This is simple. Now, as a voluntary courtesy, several of the grocery stores offer a 10% discount to pensionados the day the social security checks arrive. This is a promotional effort on their part and doesn't have anything to do with the law.

I did blow it off. Although I did mention the regulatory entity. I understand a lot of places don't play by the rules. The money didn't matter.

The items were personal ( I have a copy of the list in my wallet and use it regularly) and I will not share the items in this forum. As I said all along the Manager said the item was correct but he would NOT honor my carnet because the word "jubilado" was NOT on the card. I do not understand it so I can NOT explain it.

Here is some good that came out of this. I walked right back up the hill to Reyna (were my car was parked )and got both items for half the price Mandarin was asking WITHOUT the discount. So, I didn't even ask for the discount. Amazing.

The items I wanted to purchase are sold in the hardware department and as I said in the original post the item never was in question. They are not limited on what the sell in the back to "hardware" it is just a location.

Maybe I should have been more precise. His exact words to me and he pointed to the card:

"The word "Jubilado" is not on your pensionado carnet and I will not give you a discount."

So, end of story. It never was about the item in the first place. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

This the second time this happened. In the back hardware department. No questions on item to be discounted. He would not honor the card period. I told him I would report it in David to Aedeco. He laughed at me.

Finally, power restored at 11am. Possum blew the fuse on transormer around 12-1am this morning. Only took them 10 hours to reset it (fuse). lol Took out the entire neighborhood!!!

Alto Dorado section off of main road west side. Still out.

I got up at 1:30 and no power and went back to bed and slept until 5:30.. It's now, 6:09 and no power in Alto Boquete. Oh well. My PC battery says 4 more hours and I link my PC to my phone. Works good for me. I might give up paying Cabla Onda for internet.

I was wrong Again!!! My computer was on Eastern Time and not on Columbia Time. Eastern Time in the USA is the same as Panama Time but not the same as Columbia Time. It did correct the time on the post when I changed it to Bogota Time.

I just figured it out. The Calender event has the wrong times and it shows up in Activity.

The times on this link are typed in the header.  My time zone is correct on my PC.

I'm not sure but this looks like a manual entry. I checked and the correct dates are listed on the other link you posted within the Embassy text and not in the header----10am-3pm.

Just curious if anyone else is seeing the 11am-4pm in this link. You have two links posted for the Embassy visit.

Just use the DHL office for pickup and they won't have to look for your house. The addresses are not good here. Tell them to call you from the David DHL office.

both directions from miami. if i remember right returning was the same or might have been quicker.

I have used DHL in David two times. Once for Miami and once for Austin,Tx. Both times the package arrived within 24hrs. They tell you within two days but usually a package makes it there within 24 hrs. My packages always left david the same day and usually on the first available flight out of Panama. I don't know about the overnight shipping. Good tracking on the computer  also.

Where did they send the ones that couldn't fly today? My guess, back to Gualaca or a hotel in David. Who knows.

It looked like maybe 250-300 people at the immigration doors noon today, Sunday. Two huge bus loads. Maybe there on the way to the airport now. The office was open and processing people. Probably the Cubanos from Gualaca. Just a guess, who knows. Chiriqui news will talk later I'm sure. TVN later.

Magic Jack is great for the price. There are a few others that work (the free ones) but not as good as Magic Jack. Never a problem with mine for two years. I use mine for talking with the Veterans Office and Social Security and don't need dropped calls. Never had a dropped call with Magic Jack. The vote is out on shipping---it's a gamble---not a problem with the shippers or packers---its Customs in Panama that is the problem most of the time. And, Magic Jack works on my tablet and cell as well a my computer.
