  1. John, correct me if I'm wrong, were you not the one who found Marion shot, twice, by home invasion assailants? How on earth could you support gun ownership after you saw the heinous damage they cause? Your absurd reply to me contradicting my obvious abhorrence to expats importing guns was, "more people are killed in the US by hammers and clubs than by long guns", meant... what, exactly? In addition, you replied to my question to the legality of importation of guns was, " I believe". Why on earth would you bother making an uninformed comment if you are not sure?
  2. Just found this question posed on the Boquete Community FB group regarding the importation of guns to Panama...Can anyone chime in on the recent legalities of this? Ray Gano18 minsHey all - I recently saw an article on "How To Register A Gun in Panama" that had some good recent info in it. But now it seems that where ever I saw it, it disappeared. Does anyone have any up to date info on bringing guns into the country? The latest article I have found is from August titled " Panama Lifts Ban on Gun Imports amid Rising Crime Wave" -- If you have any info, please let me know -- PM is you like.
  3. New forum, new day. Now's everyone's chance to think before posting personal opinions, representing everyone's. I am not disheartened, and I do care about who is butchering Ning, and for what ulterior motive. Lee and I were friends for over six years, and I feel it a personal obligation to out these cowardly bastards who are taking advantage of the exceptional site he created.
  4. Since I've been banned and blocked, I use another browser to check up on the new "awesome" ning. Absolutely mind numbing how the new owners have so quickly destroyed what was once an extremely successful, informative site. I wonder how long the original advertisers will remain, as the new members do not even live in Panama to support these businesses. It will be interesting to see how long Boquete Ning will survive. How I miss Lee... Chiriqui Life, Chiriqui Chatter, and the Facebook group, Boquete News will be the only sources to get truthful, informative guidance on daily living here. The other newly created Boquete sites by people who have lived here for a couple of months are truly a joke.
  5. Don, I was correct, after five minutes the word, edit, disappears. By the way, happy birthday!
  6. Under your posted comment. It appears next to the word, "quote". I guess it disappears after the five minute grace period.
  7. Don, you only have five minutes to edit your post. Unable to delete it... Hope the admin will change this.
  8. Apparently it is up to the individual judge to determine which juveniles are sentenced to serve jail time. That is if the prosecutors send them to trial. There is a case in Panama where a ten year old boy was charged for murder and is currently serving a five year sentence, which is the maximum. As disappointing as this may be, this is the how the judicial system works here.
  9. Wry, try the "more" menu next to "new content". Select "activity stream".

  11. Trump’s son Eric dismissed any allegations of mismanagement out of hand, saying the project is “an amazing icon and, frankly, a great testament to America.” http://gawker.com/trump-fired-as-panama-city-building-manager-over-accusa-1735952612?utm_campaign=socialflow_gawker_facebook&utm_source=gawker_facebook&utm_medium=socialflow
  12. In my last comment I wanted to add my actual comment to Price Peterson, "How can Athena be expected to legislate with Panamanian government officials?' I now understand that we've got five minutes to edit our comments. Now to understand how to take the high-light off of a cut and paste comment, et al...
  13. Please explain how once we have entered a comment, we can go back and edit it. Thanks very much.
  14. Price, I would appreciate you re-reading my comment, and amend yours. You have quoted me as saying this, "Chica de Chiriqui asked how Athena Atenasiades can pretend to change the law regarding minors." . You will notice that I did not use the word pretend. Thanks
  15. I truly understand all good intentions... What did this meeting do to accomplish something? How can Athena be expected to legislate with Panamanian government officials? Violent, gang related crimes are consuming the expat community. Unfortunately, the governmental laws will not be changed by those of us who care concerning juvenile detention. The police caught the kids who tried to kill Marion, they were set free. Until there is a change of law, the gang mentality will continue. PS, I truly wish it would be made loud and clear that the more people who want to move here are only adding to the cause of more violent crime to expats being targets.
  16. No one has mentioned this yet, but it is extremely important for the investigators to pressure these youngsters who have confessed to Marion's assault to disclose the names of the gang leaders.
