The impact of this achievement is immeasurable, as each pint of blood can be used in three different ways. This means that a total of 207 patients will benefit from these life-saving donations. And one of them might be you or someone you know. This accomplishment has brought immense joy to the organizers at Boquete Health & Hospice and the Blood Bank of Hospital Regional Rafael Hernández. We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone involved in making this blood drive a success. First and foremost, we express our deepest gratitude to the blood donors. Demographically, the donors were 70% women and 30% men. They were 64% expatriates and 36% Panamanians. Their selfless act of donating blood humbles us all and will make a significant difference in the lives of those in need. We also extend our appreciation to the dedicated staff members from the Blood Bank at Hospital Regional Rafael Hernández, as well as the technicians from Hospital Chiriqui and Hospital Mae Lewis. Your expertise and support played a vital role in ensuring the success of the Blood Drive. A special acknowledgment goes to our corporate sponsors who generously supported the event: Melissa Chong from Mini Super Aldo Dorado, Jamie Clem of JeJay Videos, Chris Young from Big Daddy’s, and Amigos de Animales. We would also like to recognize the invaluable efforts of our BHH volunteers who prepared for the event and worked tirelessly throughout the blood drive. Carmen Restrepo, Janice Norris, Laurie Collier, Bill Hinrichsen, Mary Nieves, Cat Vann, Ginny Woolley, Sofia Valdez, and Kat McKay—you all have made a significant impact through your dedication and support. We greatly appreciate the sincere contributions of Caesar Sherrard and Susie Brymer, who shared their personal stories of needing blood unexpectedly, and how BHH was able to help. Thanks also goes to Caesar’s wife Antonieta for bringing treats for the volunteers and staff. We extend our gratitude to singer and multi-instrumentalist Scott McConachie and his band mate Denzl Keenan for their musical talent and performance at the event. Their music was highly appreciated by donors, staff, and volunteers alike. We would also like to acknowledge the contributions of Chris McCall and Deb Hornstra, BHH's dedicated creative promoters, for their hard work in raising awareness and publicizing the Blood Drive and the Matching Fund. Their strategic efforts had a measurable impact upon our success. And muchas gracias to Michael Polacek and Wes Macomber for creating a new set of videos in English and Spanish to use in our blood drive campaigns. Moreover, we express our heartfelt thanks to the matching fund donors who generously contributed to our cause. Laurie and Kelly Collier, Natalie and Mike Kelly, Price and Susan Peterson, Daniel and Soriana Forbes, Lawrence Bunyard, Linda and Doug Avery, Penny Barrett, Sally Zigmond and Peter Sterling, Caesar and Antonieta Sherrard, Kat McKay, Trish and Brian Christofferson, Brandy Gregory, Karen Schwartz, Paul and Welthy Myers, Steve and Cheri White, Bill Hinrichsen, David Mullis, William Hurley, John and Babbie Earle, Kim and Robin Ward, Esther Leung, Ada Yip, Diana Pynnonen, Carol Kennedy, Rod Gottula, Jane Hampton, William Clendaniel, Jr., Kenneth Clark, Marne Coggan, Debbie Friedenberg, and one anonymous donor—your support has made a significant impact on the lives of the families we serve through our Blood Donor Program. It was very heartwarming to once again see the greater Boquete community participating together in this vital event that speaks to the humanity of all. Volunteers and donors represented a wide spectrum of the district: local Boqueteños, donors from Volcan, resident expats, many business leaders, the municipal government, farmers, teachers, musicians, and everyday mothers and fathers. We are proud that our small, diverse district can come together for the wellbeing of our one human family. Thanks to all of you on behalf of the families served by our Blood Donor Program. Our Sincere Thanks for Anonymous Gift Recently, BHH was blessed with a generous donation that will greatly assist with programs in 2024. A million thanks to this anonymous donor who made the donation through 501(c)(3). At this time of the year charities such as Boquete Health & Hospice are working on their plans for the coming year and preparing budgets. This is a time when many people are working with financial advisors to assess the tax situation. Many people can make a donation through 501(c)(3) that will directly reduce their tax obligation. This is a win-win for the donor and recipient. For anyone planning to contribute to our 501(c)(3) organization or explore other ways to contribute such as setting up a legacy gift via estate planning, please contact BHH President Rod Gottula directly at +507 6644-6351 or at rodgottula@gmail.com. This effect is especially profound in patients with Alzheimer's and Dementia, as seen in the documentary "Alive Inside." But the positive effects of selecting the right music can be noticed in anyone, regardless of the status of their health. This is why the Magic of Music team offers equipment and services to all BHH patients and caregivers. The Magic of Music Team has mp3 players and mini-speakers available to lend patients. We also have a vast catalogue of music that contains over half a million songs! We can build custom-tailored playlists which can help patients and their caregivers who contact Boquete Health & Hospice for assistance. If you are a caregiver or a patient of BHH, we can connect YOU with the music that lights YOU up! 8. It also involves working on yourself emotionally