  1. From my standpoint, as I mentioned in my initial response to Bud, I think the CC Part II blog on CL should be removed. No, I won't continue to use it, because as I said in the apology post on CL, that would require me to create a short introduction to aid a reader in deciding to go to the blog or not. That starts to become work and more effort. Anyone that has signed up to receive CC blog post notifications on CC, receives an email with an introduction included. That is done by the WordPress software and takes no effort by me. People can then read it or not. In looking at the small number of posts I had placed on CL, I think the title pretty well indicated what many of the posts would contain. Anyone with much time on CC has a pretty good idea what they will find. Responding to Bonnie, thinking that having my posts contain a URL to my blog in any way affects the readership of this forum or any other forum is silly. My website is a blog and all discussion there is relative to a specific post. CL and Ning are social site forum based systems. Blogs don’t compete with social sites. They typically augment them. If they compete with anything it would be other blogs, but even then, most blogs are covering different items or the same items differently. To Ken and Becky on “Why not just post the content here?” Because the content is first placed on my blog and if I felt it relevant to CL readers, I posted the link here. In the past on Ning, I posted all Embassy related notices. I have had several times when the Embassy had to correct their message. All I did in those cases was to correct their message on CC. Not in multiple different places. However, since CL is not a commercial site contrary to Ning, there is no problem with anyone copying any CC post and posting it here. The Creative Commons license is listed at the top of the CC blog. For a non commercial site, it merely requires attribution and link to the source. http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/3.0/us/ In summary, I will quite using the Chiriqui Part II blog on CL. It might as well be removed. If I see a thread on CL that I think a particular post on Chiriqui Chitter has addressed, I will respond to that thread with the link to that post.
  2. I received a message from Bob, stating that several complaints had come in about my Chiriqui Life blog. The complaints were that the CL blog post only contained a title and a link to my primary blog. Bud offered a simple solution of adding a few more descriptive sentences to assist the CL readers in deciding to click the link or not. After giving this some thought, I have asked Bud to remove my blog from CL, I think the Blog section is really intended for those that don’t have content space on the Internet and i obviously do. Also, for me to add enough description to allow readers to decide to click or not click is too much like having to write a summary of the original post. My sincere apologizes to those that wasted time clicking on the URLs.
  3. I am not sure how the site software works, but I sometimes come and click on "New Content", like i just did and see only a couple posts. I look at the "Activity Stream" and see activity that was only 4 hours ago listed. I don't understand why some recent content isn't showing when I request "New Content". Is it because the site knows that I have seen all the previous content and then doesn't display it for me. If so, that is fine. However, if everyone is only seeing what I am seeing, then that doesn't seem correct. I have entered other times and content that I have read is still shown, but in a subdued color. Is it me or Memorex?
  4. Yes, I also feel that there should be punishment consistent with the crime. As I said, this is what the individual taking Deborah's statement told us.
  5. I guess I should have used the Quote function when replying to your comment instead of replying to the thread. I am still trying to understand this software too.
  6. JoJo, I didn't copy and paste, I used the Quote function under the comment I wanted to reply to.
  7. If you can include the part of the conversation you are responding to, as I am here, doesn't that maintain the integrity of your response. If the other person deletes his/her original comment is it deleted from your response. I had decided that might be an advantage of this forum's software that was not available on Ning. There obviously still be other flaws to my thinking I haven't considered. It just annoys me to look back at something I have written and seeing a mistake, that makes it difficult to understand my intended meaning, and I can't edit it. I do agree that the posts should not be deleted. I just want to be able to edit my posts.
  8. It is your site, but I disagree. When people are busy or short on time, it is easy to make mistakes or not say things clearly. I think you should be able to edit what you own and you own what you write.
  9. If that is an option that is available, I like Penny's suggestion. That is the same with FaceBook.
  10. In talking with the police, when Deborah gave her statement, we were told that14 year old was released to the father because the law would not allow him to be held. 15-17 can be held, I have no idea where or if they are. At the time of Deborah's statement a 17 year old was in custody. 18 is the age considered an adult. The lady taking Deborah's statement said the police were frustrated because their hands were tied because of the law.
  11. Maybe it is because I am in David, but I am rarely having problems with USTVNOW on KODI here. However, that being said, streaming media never consistent. I think a lot has to do with the source server that is being hit and how many users may be on it at the time. I usually use KODI for movies and TV series that are not currently on Amazon Prime. If Amazon Prime has it, then that is what I use. Even with Amazon Prime. I sometimes have buffering. Normally Amazon Prime is the best. When I had NetFlix, I used it as my primary source and KODI as the backup. I used KODI last night to watch CNBC for the debated, since I don't have CNBC on my cable. It only buffered two times during the whole debate. Last week Deborah wanted to watch the God Father, which is a 3 hour movie. We watched it on KODI with zero buffering. It did take me several minutes to find a good server on KODI, because the initial one didn't immediately start. Another night she wanted another ova on KODI and it played without buffering. On a third night we started a movie and gave up because it wanted to buffer all the time. That night nothing seemed to want to work well.
  12. I agree 100% with what Bonnie wrote. When the microphones are on, the cameras are flashing and the videos are running, you will hear a lot go promises. Until something is addressed that is targeted toward violent offenses by minors, then I have little hope for significant change. I saw nothing in the previous day's meeting with Varela that said anything about this problem. All I really saw addressed was more focus on drug trafficking. Now that the cameras are off, my fear is that things will continue on like it is until the next offense that draws a major public uprising. I think it would be a good idea for each individual living in Panama as a resident from a foreign country to write its Embassy and ask the Embassy to address the Violent Offense Problem by minors be raised as an issue of concern with their Panamanian counterparts.
  13. Come on Richard. You know the answer. One administration was getting kickback for the contract. The next administration stopped it.
  14. As far as I know they were declared illegal and nothing has been put in place to collect parking charges. I haven't gotten any tickets and I am putting no money in them.
  15. WOW. That is incredible. I live in David and my electric bill is always around $60 unless we have lots of guests. I also have a lot of things that use electricity. A pool, a huge refrigerator, lots of TVs and computers. Security system and security cameras. I agree, you have a problem that a good electrician needs to diagnose.

    Another Day At The Zoo

Another statement I ned to remember. I love it.
  17. You will really not know what you are getting into until you have lived through a minimum of three to four months in both the rainy and the dry season. That six to eight months will allow you to experience many of the cultural differences. Planing for healthcare incase of emergency should be on your planning list of things to check out.
  18. Yes, Ambassador Farrar was the best I have worked with.
  19. He has been nominated by President Obama, but I have not heard from the Embassy that one has appointed and on the way. I will email my contacts at the Embassy.

    Hint For New Fanatics

I may have to use that some day.
  21. By the way, I will go by and talk to the manager about not having a english speaking person on site. There has always been one there when I have been in.
  22. He has been gone for a long time now.I don't remember the date, but think it was before the end of 2014. I really liked him and his wife.
