...or...get some sun in that the forbidden will soon be allowed as of Monday. Enjoy life.  Stay very mindful of all your exposure risks. Go with the flow...BUT DON"T forget....that COVID is still out there!       . ...a prayer...toss that in too.

  4. Tea Tree Oil in dilution.

I put a little into a dropper bottle and dilute the Tea Tree oil with water.     I add a dropper of diluted T.T. oil to my wet and dry mop water.    I have found that my allergies have greatly reduced ( pet hair?  Dust mites? dust? )

OK so today I washed windows and screens and what the hell I put some Tea Tree oil in the water...yup the window washing water !   The windows and screens came out perfect and whats more there's this fresh smell that wafts through the clean Tea Treed screens.

BUT THE EUREKA is the flies hate the stuff.   I washed the porch and around the front door using the left over window water. . BAM..flies be gone.

WOW....now when I open the door I get only one or two flies...  All's well

  5. When all else fails reduce to amt down to $200. We have two card so 2 withdrawals at $5.50 each.   That's what we have had to do since our usual writing a check off our USA bank to deposit to Multibank is no longer an option. Bill will go to Scotia tomorrow and attempt a check written off our USA bank...see if we can accomplish that in that we have an account there as well.  Just have to go with the flow....

O.K.  So we have very strict firearms laws and the police are consumed with checking to see if you are 10 minutes outside your time out?  Here’s another thought, get the police back to investigations and solving crime.  Seems to me it would be a better use of resources.

Jails & Juvenile detention centers.  More police.  Have Martinelli finance that with the money he relieved the country of.  Freedom for the cash .  Panama City populous are sick of the gangs and are okey dokey with them killing each other off. Very sad state of affairs. Keep your doors locked.

  7. Don was a very empathetic soul.  He took on the job of Warden ( representative volunteer  for US citizens interfacing with the US government) .  It's very difficult sometimes to be "the one" who is meeting an urgent need of a fellow citizen here in a foreign land.  Many sick and many without money and many non-Spanish speakers asked him for assistance.  His "job" as volunteer was to advise and assist ; to connect.  He always went the extra mile.  He sat at the bedside.  He arranged care for handicapped in homes.  He gave his time, his soul and often...his money.  Chiriqui Chatter was his way of conversing with us all informally.  (..like CL and the work Bud does here.)  Don shared his life experiences on his "Chiriqui Chatter".  Lots of times it was griping about internet connections and speed, or sharing a eureka on how to upgrade his cyber-gadgets.   We got to meet his family in the USA through "Chiriqui Chatter" and as well his stories about his wife and he living here.  We got to know Don very well.....he was "our connection"

When Don left here to return to the USA we disconnected a bit...at least many of us here felt that way...Don was gone.  One of his last posts was : "How to pack-cheap in order to leave Panama" .   He shared how he packed all his special things into suitcases...lots of them....and shipped them out.  Cheap !   Even leaving, he helped us

Now Don's gone.          He left.   ......and many of us cry.    I am.

    RIP Don.

  8. Don Williams our beloved friend passed away May 4, 202 at the age of 77 .

He died peacefully at home in the company of his wife and family after a brief illness.  He was a saint in his work as Warden for US citizens here and always provided us with some news of interest via Chiriqui Chatter.  Our hearts ache for his wife, children and the entire flock of grankids who miss him dearly.

    RIP DON.

      Let's not blame Lily

Sadly this entire situation has been distorted.  Bill and I  have NEVER blamed anybody for anything,  We want to make that very clear.  That is just NOT our style period!.  To be accused of that saddens my husband and I.  We were attempting to make a donation to a charity, and in so doing, my PayPal account was phished and we lost some money.  ( hack)   That had NOTHING to do with Lily or the wonderful folks my husband and I both appreciate  ( Magalay and Javier) at the Dog Camp

My husband and I are  owed this opportunity to make that abundantly clear. !

We must all keep in mind that to get ahead when we integrate into the new normal, Not only will international loan funds be needed. It will be just as important or more important to have robust and reliable leadership that can guide the country

MORE important than ever, that every dime that is loaned to this country find it's proper place that is NOT inside a pocket of a politician.   Corruption has drained this country......for a long long time. It is way beyond time for a change . Lets hope transparency is ONE good thing that can come out of this pandemic.

  11. DON't CLICK the FLICKER photo link.  I got phished doing that.   I opened the photo page and a donation link appeared. I clicked that and automatically $59.00 was charged.  I went back and never saw that again.  PayPal would not make good on it.  I filed a phish report with the link to Flicker.  I cancelled my credit card and as well filed a dispute with VISA.  Lily said she did not receive any donation.  The receipt said I purchased SOFTWARE.  Not a donation to Animales for the mask project.

Contact Lily directly by her email as she instructed.

  12. ....sigh.  Well, as it seems to be rolling everywhere. ....the COVID catastrophe has brought out the worst ( and best.....) of mankind.  Dark times brought out  a few roaches.

Meanwhile there are people starving.... their pet animals as well.......no scraps.     To demonstrate a light in a dark place...Amigos de Animals/ Dog Camp are still sheltering and caring for the lost and newborn animals in town.   BUT AS WELL....volunteers are taking bags of donated dog food up to the places where the poor live.   Boquete citizens ( working with the Alcalde) have donated their money to fill food bags for poor people.

+The people are still making it...together.

+The leaders ......well, these times seem to sift the bad out quick.  Critical eyes are more peeled these days.  Short tempers in Panama parliament just don't fly anymore.

+ What will "normal" be?.....when it's "normal" again?     Alison

  13. Gang killings outnumber coronavirus deaths:   https://www.newsroompanama.com/news/gang-killings-outnumber-coronavirus-deaths

Be 100 % certain all your safeguards are always in place.....lock doors.  Silently, you might be surprised by an intruder and have very little time to respond.  Never forget Marion Clamp ( It was a miracle she survived that brutal home invasion so many years ago ) !   Unfortunately roaming wild animals are  now enjoying the open spaces, and are setting off our perimeter alarms......we are trying now to adjust the beams at a greater height.
