Our experience is DHL gets the ballot there in a week. It costs $50.00. ( For D.H.L. it must be sent to a street address not a P.O. box.) FAX of the ballot never was confirmed at either end. There were repeated attempts to FAX and with numerous FAX numbers that the Board of Elections supplied to us. We were told the FAX machines are very busy on the USA end ( Orlando) . That was no problem as Orange County Florida instructs you to send both the FAX and a hard copy by mail. Once one arrives, the vote is able to be cast and should the other eventually transmit (FAX) . In our experience the FAX never got there but the DHL did ! Each voting locality has it's own instructions. START NOW if you are planning to get a vote to the USA.

Thanks for your insights Jim. I get this 6th sense that the flow might be a bit slow for a time. Amazon is now backing off on giving arrival estimates if the items are not already in stock. ( Folks might not order up if they knew off the starting block that the wait will be 2 months !.....)

It takes 2 months to get an order of black thread from Amazon sold by Coates and Clark right now. (They will give you a 2 week estimate then gradually shift the arrival date forward...by as much as a month....over and again.) I have been making masks for friends, the poor and charities. I use a lot of thread !
I wonder if in time with this China virus situation there will be a change in what is commercially available for the reduction of supplies coming out of China. Friends in Alaska report thinning shelves........................just pondering...

Great book I strongly recommend:
Eat to Beat Disease by Dr William Li
Easy read. Its all about new discoveries in human physiology and nutrition. Exciting discoveries have been made to optimize heath and prevent disease. Its not a recipe book...and yes it is in ways...because ideas are presented as to how to prepare some neat healthy meals. Statistcs are presented on research studies that were mind boggling to me. HUGE differences in just a few weeks on say heart attack recovery by eating certain foods. The book is loaded with lots of real interesting facts

When ethylene glycol breaks down in the body it forms chemicals that crystallize, and the crystals can collect in your kidneys and can affect kidney function. Ethylene glycol also forms acidic chemicals in the body, which can change the body’s acid/base balance and affect your nervous system, lungs, and heart. Early diagnosis and treatment have been very successful in people drinking large amounts of ethylene glycol.

Gotta use our good common sense these daze. Exercise is great and the more the better if you don't croak from a heart attack. Digest what you read and filter it to where it fits your personal context. A friend with cancer told me "masks are dangerous". ( something that she read and does believe) Be careful. There is a lot of false information out there and some of it can really mess you up!
Alison, still a nurse
BTW: Latest information is ...masks may not be enough, and face shields with a masks afford you more protection. Nobody is wild about that but it may well be the absolute truth !

UPDATE:
Our plate expired in May. Today we went to Dolega Muni with our revisado in hand along with copies ( now available right across the street there). The waiting line was no more than 10-15 people at any one time. Work is done directly through the jalousy windows from the street to the office inside ( perfect set up) More than one window is working. It was a bit of a wait to find out the plates are not here. I paid, and did receive an official document saying we are PAID and PLATED ( paper plated) for one year. I was handed my change and papers then told I need to go to another office ( by the stadium) in 3 months with again copies of documents to get my plates ( but you know how that goes ) . ...and what office is that? More discovery.
Next we tackle paying of our auto insurance that expires in August. That's a whole nuther adventure.

DogCamp needs the ongoing supportof people like yourself to continue saving lives. We are currently taking care of 40 dogs at the shelterand another 6 living with our wonderful fosters.Rescuing a dog is HARD !It's hard to see them arrive battered, abandoned, orstarving. Sometimes, it is just as hard to watch themleave, even to the best of homes. However, for DogCamp, adoptions are critical to giveour dogs the opportunity to have a forever home anda loving family.Additionally, adoptions allow us to make room for themany more dogs in need of loving care.ADOPT OR FOSTER A DOG!Contact us dogcampboquete@gmail.com / 65638686 / 69659423IS TIME TO FIND A GOOD HOME FOR THEM!Wendy and Patricia, both are rescued dogs from a bad situation. They are 4 years old, they love each other and want to be together all the time. We tried to give in adoption and we separated but Patricia didn't want to eat for 3 days and she was sitting at the gate everyday waiting for Wendy, so Wendy had to come back. They were adopted together 2 years ago but their owner had a car accident and they couldn't stay in Panama and they had to come back to the States, it was so sad the day they had to leave them here. This time we want a home for them together, we know is not easy but is not impossible. They are so sweet, love the people and they are great with other dogs. Please consider to adopt them or foster them togetherRemember, often the difference between life and death is you !Thank you so much for your help.DogCamp Boquete FoundationJavier, Magaly and the rescued dogs !For donations, please use this PayPal from our friend Kirsten https://paypal.me/kirstenmiaquimby (include a note please saying DogCamp)Or you can go by La Granja Boquetena and buy dog food or give a donation to our donation Casita or buy a nice washable mask, we have new designs!!
Those two dogs are the sweetest ever ( Wendy and pal) ! We adopted Wendy during the COVID but Wendy and her pal are in love as they are a pair. Separated, they were sad. We brought Wendy back and both were again happy and content. We can say, Wendy is as sweet as a dog can be. ( we shed a tear to take her back) To adopt them both would be a blessing for them. Alison and Bill
So...when we took Wendy the dog back, we took Weasel home from the Dog Camp. It's been 3 months and we are very happy together. Thank you Dog Camp ! (BTW the Dog Camp is very flexible to make sure the dog works out for you. As with Wendy, we took her back and got another...everybody's happy !)

Licences Plate renewal. ( ours expired in May)
I see cars with 2020 plates that were purchased during the quarantine period. One man I questioned this morning said he got his in Panama City ( no doubt that is where his car registry is)
For those of us here, we have one month to get a new plate on our car if it is currently expired. Can anybody tell me how this is done now? Is the Dolega Municipal Office open for that currently?
Thanks

Good idea to wear your best mask when outside even around your house. Moist air with dust. More possibility of infectious material in the air according to the attached report. . Folks with COPD ( emphysema) should remain indoors until this passes over. Acute respiratory distress can occur and this is not the best time to need hospital support if you were to need inhalation treatment to relieve an acute bout of emphysema. Alison. nurse

Plan at least a couple of weeks here before you pull the plug there. You won't regret that. COVID is causing change . Change happens here normally. Some questions answered here now might be different when you decide to move here. Residents VISA. No mention of VISA?. You will need one. Opening a bank account right here and now is not as easy as you are used to there in L.A. There are folks that function here without a bank account. You must rely on ATM transactions. Mail here is received by private mail forwarder...MailBoxes Etc is one. There are ample home rentals available here.....look them over on your scout visit. Buying a car?...That's the easiest, money talks.

.......My eyes fail. I did not see anything about plastic bottles. How could that have been missed? ( thank God the cocktail straws will be eliminated ! huge problem) It is heartening that Panama is making a start, albeit slowly.
