    A large group of participants from the International Choir Festival held in Panama City, are coming to Boquete to begin the 2020 musical season of the Boquete Library.   4. Polish concert pianist, piano teacher and music presenter. Katarina Peers studied at the College of Music in Bielsko-Biala and at the University of Music in Warsaw. She graduated with a Master of Arts Degree in Art and Music. Her career began by teaching at the College of Music in Warsaw for 3 years. She then worked at the National Philharmonic in Warsaw as pianist, music presenter and creator of concert programmes for youth, performing throughout Poland for several years. She also cooperated with the Warsaw Music Society and the State Concert Biuro. Come meet Katarina and enjoy a lovely piano recital.     The October musical event at the Boquete Library offers a dual presentation. The first portion is provided by the string group of the Mario de Obaldía Alvarado orchestra, directed by the talented and renowned professor Xiomara González. This group will present to us a varied repertoire that includes, among others, the Brandenburg Concertos and Suite Latinoamericana. The second group, known as Trío Monet, comes to us from Costa Rica. Performing on the oboe, horn and piano, they will offer a variety of music, including works by Astor Piazzola, Carlos Gardel and more.   9. In charge of two professors with several decades of research, Michael L. Conniff and Gene E. Bigler, Modern Panama: From occupied territory to the center of the Americas, it focuses on the fast-paced Panamanian history since the Torrijos-Carter Treaties entered into force in 1979. Just published by the City of Knowledge and the Novo Art Editor, this work, translated into Spanish by Adrienne Samos and extended by Guillermo Castro, will be presented at the Boquete Library on Sunday, August 18, 2019, at 4:00 pm. The authors will be present to talk with the public and sign their books. ‘Who wants to know our recent past ... you will find in this book almost anything you should know.     The Camerata Alfredo De Saint Malo brings together, professional musicians, national and international, as well as advanced students, to study the vast existing repertoire for chamber orchestra, in order to bring concerts of this musical genre to the public. The members of the Camerata, meticulously chosen, are characterized by being cheerful, accessible and with great charisma to live with the communities that receive them. They are also characterized by including leaders of the main orchestras of the Americas and the old world, including the National Symphony Orchestra of Bogotá, OSN of Costa Rica, OSN of Mexico, OSN of Panama, OSN of Dominican Republic, OSN of Montevideo, Philharmonic of Buenos Aires, Bremer Philharmonic, Cordoba Symphony Orchestra, among others.     Two virtuosos of the guitar at Boquete Library Make a space in your calendar because this Saturday, July 7th the library will be host of a unique presentation from the 16th International Guitar Festival of Panama. This Festival is organized by the talented Panamanian musician Emiliano Pardo Tristán, who delighted our ears at the last concert. This time we will be visited by two young virtuosos, participants of the festival: Marco Corrales from Costa Rica and Jesús Serrano from Mexico. The first of our guests was the winner of the International Guitar Contest of Panama and since 2016 he started recording his album: “A century of Costa Rican Guitar” that mixes eleven songs and immortalizes the musical culture of Costa Rica. The second, winner of around 50 awards in America and Europe, is known as “the devil of the guitar” and stands out for his refined presentations full of energy. Prepare yourself for a concert of vibrant melodies through the guitar: a classical instrument that reinvents itself day by day. Enjoy this musical journey with international quality musicians.     The teacher Emiliano Pardo Tristán and Diana Durán will be in charge of our next musical event. With the talent on guitar combined with a wonderful soprano voice, they will give us a tour through half a millennium of music, through songs and dances from different eras. 500 Years of singing and guitar, is the theme of the recital scheduled for all of you this Saturday, June 15th, 2019, at 5:00 p.m., at Boquete Library.     The Baylor Woodwind Quintet, founded in 1972, is conformed by faculty members residing at the School of Music at Baylor University in Waco, TX. For many years, the quintet was the core of the Baylor chamber players (a flexible group formed by duos through larger ensembles that also included percussion and saxophone). Woodwind Quintet received three scholarships from 1979 to 1983 to study chamber music in Vermont with the famous flutist and chamber music coach at the Conservatoire of Paris, the late Marcel Moyse. In 1984, the National Flute Association selected the quintet to release its commissioned piece, the Wind Quintet Concert by Richard Rodney Bennett, at the annual convention in Chicago. The quintet has also been invited to perform recitals at the NFA conventions in Kansas City in 1994 and in Phoenix in 1998. We wait for you.     For this month of May we have the presentation of the Juvenile Camerata Essy Casal, directed by Professor Victor Mata. This group of young talented children, is part of one of the projects of the Sinfonia Concertante Foundation of Panama, founded in 2008 by the Panamanian cellist Isaac Casal along with other musicians of international and national renown in order to offer them children and young people from vulnerable areas the possibility of being better students, better people and better citizens through the learning of a musical instrument and at the same time, offering the possibility for a continuous improvement of our teachers and national and international music professionals. The Camerata Essy Casal was conformed in August 2018. It is a youth camerata formed by a group of eleven members of the Children and Youth Philharmonic of Panama, that earned their place in the Camerata for having demonstrated not only a greater skill in the execution of their instrument, but also demonstrated a commitment and dedication to the Program. Its Director is Master Victor Mata. Victor Mata is a Venezuelan Director, founding member of "El Sistema". He is currently the Head of the Music Department and Director of the Orchestra and Choir of the Isaac Rabin School in Panama. Artistic Director and Founder of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Panama and Camerata Panama. He has been a collaborator and advisor to the National Concert Association, the Opera Foundation of Panama and the Polyphonic Choir of Panama. Student of José Antonio Abreu (+), Alfredo Rugeles, Rodolfo Saglimbeni, Guillermo Scarabino and George Hurst (+), at the "Simón Bolívar" Conservatory, the University Institute of Musical Studies (IUDEM) and The Canford Summer School of Music (England) ), which he attended for five years. He has a degree in Orchestra Direction, a degree from the Experimental University of Arts and a Diploma in Orchestral Direction from the Inter-American Council of Musical Studies. He has acted as Guest Director a head of the most important Symphonic Orchestras of Venezuela.     As always, art has a prominent space in Boquete Library. Our next exhibit is in charge of the multidisciplinary visual artist Ariel Jurado. It is a live representation of the variety of emotions art can achieve in humans. The artist is a paintor and sculptor with many years of experience in art; winner of the first place in sculpting at Banco Nacional art contest and has presented in various places like the Arab Emirates. Come join this great artist in his opening and support national talent! This exhibit will be available until June 30th.     Soon, 3rd Boquete Book Fair We are very happy to announce the return of one of our most acclaimed events: The Boquete Book Fair. This literary festivity will be from April 4th to 7th of 2019. In this third version our motto is: "Reading, key to education and a better life". For this homage to literature, we will have book presentations, conferences, storytelling, art presentation, the visit of well-known national and internacional authors, and book sales from the different editorial houses.
