    Can you tell me what to do to get a bus ticket, instead of an airline ticket, for onward passage? Do I buy a ticket in David for passage from David to somewhere in Costa Rica, like San Jose?

      I have heard that the destination needs to be San Jose at least. You can buy bus tickets both in David and Paso Canoas. However, you don't need to do this. Reserve a flight (and don't pay) on Copa Air or other airline websites. They will hold the res for 48 hrs , print it out, and let the res expire. This I know works as recently as last month.
