"Most companies would not have diversity quotas....."

All corporations in the US have diversity quotas.

    "..... an affirmative action requirement."

Affirmative action is required in all US corporations.

The problem arises when there are numerous personnel changes and the employee demographics no longer meet the quota requirement.

You clearly don't understand affirmative action. Quotas are explicitly forbidden in the regulation.

The article below distinguishes the groper as Iranian Origins and American Nationality. Technically he is Iranian and this is not spinnable. Place of Birth.

Disagree. Place of birth does not necessarily determine origin. I was born in Germany, left when I was two and lived in Africa for the next 14 years. I am however, an American of US Nationality.

    Keith,

So an Iranian-American?  It's significant if the individual is a Muslim who feels entitled to practice Sharia law.  It would certainly explain his actions.  Of course the incident could be alcohol related or both.

I didn't know that pinching my butt had to do with Sharia law. But let me tell you this, the only hyphonated Americans I've been groped by are the Arrogant-Drunk-White-Man-Oversixty ones.

  4. We bank with Charles Schwab in the US. They refund all our foreign ATM fees once a month. When we bought a car here, we simply called and asked for a one time exemption on the daily limit. The banker stayed on the phone with us while we withdrew the money to be sure we had no issues. You do need a US address in order to bank with Schwab. We've been here 7 years and have never found the need to have a Panama bank.

  5. This urban legend has been floating around the internet for years without substantiation. Unless someone knows this has actually happened, this "warning" is about as helpful as warning you that someone may throw dog crap at your windshield. You'll also find Utube videos trying to replicate the "egg and water, when they join, form a viscous substance like milk that will prevent you from seeing where you are going, blocking your vision as much as 90%" scenario without success.

Please steal her. I know that's not legal, but so what.

I will Judy, as soon as I have a place for her to go. I stole/borrowed her to take her to the spay clinic and boy we're they pissed when I brought her back! Ha, too bad. I'm sure as legalities go, my taking her is no worse than them starving her, so...

  7. Thank you Dottie. And we have spoken with the owners, but they are awful people and, until I can get the dog away from them, I don't want to go any further for fear they will mistreat her more. They have no fear of the law as they are in jail regularly. After I have her safely away, believe me, I will file and I have many pictures and witnesses!

  8. I'm dealing with a very similar situation with a very similar looking dog, Dottie. She's as sweet as can be after being neglected by our neighbor. And after 3 litters, we finally have her spayed. We feed her daily and are trying to find her a new home. In the mean time, she still lives with the bastards who tied her up and starved her.

We never stated that we would not visit any restaurants because they have a no pet policy. Nor did we state we are boycotting SH or that we will never return.

This is all we simply stated.  They lost 6 customers yesterday. Not forever. We do not get angry over a policy that is recently implemented. We were disappointed. Your comments are taking out of context.

Ah, my mistake. I took "lost 6 customers" as meaning you wouldn't return.

    • Thanks 1
  10. I don't think it's about that particular circumstance or they wouldn't have said they'll never return. It sounds as if they're angry about the new policy. It's their choice to make, as Keith said, but I wonder if they also stay away from other restaurants that don't allow dogs. My guess is that the Sailors do frequent those restaurants, so I don't get why they would choose to stay away from SG's when doggie is at home.

  11. I'm surprised that someone would refuse to visit a restaurant because they have a no pet policy. That really must restrict your choices for eating out! I'm not sure if you're angry because they changed the policy or if you just don't ever eat out without your dogs, but I do think the new owner has the right to change to a policy, which most restaurants have, without being boycotted.

That being said, I used to love the felafel sandwich at Senior Gyro, but when I went a few weeks ago, it was awful. It was filled with giant chunks of tomato, the bread was soaked and turned to mush and the felafel disintegrated. I'm not sure what the difference was to make it so bad, perhaps the amount of tomato, which far outweighed the felafel. I'll give it another try some time to be sure it wasn't an anomaly.

Sounds like a lot of duplication with what is already offered here in Boquete.

Who cares? In the States if you want to sell your car you can post it in your local newspaper, on Craigslist, auto trader, cars.com, and any number of other places. And if you want to know what's happening in your area you check Facebook, your local newspaper, listen to the radio or whatever else. In my opinion, if All About Boquete continues pushing their site the way they have been, more people will go in that direction. Right now they appear to be very busy getting visibility. Honestly, if I were going to rent my house today, I'd post it there.

Strobe lights and loud music? Thanks for the warning. I will certainly avoid this place.

It's unfortunate. But the food is really good and if you can get one of the outside tables it's great. They also package food to go. The music was loud but not of a particularly annoying genre, in my opinion. I just don't get the lights.

  14. I stopped by Pokotitos at San Francisco plaza tonight for a quick dinner on my own. Here are my observations.

    Why I would go back:
    Vegetarian options, yaay!
    Very friendly!
    Great food!
    Good pricing!

    What I didn't like:
    Strobe lights 1f641.png:(
    Loud music 1f641.png:(

Conclusion: I like this place. I ordered vegetarian spaghetti, two glasses of wine and a brownie with ice cream for $16. I also got a small bowl of delicious steamed potatoes before my meal. I didn't order them and saw them being delivered to each table, so maybe it's a thing. There are two outside tables which will save you from the loud music and strobe lights. It's close to my house, affordable and has plenty of vegetarian options. I will definitely go again.

For my own reason, I do not eat at The Garden so it's nice to have an alternative in the plaza.
