  2. You will create up to 12 Paintings in just 2 days! *: mats not included Robyn Cole Artworks Presents: Cold Wax Workshop Description No experience or art talent required -- I teach you everything you need to know. This is a fun, 2-day event!! Students will be introduced to methods of working in oil paints and cold wax through an intuitive process utilizing various non-traditional mark making tools. Cold wax (a mix of beeswax and natural solvents) is applied at room temperature and combined with oil paint to become a sensuous butter-cream texture—a lot of fun to work! Combining this mixture in many layers produces results with texture and depth that cannot be duplicated in any other medium. This is a different process from encaustic and does not involve the use of heat. Materials Provided: cold wax, oil paints, pigment sticks, charcoal, pastels, citrus solvent, brayers, rollers, palette knives, squeegees, scrapers, odd assortment of marking tools, oil paper and palette paper. Students leave with up to eight 4" x 4" paintings and up to four 6" x 9" paintings such as what is shown above. Mats are not included but are available for purchase. Suggested items for you to bring: Apron or paint shirt Something to transport paintings home (pizza box, box lid) If you want a specific color scheme – bring oil paints and pigment sticks What to Expect: Students will learn basic concepts and techniques of oil/cold wax painting and to incorporate other media including oil pigment sticks, Stabilo pencils, charcoal, and oil pastel. Techniques include methods of application, building depth and texture, removing layers, reveals, masks and unique mark-making. Through handouts, video and discussion we will review elements of design in abstract painting. The workshop structure is relaxed and appropriate for artists at all levels. Students will have plenty of time to create their own samples for future use as well as create from 8 to 12 paintings to take home. Date: Monday and Tuesday, April 25th and 26th TIme: 10 am to 5 pm. This allows 1 hour for lunch/discussion Price: $150 ($50 materials fee, $100 tuition) You are enrolled upon payment, either through Paypal (click here and scroll to the bottom) or via cash payment in person. Email robyncole@thirdworldwife.com to make arrangements. 12. I decided to toss caution to the wind (read as "spend more money for CL") and remove the 500KB limit on photos. Post / upload to your hearts content (well, until I go to paupers prison).
  13. Thanks for your two-part feedback. We definitely understand about having bad days.
  14. Don Ray Williams has not been banned from CL. He requested that his account be closed.
  15. The new forum has been created. It is in the topical category (i.e., the first category in the forums). The title is "Shopping and Store Resources". Note that forums are placed in alphabetical order (with the exception of the Miscellaneous at the tail end). If you want any changes in this new forum, just ask. Great idea.
  16. There is a limit of about 500KB for pictures. Can you downsize the images and then post them? There are free resources on the Internet for doing such.
  17. Great idea. Will get that done this afternoon. Thanks for this suggestion, and keep them coming. That is how we get better.
  18. To U.S. Citizens living in Boquete and surrounding communities: As you know, our Boquete Warden for the U.S. Embassy, Price Peterson, has decided to step aside after many years of providing wonderful support to us all. Recently I interviewed for the position and was chosen to be the new U.S. Warden for Boquete. I look forward to being a liaison between you and the U.S. Embassy in your time of need. For those of you who do not know me, I would like to tell you a little about myself. I am bilingual; I was born in Colombia and lived throughout South and Central America before I moved to the U.S. at age 16. Shortly after graduating high school I served in the Army in Viet Nam. Once home from Viet Nam I entered college and haven't stopped taking courses. I will finish a law degree at ISAE University in David on May 1, 2016. My work background covers a wide gamut: law enforcement, private investigations, water and waste water management and engineering, instruction at a law enforcement academy, and property management. The Citizens Services Chief at the U.S. Embassy suggested adding the position of an Alternate Warden so there is always at least one person here to assist you. I am very pleased to announce that, at my request, Bonnie Williams has accepted this position. Many of you are familiar with Bonnie from Bid4Boquete. She has given of herself to this community for years. Prior to relocating to Boquete in early 2007 from Tallahassee, Florida, Bonnie served as the Executive Director of the Florida Commission on Ethics, where she first was employed in 1974. She holds a B.A. from Indiana University and graduate degrees from Florida State University. Bonnie and I look forward to serving you. We have many thoughts and ideas on keeping you informed and supporting your needs. Once we have been oriented into this position, we plan to communicate with you on a regular basis. Please feel free to contact us. I have established an email account specifically for this position. Hank Landis, Boquete Warden for U.S. Citizens landis.boquete.warden@comcast.net
