Uncle Doug Posted January 27, 2018 Share Posted January 27, 2018 I'm probably being too picky here, but tax avoidance is perfectly legal and almost everyone engages in it to keep their lawful taxes as low as possible. I think it's translation issue or just sloppy use of language. Everyone "avoids" paying sales tax whenever they choose not to buy a particular item, for example. Uncle Doug Posted February 19, 2018 Share Posted February 19, 2018 Yeah, this tax treaty is about using foreign bank accounts to hide taxable income, which is classic tax evasion.