and taking greater responsibility for your lifestyle, attitude and patterns of mind. CranioSacral and Somatic Movement Therapy both promote and address the importance of the Central Nervous System upon our health and well-being. They help us see into ourselves to understand the effect of our lifestyle and thoughts on the body and in our personal lives. Through the deep reflection offered by both we have the opportunity to ask if we are creating stressful or healing hormones with how we're perceiving ourselves and others. Too, we can reflect and ask if we are doing what we can to take greater responsibility for our healing and well-being. Both support us toward moving forward through naturally creating a balanced and strong meditative state, and serve to bring us more fully into ourselves. "An Instructor of Somatic Movement and Practitioner of both therapies, I'm working on naturally healing myself of skin cancer. To begin, I recognize this imbalance is not new & has developed over the course of my life. Having received abuse to my skin from professionals when young as well as from myself- from excessive drugs and too much sun- I'm electing to do what I can to create new facial skin and a healthy complexion. Fortunately, for my self-interest, my process of inner healing continually deepens. as I keep learning about and refining my diet and the supplements and herbs I take. Also, I exercise my body including my face, meditate, breathe, & practice self-reflection to experience where my patterns of thought and lifestyle can be more conducive to happiness and joy. And I practice gratitude daily. Totally, I believe healing is an inside job, and that both CranioSacral and Somatic Movement Therapy powerfully support and assist one's healing process. A student of Dr. Joe Dispenza, I believe, "Change your personality, change your biology and change your life." - Suzanna Clare, M.A. To learn more about either or both therapies, session fees {including packages & offers], my location and/or myself, the Therapist, Do inquire and I will send a complete write-up. 12.   Giving Tuesday & Amigos De Animales **They asked... We answered** Dear Animal Lovers and Supporters, As the holiday season approaches, we invite you to be part of a remarkable initiative that will transform lives and create a lasting impact. **Giving Tuesday**, celebrated on the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving, is a day when compassion and generosity take center stage. This year, we are rallying support for an **Education Outreach Sterilization Clinic** at the heartwarming **Volcancito School** in **Boquete, Panama**. Our goal is to raise $5,000. ♥♥ The Little School That Could ♥♥ Volcancito School, nestled amidst lush greenery and vibrant smiles, embodies resilience and community spirit. Despite its modest size, this little school has a big heart. When we shared our vision of bringing animal sterilization clinics to local schools, Volcancito School didn't hesitate—it said, "We can do this!" And do it they did. ♥♥ The Challenge ♥♥ In a region where transportation barriers often prevent families from accessing veterinary services, Volcancito School became a beacon of hope. Students, teachers, and parents rallied together, determined to make a difference. They rolled up their sleeves, organized fundraisers, and spread the word. The result? An incredible **39 dogs and cats** sterilized right within the school premises! ♥♥ Our Goal ♥♥ Now, inspired by Volcancito's unwavering spirit, we want to expand this initiative. Our goal for 2024 is to sterilize at least **100 animals at each of five schools** in the Boquete area. Imagine the impact! Fewer unwanted litters, healthier pets, and empowered communities—all because of your support. ♥♥ How You Can Help ♥♥ 1. **Donate**: Every **$40** helps us sterilize one animal. Your contribution directly transforms lives. Click here to donate (please consider making this a recurring monthly donation) 2. **Spread the Word**: Use our custom hashtag **#SterilizeBoquete** on social media. Let's create a ripple effect of compassion. 3. **Volunteer**: If you're in Boquete, consider volunteering at our school clinics. Your presence inspires young minds and fosters change. Click here to complete our Education form ♥♥ Together, We Can Do More ♥♥ This Giving Tuesday, let's honor Volcancito School's spirit by ensuring that other schools experience the same transformation. Your generosity echoes through generations, leaving a legacy of kindness and responsible pet ownership. Thank you for being part of our mission. We couldn't do it without you! I WANT TO HELP With warm regards, Ruby McKenzie, Founder Leslie Sherling, President Amigos de Animales Boquete ♥♥ About Amigos de Animales Boquete (AADAB) ♥♥ Since 2005, AADAB has sterilized over **27,000 animals** in Boquete and surrounding areas. Our Education Outreach Program empowers students with knowledge about animal care and sterilization. Together, we create a more humane world for our furry friends. 16. Dear Community, I hope this email finds you well. I'm writing to inform you that next week the Tuesday market at TAPOUT will take place on Wednesday the 29th. Tuesday the 28th is a national holiday and the mayor is trying to organize parades through town (like every year). This means that we are not sure if traffic to reach us is even possible so we decided to better be sure and replace the Tuesday market on the 28th for Wednesday the 29th. Same place (TapOut), same time (9-12). Please make a note in your calendar so you won't forget to come and support your local vendor. See you on Wednesday the 29th! Regards, Richelle
