Paws for the Cause – DogCamp Boquete
               Poop Scoop

    CONGRATULATIONS ARE IN ORDER.
On Friday, April 2nd underwent a MINSA inspection and passed with flying colors!!!!!!
They checked the dogs and the area and they didn't find anything wrong!
We are the only shelter/rescue/board and care center for BOQUETE

As you know, DogCamp’s goal is to help abandoned, neglected and abused
dogs reach good health so that they can be placed in temporary foster care, or better yet, find a forever, loving home.
Currently there are 46 dogs on site, with an additional 16 dogs and cats that are being ged and supported ‘on the street’. Needless-to-say, the demand for food, medicine and medical attention continues to be a constant need. While we won’t bore you with their complete itemized monthly expense report its worth viewing some of the ongoing monthly costs DogCamp incurs:
Yard maintenance (fumigate) and  a worker  $400.
Gas $240. (rescues, Dr. appmts. Getting supplies, etc)
        Cleaning Supplies $126.
        Dog Food $1,532.
Monthly Medical Care (medicine, shampooing, vitamins, etc) $213.
Medical Care/ Treatment per new rescue dog  $170. (average # of
new rescues per month is 5-6  which gives you a sense of  the
total monthly cost in this one category)

Obviously we rely on our wonderful community to help with these ongoing expenses and resources.  For that reason and much more, we thank you and appreciate all you do to support our efforts.

HOW CAN YOU HELP DOGCAMP ?

There are many ways you can help. They include:

    FUR-EVER SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM
This program is designed for folks willing to give a monthly donations of $30. This donation will provide dog food, vaccines, medication, vitamins and the cost of keeping a clean.bed. The sponsor is coupled with a specific Fur-ever dog and sponsors can come to visit to select which dog they wish to sponsor or we can do it
through Whatsapp –whichever method they would like. This is such a nice way to personalize your donation and support for the work we do.

    DOGCAMP BOARDING
One way to support DogCamp is to use their boarding services. There are so many benefits to having DogCamp board your dog(s) while you are away from home or if you would like your dog to interact in an open, healthy environment with other dogs for exercise and socialization;  DogCamp is the place !
Some of the many benefits to boarding with DogCamp includes:
    -        eliminates owner' absent behavior problems
    -        builds confidence
    -        develops healthy social skills
    -        maintains good physical and mental health
    -        decreases stress on the dog AND on the owner knowing the dogs are in the best of hands
Should you have questions regarding boarding or wish to make a boarding appointment, please contact Javier or Magaly at    6830-6858 / 6965-9423
    Email  dogcampboquete@gmail.com

    TAPOUT TUESDAY MARKET
An additional way to support DogCamp is to shop at DogCamp's  table located at the TapOut parking lot. Not only is there a variety of items for purchase but we often have a dog or two for adoption/foster consideration. Every Tuesday this location is used to drop off donations for the shelter itself or for unwanted items we resell at our Venta Patio Sales.

    VENTA PATIO SALES
Once or twice a year, DogCamp puts on a Patio Sale (yard sale). We want and need
donations in all areas – clothing, tools, furniture, home furnishings and so much more. We ask that whatever you donate be free of major stains, tears and in working condition. You can drop off donations at the DogCamp Tuesday Market table in the TapOut parking lot or you can call to arrange for a pick up by contacting Javier or Magaly at 6830-6858 / 6965-9423

Its hard to see our rescues arrive battered, abandoned or neglected, and while DogCamp creates a special bond with each dog rescue, there is  nothing more exciting for us to see our dogs get an opportunity for foster care or adoption, Consistent, loving human contact is invaluable in ensuring a happy, healthy way of life for our dogs. Additionally, adoptions allow us to make room for the many more dogs in need of the same level of loving support and care.

Beautiful morning, the event held at the Arco Iris Salon at de Flower Fair building’s success was thanks to very hard working VOLUNTEERS, the cooperation of Tap Out that let us use of their parking lot, and BCP’s offer and set up of table and chairs and thanks to the team from The Flowers fair that offered and facilitated the use of their building.
A very special THANK YOU to the volunteers. Without the help from JANE HAMPTON who organize this event, JANE VASARHELY., BETH ABRAHAMS, LESLIE MCPEAK, LYNN MCPEAK, EDDIE AND JHON BAXTER, LARRY WHITE, we could not do this event, and of course all the volunteers friends who were there yesterday and today.
All Minsa requirements were met and having done so thanks to the hard work of Magaly and Javier, permission for the two day event in May is set. If you missed this one, hopefully we will see you then for a day featuring housewares and a second featuring the arts, holidays, sports and electronics.

Thank you so much! The next venta de patio will be May 23rd and May 24th.
We did $1300, thank you for your support

PAWS FOR THE CAUSE – DogCamp Boquete Poop Scoop from DogCamp
Like any small town, rumors happen often resulting in confusion. We are rolling out this first edition of the Poop Scoop newsletter so that we can update this wonderful community on the current status of DogCamp.
    WHAT IS DOGCAMP?
DogCamp is a charitable organization whose mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, socialize and find permanent, loving homes for dogs in and around Boquete, Panama. They are a foster/adoption, no-kill shelter that is free of cages and chains. The founders and operators, Magaly and Javier started rescuing animals years ago and have grown DogCamp into a recognized and respected rescue and foster shelter. Their work in rescuing animals helps prevent the spread of disease and improves the lives of the dogs they help.
    DOGCAMP HAS A NEW LOCATION
Forced to leave their current location, DogCamp and friends spent months seeking a new and appropriate location. They found a lovely 8 acre property. This property is ideal for DogCamp-away from residential areas, safe and spacious.
If you want to contact DogCamp, you can do it by email dogcampboquete@gmail.com or by their phones numbers 69659423 / 65638686

