NewsLady
To the wonderful Boquete Community: The number of needy and handicapped families that Buenos Vecinos feeds monthly has grown immensely over the past couple of years while their funding has remained fairly stagnant. They never before have had to make this kind of a general plea for funding. Here are some facts supplied by co-chairman Gail Cody: A Coconut member pays $360 a year to support a client/family, some do it monthly payments of $30. We have lost 20 Coconut members this last year alone due to people moving mostly. The monthly cost to feed 120 clients averages $3800 in nonperishable food bought in bulk Client numbers have increased from 25 to 120 in 7 years NO administrative costs etc, all $$ to food. You can pay by paypal by checking our website, or contact Gail Cody gailcody@hotmail.com 6676-9136 or Molly Traynor mollyctraynor@gmail.com 6742-4872 Co-chair Louise Orr on vacation until Dec 1. web site buenosvecinosdeboquete.com Thank you for reading, Penny Barrett (concerned Boquete resident)

Also, as the handicap foundation expands its outreach, it is offering services to more and more handicapped people (or families with a handicapped child). Many of the handicap families receive the Buenos Vecinos food packages. A normal monthly allotment is packed into 4 plastic bags which contain rice, enriched rice, oil, beans, sardines, sugar, powdered milk, and other dry food supplies.
