Plastic Food Wrap—Where?
Siempre Soluciones replied to Marcelyn's topic in Help Desk / Concierge Services (“I need ...”)
Quit fooling around! Pricesmart sells the commercial packs of food service film in either 12" or 18" widths. I've got the 18" which allows you to wrap virtually anything. The days of having to be a contortionist trying to use the small variety packages are gone. I haven't mastered how to tear a sheet off so I hold one side down and slide a straight edge razor blade along the box's built in blade and it cuts perfectly every time. -
Like verifying a time certain in court, that's good to know.

Yes, I agree 100% as many here would too, charm is an excellent description. I forgot to mention that they serve bottled beer too, I believe it's cheaper that the soda.

Yes, but I may add that they're family owned like the Fish House and sometimes decide not to open on time or at all. We went for breakfast one morning and there was one of the owners wearing a bathrobe and slippers preparing her breakfast. She said no breakfast today, see you at lunch.

Cafe Boquete also serves lunch and dinner. Typico ranges from $3 to $3.5, their traditional bowl of chicken soup is $1.50. On Friday and Saturday nights they fire up the outdoor smoker and offer ribs and such. I have neighbors that bring their own plastic Tupperware type containers and buy in bulk to go. Very fast service for lunch if you're in a hurry. However a can of soda such as Coca Cola is $1.50! And their TV is never blaring! There's another lavamatico around the corner on the outdoor seating side across the street. Between the two, you can always get your laundry done quickly.

Bonnie, What I find interesting is that the country specific travel ban that Feeley refers to that President Trump issued was word for word a copy of former President Obama's travel ban. The media did come clean on this simple fact but stated that President Trump had "negative intent" with the ban. The power of the media. That's like an auto dealership denying selling you a car because they think that you have negative intent and might run someone over.

An expat friend recently relocated from Boquete to San Ramon, Costa Rica, and says that Costa Rica is a lot cheaper (food, alcohol, and rent), cleaner, far better roads, and the people are a lot friendlier. After my few visits to Costa Rica (not San Ramon) and having had friends living in Costa Rica visit me here in Panama, that's not our experience. Friends can't believe how cheap things are here in the grocery stores especially beer, wine, and alcohol. Does anyone know what the requirements are and the average cost is to obtain permanent residency in Costa Rica?

Keith, I may be using the wrong terminology, I've never been on the controlling side of a board room, only the begging side. I'm referring to Trump enterprises (whether Trump himself is officially part of it or not) being disassociated with this particular investment since it's probably now considered a toxic investment to Trump enterprises due to recent events.

What amazes me is the fact that Trump's entire enterprise was scrutinized well before the 2016 election, one must wonder if these troubles existed then. In retrospect, this is a godsend for their balance sheet since the hotel industry in Panama City is in the toilet. It'll be interesting to see if troubles exist at any of his other interests.

Bonnie, Was this in Boquete? About a year or so ago there was a discussion on Gringos in David Yahoo Groups about thieves using drones to scope out potential targets in residential areas of David. They were specifically looking at backyards looking for items to steal and inspecting the level of security on the back of houses. One crime watch member instructed people to immediately drive around your neighborhood looking for parked cars since consumer grade drones do not have long ranges. As for trespassing, that would depend on who owns the airspace above your home. I know that varies in the US, I don't know about Panama. Lot's of interesting reading on this subject in the last couple of years since companies like Amazon have been testing using drones for deliveries.

Keith, I think it may be a moot point since President Trump was required to step down from any positions of control of his companies. Per the Reuters article below, he still maintains ownership of his companies but handed over control to his two sons. Can he be trusted is the big question. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-trump-finance/trump-says-wont-divest-from-his-business-while-president-idUSKBN14V21I

VIDEO: Best Solo Performance at BMAF

Excellent point Bonnie, it implies all genres of music plus art, unless that's their objective. I don't see the skinhead and punk rockers mixing in with this crowd.
