Pilates emphasizes natural, whole body fluid movement, creating long lean muscles and integrating/harmonizing the body/mind through conscious breathing. Thus Pilates shares many of the same exercise principles and objectives as Yoga. However, Pilates has it own unique set of props, adding wide diversity and sophisticated elements of fitness to its abilities. Too, all movement extends out from the core- imitating how the body originally develops from the central nervous system outward reinforcing/building good posture and the overall integration of the total self. . So...Give it a Whirl! Learn a new skill! Your body and mind will love and reward you for it! Come home into your body- restore and remodel where you truly Live! Ongoing Classes at the Haven resume Monday, November 7th- Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays- 8:30- 9:45 a.m., and Fridays- 9 a.m.til 10:15. All classes use props- stretchy bands, light hand weights, different size balls, magic circles and foam rollers* which are included in the class donation fee requested. Two class packages are also available. Either class package is to be taken within a month from the date purchased. Regular class attendance of at least ONCE weekly is suggested. An experience with these props will be given in class to help you make your decision. Some students have chosen to use the substitutes which are readily available. Have your own yoga mat? Please bring it to class. It's best to have your own- but not necessary. There is no additional fee to use the Haven's. Monday and Friday- Pilates Using Props Classes are Basic Level - For new and ongoing students to stretch out and strengthen his/her body, emphasizing good posture & learning how to use the props. Students in these classes learn how to listen to their body to pace themselves and modify the movements according to their movement restrictions and abilities. 5. Family of the Month Family of the month - October 2016 Meet Wilberto and his mother Bertina Wilberto, 46, has been bed-ridden and living with his mother in Potrerillos Abajo since he was shot and partially paralyzed in a robbery attempt at Wilberto’s place of business. On that day he lost his mobility and his livelihood. Friends and family have rallied around him to help him find a hospital bed and to get him to doctor’s and physical therapist’s appointments. Now he needs a wheelchair, which he hopes “to borrow for a short time”. Wilberto says he is determined to walk again, and to work again to help support his mother. Wilberto and his mom are only two of the many clients you can help feed every month. Support the BVB non-perishable food program today.
