  1. Just what the title says: Large Black Sofa for sale. Asking $100 The sofa is in decent condition. Some repairs have been made with duct tape... but the main two large cushions have been reupholstered with heavy/soft black fabric. This sofa is super comfortable! If I had more space, I would be keeping it... but alas, it must go... Come to the BCP during Fénix Cafe operating hours. Bring $100. And it is yours to take! First to come, first to own...
  2. After much evaluation (and a few tears) I have come to the decision to close the Fénix Cafe. The cafe will be operating and slowly winding down through the month of September. Previously scheduled events (including Mexican Train groups, Drum Circle, Belly Dance classes, etc) will continue throughout the month. I am deeply appreciative of the opportunity I have had to develop the Fénix. Not only were many invaluable lessons learned, but more so, authentic connections were made that go beyond the six walls of the Hex Room… relationships that will continue to grow and evolve. I am thrilled with all that has transpired, even if it was for a ‘brief flash' of 4 months. It was this time that has given me a chance to evaluate the cafe as a business, and also my own work-life balance. As much as the cafe has been a Labor of Love… I very much look forward to once again having the time and space to focus on other passions, in particular Yoga, Massage, and Graphic Design. Sometimes it takes a new lens to bring other realizations into focus. ;-) Yoga Boquete will continue to hold classes on its regular schedule in the BCP Hex Room, until further notice. I do not know what the BCP’s plans are for the space, but I hope it continues to develop into a shared community space. A big THANK YOU to all who have supported this endeavor. Remember, this is not goodbye… this a just another transformation … (That’s the nature of a Fénix , after all.) Much Love to All, Joy
  3. As the owner of the Fénix Cafe, I think it is important to note that any and all donations go 100% to the Film Club. The Fénix does not receive a percentage of the donations. All revenue for the Fénix is generated through food and drink sales. Some, come on down -- watch a great film, and enjoy a meal and tasty beverage. ;-) Joy

The same sequence is repeated each class, building strength, flexibility and focus… so that eventually your practice becomes a powerful moving meditation. 13. Hola All, I manage a property here in town. Recently the property's fabulous cleaning woman retired, and I am looking for a replacement. This is not a set schedule, but rather cleaning either the upper unit or lower unit in between guest check-ins. Any and all suggestions appreciated! gracias, Joy
  14. I just had to chime in regarding refunds, as I had a recent experince at the department store here in Boquete. I was making a purchase for someone else (read: this was not my money) -- so I was very clear in asking about the return/refund policy before purchasing the items. I was told very clearly (I understand and speak Spanish) that I could return the items for either credit or cash (effectivo), depending how it was purchased. I used cash. After finding out that the items were not going to fit the needs required, I brought them back to the store less than one week later. I was then told that it would be "credit" only, which would have been fine -- but, again, this was not my own money, and there was nothing else needed at the store. I explained that before making a decision, I would need to speak with the person whom I was representing in order to get her instruction on preference (keep the items or get credit)… and asked how much time I had to be eligible to bring the items back with the original receipt. I was then told TODAY only, and that after that they would not honor the refund policy. This, of course, made no sense… as it had only been a few days since the original purchase. blah, blah, blah… rest of the story unfolds. Bottom line: I will not purchase anything else from this department store in the future. And, sadly, I doubt I would have been treated this way if I weren't a 'gringa'. Things like this do happen. I just wish it weren't so. I understand rules, laws and policies. What I don't understand how being 'lied to' is acceptable or defendable. Peace.

GENTLE HATHA YOGA Thursday & Saturday 9:00 am – 10:00 am, $6.00 A Hatha Yoga class that is relatively gentle, slow and great for beginners or students who prefer a more relaxed style where poses are held a bit longer. As this class develops it is able to be custom-tailored to the group’s needs in the spirit of traditional yoga where asanas (poses) were ‘prescribed’ for various conditions (ie, back pain, tight shoulders, and a multitude of other aliments / afflictions.) … Hence, the more you attend practice — and provide feedback — the more supportive and deep the practice will become! ASHTANGA SHORT FORM Monday, Wednesday, Friday 9:00 am – 10:00 am, $6.00 This is an active 60 minute class, structured on the main poses from Primary Series (see full description on website.) Focus is on the breath. Poses are held for five breaths and are interconnected with flowing movements. The same sequence is repeated each class, building strength, flexibility and focus… so that eventually your practice becomes a powerful moving meditation! This class is open to beginners, but is not a “gentle” type of yoga. The beauty of Ashtanga is that there is always “room to grow”… there is no need to be intimidated, and there is no competition. You may find you choose to rest during some poses, and modifications are encouraged when needed. For more information, visit: www.yoga-boquete.com
