  1. Dear Community, I hope this email finds you well. I'm writing to inform you that next week the Tuesday market at TAPOUT will take place on Wednesday the 29th. Tuesday the 28th is a national holiday and the mayor is trying to organize parades through town (like every year). This means that we are not sure if traffic to reach us is even possible so we decided to better be sure and replace the Tuesday market on the 28th for Wednesday the 29th. Same place (TapOut), same time (9-12). Please make a note in your calendar so you won't forget to come and support your local vendor. See you on Wednesday the 29th! Regards, Richelle

  5. They asked – We answered! Hello, These pictures are from Alto Quiel, an elementary school in rural Boquete, Panama with 124 students. Our Education Outreach team was able to work with the students and teachers on how to love and care for their pets and the benefits of sterilization. As one class ended, Josefa raised her hand and asked: “How can we get our animals to the clinic? We have no car.” The administrator of the school immediately asked us to do a sterilization clinic in the school itself! We answered! We took our clinic to the school and sterilized almost 100 dogs and cats! Fortunately, a generous donor helped us pay for that clinic. Fundación Amigos de los Animales is a group of animal lovers who want to continue making a difference in the lives of animals and the communities we live in. We have sterilized almost 27,000 animals since we began in 2005. And we can do more!   Five more schools are asking us to set up clinics at their schools. We want to answer, YES! And, with your help we can! Our goal is to sterilize at least 100 animals at each of these schools in 2024. This will prevent hundreds of unwanted births and reduce greatly the potential suffering of both animals and their owners. How do we do that? We raise $20,000.00 to cover the costs of equipment, supplies, transportation and veterinary staff for these clinics. The cost to sterilize each animal is $40.00. This is our main year-end fundraising campaign. Please, right now, click the button below and help us help these animals and their owners. Whatever you can give will assist us in this reality. They asked – and we can answer with your help! Together we can make a difference in so many ways! Please donate now. Click here to donate   $40 per month will cover one sterilization per month Amigos De Animales, Inc. 2733 Oak Ridge Ct Ste 104 Fort Myers, FL 33901 Email not displaying correctly? Thanks for your understanding and stay safe! MEETING CANCELLED: Join Us for the November General Meeting and Help Shape the Future of BHH You are cordially invited to our next monthly general meeting on Wednesday, November 8 at 10am at the Animales Event Center in Alto Boquete. You may also attend via Zoom by clinking here. The Meeting ID is 849 9109 6207. This will be different from our usual meetings in that we will be soliciting suggestions from the public as to where we should focus our energies. Are you passionate about delivering hospice and palliative care in Panama? Do you have ideas for how BHH can improve our services and reach more people in need? This will be a great opportunity to share your thoughts. We'll be putting our current services under the microscope and discussing how we can make them more organized and efficient. Our Community Outreach group has been making a big push to get the word out to the Panamanian community about our services—how can we improve those efforts? There also appears to be a new emphasis in Chiriquí to improve the province's palliative care system. How can we collaborate with others to maximize the services available to the local community? We'll also take a broader look to the future as we develop our three-year plan. What services do we want to keep providing? Are there any we wish to discontinue? Do we want to develop any NEW programs? Your input is invaluable to us, so please come and share your ideas. If you cannot attend in person or via Zoom, feel free to send your thoughts directly to our president at rodgottula@gmail.com. If received in time, they will be included in the meeting discussion. Together, we can chart a future for BHH that benefits everyone in our community. Thanks to all of you for your dedication to BHH, and we hope to see you at the November meeting! 17. Demonstration Alert (November 1 Update) U.S. Embassy Panama City, Panama Heading into the long holiday weekend, protest organizers maintain their call for demonstrations and roadblocks. This includes locations popular with U.S. citizens on tourism or living in Panama. Due to unforeseen disruptions, the prevalence of unauthorized “tolls” on intercity roadways, and reports of food and fuel shortages in some provinces of Panama, U.S. Embassy personnel have been advised to reconsider intercity travel. U.S. Embassy employees living in affected areas of Panama City have been advised to avoid demonstrations, limit movements, and stay indoors as conditions warrant. The U.S. Embassy continues to restrict mission personnel from traveling to Colón due to protest activity. Previous travel restrictions to parts of the Darien and Mosquito Gulf still apply. The U.S. Embassy continues to receive reports of vandalism, looting, demands for “tolls” at roadblocks, as well as some criminal elements infiltrating peaceful protests to commit robberies. This includes accounts where individuals were taken from their cars and assaulted when unable to pay such “tolls”. U.S. citizens are reminded that Panamanian National Police have used tear gas and other riot control measures to disperse demonstrations, including when demonstrators have blocked roadways or clashed with the police. The U.S. Embassy will send out further updates when there is a change to the current situation. Actions to Take: · Avoid demonstrations. · Exercise caution when traveling. · Monitor local media for updates. · Exercise caution if unexpectedly in the vicinity of large gatherings or protests. · Contact local authorities (dial 911) for any immediate health or safety concerns. · Register for STEP (link below) and refer to our website for the latest alerts and messages for U.S. citizens.