BOQUETE'S TUESDAY MARKET EXPANSION DogCamp will be adding a second booth to Boquete's Tuesday Markets as it opens its expansion at the Arco Iris location in the Fairgrounds, directly across from the original market location.
They will maintain their existing outdoor location at TapOut, where donations are gladly accepted and on occasion a dog/cat maybe 'on location' for foster/adoption consideration.
The new booth at Arco Iris will showcase a RETAIL Boutique where new and softly used quality and useful items will be on sale.
Information on DogCamp services and volunteer opportunities will also be shared. 100% of the earnings will go to assist with the ongoing expenses of the shelter.
    NEW SPONSOR PROGRAM
DogCamp has 5 dogs that are dogs adopted by Javier and Magaly, 20 dogs that are old dogs, bitters, shy dogs and 2 more dogs that we think people could adopt (Teddy and Cindy).
So, with this program we are looking for monthly donations to keep the dogs with dog food, vaccines, deworm medicine, vitamins, cover the cost of keep a clean bed a clean area for them, they will be permanent dogs, most of them are 5 years old in advance. So we would love that every sponsor help with 30 dollars per month, DogCamp will send pictures and a descripcion every month of every dog with all the information of your sponsor dog. We will post the pictures on facebook and news Boquete from all the dogs that are in this program.
If you are interested to help with this program, please contact us dogcampboquete@gmail.com, next week we will post the pictures of the 20 dogs.

Hi, this is Javier, it is really sad but Oso couldn't make it.
He was fighting for his life during the last 4 days. Dr. Tello just called us some moments ago and said that he was not having any improvement and the best will be to put him down.
It is a shame that many people saw him at the first gas station in town (before we know he was there)... they drove their cars, walked next to him and nobody did nothing for him, nobody took him at least to the vet and then call us to see if we could take him at the shelter.
Some people wrote letting me know he was there in the gas station, asking if i could rescue him, at the beginning i said : no, i am sorry i have many dogs now, the shelter is full... To see if someone take the decision to help him, but... Nobody appeared.
I know, we are well-know for making a big effort to help abused, abandoned, dogs, cats in the community but we do want to be the only ones, we want that you take the decision to help more dogs, more children, more homeless, etc, without expecting that somebody else will do it, if you truly want to help, take action, offer suport, do something.
Taking the picture, calling somebody else to do the job is not helpful at all and in the meantime Oso was suffering laying on the ground almost in the middle of the town. You dont need to call your self animal lover, dog trainer, doctor, phsycologist to try to heal the suffering of another being...just take the decision without excuses.
6 years ago, we worked so hard in every job possible we could find, knowing we could help animals in the future if we could open a shelter, one year later we opened the shelter(we were not DogCamp, just Javier and Magaly, two guys who help) we opened it with few money we could save (400 dollars) we were just expecting the best for the project and the animals and during the first 3 years we rescued almost 1,200 animals, just using our ideas, habilites, hard work, proving we are devoted to our mission and praying for you to join us to this cause.
I am letting you know this because as you can see there is no excuses to achieve something, many of you know we practically do not have our own a place now for working in peace but we are still here, we are still here...
i mean... there was no excuses to help Oso.
I truly appreciatte people who support him and the dogs from here and anywhere else, you know who you are, i know who you are, Good, Krishna, Budha, Universe, will bless you all.

    Anita!!
Yesterday we received a message asking for help for a small dog that was living in the streets of Alanje, La Concepción (2 hours from Boquete), Today the person who rescued her, came to Boquete with the little poor dog.
She is the little dog that came today to DogCamp from Alanje La Concepción. The expat who found her told us that she had owners and the owners told him that they thought is normal that this dog is in this conditions. Poor baby
We feed her, of course she ate like crazy, drunk a lot of water and she received a warm bath.
Now she is sleeping in a bed inside of a kenel in a separate area.
Monday we will take her to the vet to make a blood test 🤩

Hi, we are looking for a new place, because the neighboor who lives at our left is complaining now, after 2 and a half that we are here. He was caught stealing the money from the rent that we paid every month. He didnt paid complete or simply didnt pay to the owner. In the past an expat was living here and this guy, the neighboor, made the owner believe that the expat was still living here. The neighboor offered his help in translations to the owner, this is how he started to "help" the owner for charging the rent to the expat. When we found the place, the neighboor said he was the manager of the land and we trust him because he was know by one of our friend, then we sign a contract but now we know that he never showed it to the owner. One day the owner appear here saying why are you not paying the rent, but we show to him all the receipts and the contract, this is how the owner and us knew about the stealing. This guy never let the owner know about the New contract and also the owner was thinking that the old contract was finished, so he came to check gis property and that we me him. Because we discover that the neighboor was stealing the money, he took revenge complaining with Minsa, this institute said that everything is ok, but they can do nothing if just one neighboor is complaining. So they said we need to reduce the number of dogs asap or they can close the place.
Now we are thinking that everything is for a reason so we are taking this as a posibility to be Big and better. It means we have a new challenge, find a better place for the dogs in Boquete, and start a new project with the experiencie you know we have.
If two persons could create a shelter from nothing and help the animals from the community ,  we think a  community can join forces to help us to build a better project. Please let us know how if you know some locations... Thanks! 6563 8686 (Magaly) 6965 9423 (Javier).
If you want to now the name of the neighbor, send to us a PM, thanks
