Is there someone who lives near Wilson Bridge who'd be willing to do a quick welfare check for me? I'm not ready to call the police but I am worried enough to post here if someone is in that area. Message me please

Thanks! Didn't have his email. We'll try that this morning.

We've been trying to reach Christian for a few weeks now and our calls go right to voicemail and no return call. Usually he's Johnny on the spot. Has anyone used him lately? Baring that, recommendations for another exterminator would be helpful.

I don't have a ning membership any longer so thought it would be helpful to post this here and remind folks to be very careful about virtual notarizations. I noticed on ning that Olga has offered to notarize a document for someone while she is in Florida and the individual in Boquete. She claims that " There are ways of doing that in today's technology times." Some states do allow virtual notarization (not Florida) however, many organizations will not accept them even if from a state where they are allowed. Best to check in advance to see if a virtual notarization, from a state in which they are allowed, will be accepted.
Directly from Florida's Dept of State:
May I notarize a signature without the person being present if another person swears that the person signed the document?
No! The Notary Section receives frequent inquiries about "notarizing a person's signature by subscribing witness." Evidently, some notaries believe that it is permissible to notarize a signature when the person is not present if someone who witnessed the signing of the document appears before the notary and swears that the person actually signed the document. Some states, like California, do, in fact, allow such notarizations, but Florida does not. Misunderstanding may also stem from a section in Florida law that provides a method by which instruments concerning real property may be entitled to recording in Florida when the document signer cannot appear before a notary to acknowledge his or her signature. You may hear this procedure referred to as "proof of execution by subscribing witness."
Not only is a Florida notary not permitted to notarize virtually, they are also not permitted to notarize any document while outside the state of Florida. This is pretty much standard for all notaries in all states, with a few exceptions.

Not only have we used Luis several times with the utmost satisfaction, we have even left several suitcases with him to drop off at Fletes after he took us to the airport. Honest and reliable.

Artifacts! I used ancient and ruins probably because that's the way I feel today... Thanks!!

I remember reading about an ancient site somewhere around here. All I remember was that there were old pots unearthed, maybe ruins or something. I think it may have been on private land. For the life of me I can't recall any more. Help!

Expats may find those directions peculiar, but couriers and delivery people can sort them out.
When I lived in Africa, with no addresses, directions were a description of miles of dirt road and paths through the bush. This is waaay better

The addresses are not good here.
Haha, don't I know it. My address is a long paragraph of turn directions and house colors!

I have used DHL in David two times. Once for Miami and once for Austin,Tx. Both times the package arrived within 24hrs. They tell you within two days but usually a package makes it there within 24 hrs. My packages always left david the same day and usually on the first available flight out of Panama. I don't know about the overnight shipping. Good tracking on the computer also.
Hil, Have you ever received? Or just sent?
-
I've never needed this before but need to receive from the States and return via overnight mail. Can this be done reliably? Who? How?

Does anyone know Carlos and have recent contact info for him? The phone number I have is not working. His wife is a school teacher and I thought we had her email, but can't find it.

I'm wondering if someone can confirm how to count the 10 days on the health certificate when importing pets to Panama. If I receive the certificate on the 1st, the animal has to arrive in Panama by the 11th, right? Or does the 1st count as the first day and the pet needs to arrive by the 10th.
Also, if you've gone through this process, how many days did it take to get the paperwork back from the USDA, et al. If I have to do this over memorial day weekend and lose a business day, am I screwed?
Thanks in advance for the help.

I have brought in laptops and DVD players with no issue. Probably best to take it out of the box so it doesn't look brand new.
Good thinking about the box. Everything I read says they should be able to get it in but I rememnber something about someone having an issue. Maybe it was quantity.

I thought I read, or heard, that someone bringing some kind of electronics through Tocuman had it confiscated. I'm interested in having someone bring a camera survelance system to us from the States but wondering if it is allowed. Does anyone have this information or an idea of where I can go to get it?

It wasn't "all that trouble." We were at San Francisco, stopped in on the off chance there was a veggie knoedel or something, but no luck. No big deal.

No need to be sorry, I didn't say it was a bad experience, never said no one should eat pig, was never negative about all Germans (note the word stereotypically.) And I clearly did say I asked about vegetarian. As Cloudless would say...relaaaaax.
I was born in Stuttgart and have spent lots of time there throughout my years. But man I get tired of eating spaetzle and salad.
-
I went in there once and asked if they had any vegetarian options. Without ever looking up, a gentleman (the only person in the place) sitting at a table answered with a German accent "Of course" which I found surprising in light of the Germans penchant for eating pigs. But we sat down anyway, perused the menu and left after finding no vegetarian items on the menu. The guy didn't say a word and never even looked up. It was just a very stereotypically German encounter, which probably means the food is very good.

I know somebody who has a large pool. They have solar heating, but when there's not enough sun to do the job, it costs them about $900/month to heat the pool. They don't use it much during that time.
OMG! That must be some large pool!
-
Thanks Bud. I'm guessing my kitchen propane tank would limit me to a kiddie pool. I wonder if one could heat a pool with a small wind turbine... Hmm
-
I'm asking if anyone has had a swimming pool built in the Boquete area, not David, and if I could get an idea of how much your electric bill increased by heating it. I REALLY want a pool, but the budget...that darn budget!
