From the Rodny Direct notice: " Rodny is not authorized to publish the Mae Lewis price list . . . ."

I seriously doubt--and I'm sure Mark will correct me if I'm wrong--that a telephone call to determine the cost of a hospital service would constitute a "consultation." If I correctly understand the roles of Irma and Gloria, it is to serve as facilitators or mediators with the hospital/doctors if needed.

Phone numbers, as published in the RD notice:

    Irma Castillo Smith: 6716-2843

    Gloria Martinez: 730-5263 or 730-5960

As I recall, Irma does not speak English. Does Gloria? Or does one consult with them via Rodny?

Perhaps Mark or Rodny can tell us the qualifications of Irma and Gloria to serve in this capacity.

    Irma speaks fluent english.

  2. I don't understand people NOT WANTING to assimilated with these people and their culture. What were they thinking when they moved here? Parking isn't a problem for the Panamanians nor for me-----I adjusted for the parking and find a place and walk if necessary that way my lazy A$$ can get some exercise. Just look at how the panamanians use space in a house, store, or hotel. And, yes the parking spaces are smaller and limited. Solution, get a smaller car. What would be a nightmare is; if the majority of Panamanians were driving. Luckily only about 50% of the adults drive. Happiness comes from a roof, warm bed, food, clothing, a couple of dollars, and understanding YOU are happy whereever you take yourself.

Keith, it is very common in the States and Canada.   There are several different companies who "monopolize" this industry.  I cannot truthfully say that I know that all microchips are "cross referenced" from one company to another - which in my opinion it should be.....that is really the only way to make this idea effective.

I live part time in the Cayman Islands, and the microchip my dogs have are based in Canada.  Like all technology today, it doesn't really matter where you are, as long as you have an effective system.

Panama, as far as I am aware, and anyone with more knowledge please correct me, does not have a viable microchip system in place.

Would that be competition instead of monopoly?

    100% hospital

    100% surgery

    100% anestesia

$1000 year for ambulance $100 per event

    $100 copay hospital

    $200 copay Punta Pacifica

    30% copay xrays

    $500,000.00 year coverage

    Transplants max $250,000.00

    Yearly deductible $350

$5000 max on pharmacy or medicines

vaccinations are listed seperately but cheap

    And $20,000.00 death policy included

    $247.00 month

As I stated it's for all of central america not Mexico.

There are other small benifits but I'm too lazy to type them.

    Contact Pan Am.

My GF has the Same Benifits with the same company for Panama only because she is under 65 and $101 monthly.

Different strokes for different folks. I have more coverage than i need in the usa with medicare and 100 disable vet coverage. I just want to cover my ass while in central america. With coverage with Punta Pacifica I doubt I would travel to the US for any treatment. Besides, I was paying $500 monthly for BCBS with less coverage actually. Punta Pacifica is the way to go with serious problems. David hospitals could hopefully stabalize until transfer to Panama City.

If you're are under 65 you can save probably minimum $150 a month for good insurance with this company.

  5. Pan American Life in David is an american owned health provider. They are out of new orleans. They have been doing business in central and south america for over 20yrs. I have two plans. Mine is as good if not better than BCBS at half the price for a single person in the USA and it covers all of "central  america" not including Mexico. Her Plan is the extact same as mine for Panama only for $101 a month. I couldn't get the Panama Only Plan because of my age, over 65, but it is affordable and a good policy. But they did include Panama in the central american plan. It's all about the money. They require a physical and blood work from Mae Lewis or Hospital Chiriqui. Ironically it pays more when reimbursing for Mae Lewis than Hospital Chiriqui. Hospital Chiriqui is considered "preferred" because of staff and equipment. Ironically, the same doctors work both hospitals I've been told. The equipment must be different to a degree hence the higher price for Hospital Chirqui. Once again, it's about the money. Also, it's about what you can afford. I am covered with Pan Am at one of the best hospitals in the world, Punta Pacifica Hospital, Panama City, Panama (John Hopkins Hospital). If you want to know the price of my coverage message me. If you want details for different plans visit them in the strip mall on the left after crossing the over pass in David. You'll need spanish skills or someone with spanish skills with you. My broker speaks perfect English and helped me at times in the Pan Am office. If you want the brokers name and number message me. He can get you quotes from several companies pretty quick by email.

    A personal message for Hil.

So very disappointed with your decision to remove your blog data on the Isla Boca Brava.

I am always eager to learn of new developments here in Panama and I so enjoyed your pictures regarding this project. I understand your intention was to share information about this development. And it is interesting material.

Please reconsider and keep us informed as this beautiful undertaking goes forward.

    Marcelyn

    Marcelyn,

I will post details of progress as they unfold. PICS only. I will not post the URL again. I was NOT advertising. I'm a friend of the developer. Not an agent. If someone on this site feels the need to help the developer with new ideas or get into sales--he is always open to suggestions. All the information anyone needs is on the huge BillBoard on the way to David before you reach Dolega on the right hand side of the highway before the Terpel.

  7. It's been a year now since my policy went bad with them. I haven't gotten my refund yet and I was promised one.  I bought it through a local broker and they give me the same run around every time I email them. The broker has NOT made an effort to contact the government angency that took over this company and get refunds for the customers. Another typical----you lost it here so what!!!

Unless the item is listed in the law, there is no discount on it no matter how many pensionado card you present or how many managers you speak to.

This is simple. Now, as a voluntary courtesy, several of the grocery stores offer a 10% discount to pensionados the day the social security checks arrive. This is a promotional effort on their part and doesn't have anything to do with the law.

I'm thinking I got 5% on check day for groceries at Romeros. Could be wrong I didn't save my reciept. I do remember telling my woman that I saved 20 cents!!!!! lolololol
