I finally figured out the Ignore Feature on Chiriqui Life. It will be usefull.  You can click on your name top right of screen, drop down menu and ignored users if you are bothered or badgered by others desparaging remarks. The owner/administrater can take care of the more offensive sarcasim. Great site Bud. And the ignore feature prevents censoring anyone---- I NOW DO NOT HAVE TO READ THESE DESPARING REMARKS ANYMORE.

I ask the question to AMERICANS that use the American Embassy. I sent a message to the proper authorities and no response. Do any Americans have any answers?

Has anyone recieved their 2020 Proof Of Life Form?

If not, what are we supposed to do?

Boquete is listed as "GAP" in English. This has Always been the translation for Boquete.

Global Bank has a small fee, 10.70 (senior discount) for foriegn check and non jubilado it is 21.40.. I do not have a problem with that. And my U.S. bank account shows the transanction in three days. My U.S. money is released by Global Bank 21 days later. People need to remember where they are. You'll get use to it. $10.70 is much better than using the ATM at 5.25 a pop. Foriegn cards used in the ATM's are now limited to $250.00. One guy wanted argue with me about this the other day. I had just left the bank with $500 taken out. He said I have a Panamanian (Scotia Bank) account and all I can get is $250. I asked which bank and he said Scotia in Canada. I tried to explain the Scotia Bank here is not reconized as being associated Scotia Banks elsewhere . In other words, his Scotia Account in Canada has the $250 ATM limit here in Panama. He still didn't believe it. Oh well..........

We happened to be back in the U.S.  when the Covid lockdown began, and at this point won’t be able to get back down there until Christmas time.  Wendy has run out of her prescription inhaler and we are trying to find someone who could carry her refill(s) back to the States and then ship them to us upon arrival.  I know that’s a lot to ask of someone, but that’s what we need.  We, of course, are ready to pay any shipping charges, and have the refills, just needing a willing party to carry them back.

 

Do you know anyone headed this way that could help?

My wife gets them at the clinic in boquete. She gets them free. But, you can Probably buy them there. She gets two--one for her asthma and one for me.

FOR ALL ELECTIONS IN FLORIDA. Request to your supervisor of elections for overseas ballot by EMAIL. One short form to fill out and return by email for request of overseas ballot. They will then send you the ballot by EMAIL. Fill out ballot and sign verification form and FAX both the Ballot and verification form back to the supervisor of election to YOUR county of residence.

I just got mine by email today and will fax back to them tomorrow. YOU CAN NOT (snail mail)MAIL IN AN OVER SEAS BALLOT IF YOU GOT IT THROUGH EMAIL.

Note: In Florida if you request an overseas ballot and are approved you are good for two years. In other words, they will automatically send your ballot to you for all elections for two years.

My step son, Gerarado Guerra, has opened a new produce store near the Terpel Station. Coming into Boquete from David go past the Terpel and take the next right. It is the first container on your left. He is the owner of Cloud Forest Travels and has been in business for many years. He was the owner of the original Sandwhich Factory and closed because his chef was hit by a car and died. Gerardo's father has been in the Produce business for over 40 yrs and provides fresh products daily. Gerardo and Jorge are fluent in English. The store is very clean and produce is fresh daily. HUGE parking lot is so nice. Plenty of room to dodge accidents!!! Very reasonable prices. All panamanian prices. If ya can't stop Wave!

there is no argument.

The speed is the same on regular cable or fiber when it leaves the distribution center. All fiber does is provide more Band Width and stable speed. Fiber gives the opportunity for more customers on the line with less lag/buffer time. Certainly more stable also. One problem with fiber, when the glass is broken it takes a long time to repair. Copper can be repaired in a few minutes. Also, most companies DO NOT run fiber into the house or structure. So, you will have copper in the house in most cases. More up to date countries are running fiber into houses but it is not necessarry. The short runs of copper in a house or structure will likely not effect speed or band width. Distance and resistance on copper is critical. So, short runs are not effected. Cat5 and Cat6 in house copper wiring has a limit of 5000-6000 ft with out the need for a repeater/booster. Fiber/Glass wire has little to no resistance but does have band width for more customers. All cables are Bi-Directional (trans/recieve). In a house you Always recieve more than you transmit. This shows up on speed test as download speed and upload speed. Down load is always the faster. The speed is determined in the equipment room and not determine by the cable. You get what you pay for in other words.

Global  Bank has never limited my withdrawls. My bank in the U.S. limits me to ONE withdrawl per 24 hrs with USA debit card and a fee is charged. If I use my USA debit card it WILL NOT give me my $500 limit because of the transaction fee puts me over my limit. Now that is just crazy. So, I withdraw less... I hardly EVER use my USA. I just drop an american check in my Global Bank account once a month.
